TIIGM Chapter 2: The Book is Upside Down

The alpha flinched, as if he had been burned by the omega’s touch.

Sheng Zhi curled his fingers slightly—his first reaction was to pull his hand back.

At a young age, he had been forced to take over as the head of the family. To keep his authority, he had developed the habit of wearing a cold expression at all times. Over the years, people had come to see him as moody and unapproachable. Forget holding hands—most people would avoid him entirely if they could.

But the omega didn’t seem afraid of him at all. The alpha pursed his lips unnaturally.

No, that wasn’t right. He was here to establish dominance.

"Let go. What kind of behavior is this, touching and grabbing?" The alpha's tone was stiff.

"Huh?" The little fool blinked in confusion.

"But... but married couples can hold hands." The little fool thought his alpha was even dumber than him—didn’t he know that couples could hold hands? He thought for a moment, then seriously looked at the alpha and explained. His grip also changed—from holding the alpha’s wrist to interlocking their fingers.

"You—" The little fool pointed at the alpha, then at himself. "We... we’re married!"

Alpha: That... actually makes sense.

Time flew by, and before the alpha realized it, he had already spent the whole afternoon following the omega around.

The reason? The little fool said that couples should get familiar with their new home together.

"Honey—"

"Honey~"

"Honey~"

The omega was so noisy. Sheng Zhi followed behind the little fool expressionlessly.

"Honey~ What room is this?"

"The study," the alpha answered with two brief words. "You’re not allo—"

"Then honey, if I make some desserts, can I come find you? Will I disturb your work? But couples should keep each other company..."

"You can. You won’t." The alpha swallowed his words and replaced them with a short, clear answer to stop the little fool’s endless chatter.

"Honey~ then where is our bedroom?"

The alpha led the omega to the room opposite the study.

"You’ll stay here."

"Wow—" The little fool's eyes lit up the moment the alpha opened the door.

At the Xu family's house, his stepmother had arranged his bedroom in a remote part of the house. Forget about natural lighting—even the size was barely enough to fit a bed and a desk.

But this room was huge! The big windows faced the river in the distance, and the golden sunset cast a warm glow over the room.

Having a husband was really great! The little fool thought.

"Honey, wuwuwu, honey, you’re so good!" The little fool suddenly pounced forward.

The alpha, not knowing why, instinctively reached out and caught the omega in a big hug.

Sheng Zhi looked down at his hands: ...

Something must be wrong with them. It had only been one afternoon, and they already had a mind of their own.

"Ahem, you should unpack your things first." The alpha's ear tips reddened faintly.

"Okay!"

Back in the study, the alpha sat alone for a long time. Sheng Zhi curled his fingers, rubbing the lingering warmth on his fingertips.

How could there be such a careless omega? He talked too much and wore all his thoughts on his face.

He didn’t even know to keep his distance from a stranger alpha!

So unreserved.

So improper! Sheng Zhi concluded.

Dinner was eaten together. The omega had spent a long time unpacking, and his face still had a smudge on it.

He looked dusty and messy. So ugly.

The alpha turned and went to the bathroom, wetting a towel with warm water.

"Close your eyes." The alpha's voice was still cold.

The little fool didn’t understand but obediently closed his eyes anyway. His long eyelashes fluttered, and he tilted his head up dumbly.

Wow wow wow, was he going to get a kiss? The little fool’s thoughts ran wild. But why was his husband holding a towel?

The alpha’s movements were gentle. The towel covered the little fool’s face as one hand cupped the back of his head, while the other carefully wiped his face. The omega was truly defenseless, soft and pliant under the alpha’s touch, his head bobbing slightly.

The alpha quickly finished cleaning his face and took the towel back to the bathroom.

The little fool still had his eyes closed, but after a moment of silence, he didn’t hear the alpha move.

Hmm?

That was it?

The little fool peeked through a tiny slit in his eyes—only to meet the alpha’s amused gaze.

"What were you thinking? Eat your food!" The alpha felt like he had won this round. Now the omega would surely understand that he wouldn’t indulge him.

He definitely didn’t want to kiss his silly little wife.

The little fool was a bit tired. After spending the afternoon exploring and then unpacking, he unknowingly fell asleep while they were watching TV.

The little fool was picked up by the alpha.

The bedroom door opened, and the alpha placed him on the bed.

"Honey, do you sleep on the left or the right?" The omega, having woken up when he was lifted, asked softly. His flushed little face unknowingly nuzzled against the alpha’s cheek.

"I..." The alpha had originally planned to leave after putting the omega down. But when he lowered his head, he saw the omega’s small hand tightly clutching his shirt. "...Left side."

That afternoon, the alpha had glanced at the assistant’s report—information about the omega.

When the omega was young, his half-brother had accidentally locked him in a storage room. He wasn’t found until a day later. That time, he had developed a high fever, and after that, his reactions became slower than most people’s. He also became more afraid of the dark and found it difficult to sleep alone.

"Yay!" Hearing the alpha’s response, the little fool was overjoyed. He rolled over to the right side. "I… I sleep super, super still!" The little fool promised.

"Hmm." The alpha lay down and casually picked up a magazine from the bedside.

The little fool quickly fell asleep, curling up, hugging the blanket, and burying his head into the covers—only a fluffy tuft of hair visible.

Maybe he felt cold. The omega instinctively searched for warmth, his soft hand landing on the alpha’s waist. He seemed to be dreaming, mumbling something, and then his leg followed, draping over the alpha too.

So warm. Was he hugging a big heater? The omega sleepily opened his eyes.

Huh? His husband was working so hard, still holding a book instead of sleeping.

But… but why was the book upside down?

Author's note:

Alpha’s outward attitude: Clingy and sticky, how improper!

Alpha’s inner thoughts: Wife hugged me! Wife put his hand on me! Wife is so soft~
