AHEIAID Chapter 37: Something’s Definitely Wrong with Them

Joey suddenly felt like something was different about Garius.
How should he put it?
Before, the man was like an untouchable god—aloof, rational, and indifferent. He stood above all, impartial and silent, bearing the weight of the empire on his shoulders, serving as the unshakable Wall of Sighs that protected it.
Even during their occasional moments of intimacy, there was always an air of purity and divinity, as if he were untouchable.
But now…
It was like the frozen king had stepped down from his icy throne.
He was no longer impartial.
His once-unbiased heart now had a clear favorite—someone he cherished above all else.
And—ahem—as the recipient of that favoritism, Joey was starting to panic.
It all started one morning…
Joey yawned lazily, rubbing his sleepy eyes as he sat at the edge of the bed, waiting for the servants to come pamper him like usual.
He was used to it.
Every morning, a servant would kneel down, socks in one hand, Joey’s foot in the other, carefully dressing this little human who had somehow become the darling of the entire estate.
But today—
“What do you think you’re doing?!”
A cold, commanding voice cut through the air.
Joey turned his head in surprise.
Garius—who had just been buttoning up his dress shirt—stopped mid-action. His usual calm and lazy demeanor disappeared in an instant, replaced by an icy, almost hostile glare.
What the—?
Both Joey and the servant froze on the spot.
Even Lucian blinked in shock.
Then, with a frown, Garius strode over, snatched the socks from the terrified servant’s hands, and—without hesitation—knelt down himself.
He grabbed Joey’s warm little foot…
…and personally put his socks on for him.
“From now on, no one is allowed to touch his skin so casually. This is the only exception.”
Joey: ……
Servant: ……
Lucian: …Wow.
Joey stared, wide-eyed, rubbing his eyes in disbelief.
Was he still dreaming?
Even after rubbing them red, the scene in front of him didn’t change.
His dad… was still his dad.
HOLY SHIT.
Joey stared wide-eyed at the golden, wavy locks in front of him, feeling as if he were in some kind of dream.
Did Garius have an amazing dream last night?
Was he so happy that he personally put my socks on?!
And besides, the male servants had always helped him dress before—so why had Garius never been upset about it until now?
The people around them secretly glanced at their master’s frigid back, feeling the unusual tension in the air.
The atmosphere was… weirdly sour.
Joey fell silent for a moment before nodding to himself, determined.
No, no, I must be imagining things. Maybe it’s just my morning breath.
There’s no way Garius cares about something like this.
Absolutely impossible!
—
Later, after freshening up, they went to the dining hall.
Excited to eat, Joey eagerly poked a small meatball with his spoon, just about to take a bite—
Only for his chin to be gently lifted and turned.
The next second, cool golden strands of hair brushed against his cheek.
Before Joey could even taste his meatball—
He ended up tasting Garius’s lips instead.
Joey blinked slowly.
In his dark, glossy pupils, he saw the man’s thick eyelashes lowered in concentration.
Who would’ve guessed that behind this quiet, handsome face hid a storm of raw emotions?
Joey almost died from that kiss.
His hands trembled. His meatball plopped back into his bowl, sending a few drops of soup splashing onto the table.
Meanwhile, Garius—lips slightly damp—calmly picked up another meatball and placed it into Joey’s small bowl.
His golden-green eyes curved with a smile as he lowered his voice and asked carefully:
“I wasn’t too rough, was I? Did it feel good? Do you want another one?”
“……”
…Do you want another one…
…Want another one…
…Another one…
HOLY SHIT, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING?!
That was a freaking French kiss! A FRENCH KISS.
And you did it in front of the butler and the servants!
Have you no reputation left to uphold?!
Joey’s mind went blank.
This—this was completely unexplainable now!
His tongue felt numb. His brain buzzed.
In his daze, he slowly turned his stiff neck towards Lucian, seeking some kind of normalcy.
But to his horror, Lucian only looked mildly surprised.
And then, as if pleased, he smiled warmly—like an elder watching a young couple in love.
Not even a hint of disgust or rejection.
Joey: …Something’s wrong.
Garius is acting weird.
Lucian is acting weird.
Everyone is acting weird!
“System! System!” Joey panicked and called out to his system.
“What’s going on?! Did I wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? Why does everyone seem so… strange?”
The system thought to itself, Of course they’re acting different!
Before, you two were father and son.
Now, you’re husband and wife.
What kind of man wouldn’t explode after seeing his wife’s feet being touched by someone else?
Especially Garius Heine—who might look cold and reserved, but in reality has extreme possessiveness.
But…
If the system explained this to Joey now, it might delay their relationship progress—and, more importantly, delay the mission of making babies.
So, with a very personal motive, the system lied.
【I don’t know either.】
“Oh…”
Joey’s uneasiness didn’t fade.
In fact, it got worse.
So much so that he lost his appetite, even skipping a meatball.
—
On the way to work…
Joey’s big, dark puppy eyes kept stealing nervous glances at the tall man beside him.
But every single time—without fail—he got caught.
And every time Garius’s gaze met his, it felt like tiny hooks latched onto his soul.
The moment their eyes met, those invisible hooks would pull tighter—dragging Joey’s attention back in, invading his senses.
It was as if Garius’s gaze was physically tracing his skin.
Brushing over his cheeks.
Kissing his glistening black eyes.
Trailing down his soft lips, lingering right at the seam.
Gentle, but overwhelming.
Cold, yet burning.
Even without touching him, Garius’s stare devoured him.
The contrast between his indifferent expression and the raw hunger in his eyes was… terrifying.
With just a glance, you could see it—
The undisguised desire.
Joey shuddered, his body reacting instinctively to the heavy gaze.
It felt as if he were already sitting in Garius’s lap, his curly hair being tugged back, his lips being pried open for more…
His face flushed red.
He turned away quickly, swallowing hard.
Is… is this how an iceberg looks when it melts?!
Joey’s heart pounded wildly.
Too much.
I can’t handle this.
…
Wait a minute.
Something’s wrong.
Joey suddenly had an epiphany.
Why the hell would Garius be looking at me like this?!
Aren’t we just father and son?!
OH SHIT—
Something is REALLY wrong!
Joey’s mind flooded with countless horrifying possibilities.
He hurriedly turned back to observe Garius more closely.
…Which, unfortunately, led to an entire morning of what looked like blatant eye-flirting in the office.
From an outsider’s perspective—
The strongest boss in District 13 and his little human assistant were exchanging secret, affectionate glances.
One getting flustered—the other amused—both completely unaware of their surroundings.
After watching this spectacle for far too long, Amon finally snapped.
He pinched his nose bridge and sighed deeply.
“…Guys, it’s still morning. Can you stop feeding us dog food? I’m full. I really don’t need more.”
“……”
Excuse me?!
Joey turned to glare at him.
I wasn’t flirting!
I was INVESTIGATING to see if my boss got BODY-SNATCHED, you idiot!
Amon gave him the same deadpan look.
Joey: Hmph!
Amon: I totally believe you.
Joey: Good.
Amon: I’m also a dog.
Joey: "..."
... Looks like the enemy is too powerful. Even Amon has been replaced.
Joey Holmes scratched his chin, realizing the gravity of the situation.
And the strange, off-putting events only continued to worsen.
For instance, at home and in front of Amon, Garius had absolutely no reservations—he would call Joey over to kiss him all the time!
Like he was charging up—he had to do it, and if the kiss was too short, it wasn't enough!
At first, Amon and Lucian were a bit surprised. But after Garius had a private talk with them, Joey realized—he seemed to be the only one who still cared about it.
As for Amon and the others—Oh, go ahead, kiss him. We’ll talk business after.
Joey: ???
What??
Excuse me, do none of you notice my dad has changed??
He’s practically got ‘I’M ABOUT TO DEVOUR HIM’ written all over his face!
At the same time, the estate was also changing quietly…
The once elegant, vintage, high-class estate was suddenly filled with flashy, vibrant flowers and fabric!
Renovation workers only did their job while they were away. By the time they returned home, the workers were gone. If the changes weren’t so drastic lately, Joey wouldn’t have even noticed some parts of the estate had been replaced or remodeled.
One night, Joey got up to use the bathroom and found Garius missing from bed.
Curious, he stepped out of the bedroom to look for him—only to overhear Garius talking to the butler about planning some kind of event.
Butler Lucian even suggested using the checklist from the previous master and lady of the house.
Joey: Tsk, what are they talking about? Why are they keeping secrets from me?
The curly-haired little head was full of confusion.
And before he knew it, the promised first of the month—the date he and Garius had agreed upon—had arrived…
