AHEIAID Chapter 17: Not There! Don’t Blow on It!

At first, when he was pinned down by that ridiculous real dumb bird, Joey was so scared that he nearly passed out on the spot, completely losing his mind.
However, by the time Saxis and the others dragged him out, he had actually already recovered from that scalp-tingling terror. He was just too embarrassed, so he buried his face in whoever was holding him.
But now, being sent back to Garius and held firmly in his arms, face-to-face, while waiting for the doctor to arrive… Joey only felt one thing—utter, absolute, crushing embarrassment!
He was a full-grown man, yet he got waist-hugged and humped by an animal, even screamed so high-pitched that his voice cracked…
Damn it, this was peak humiliation!
Joey covered his face.
It was all that damn dumb bird’s fault!
"It’s okay now, Joey."
"I’m here."
Suddenly, that usually elegant and indifferent voice sounded different. It carried an unfamiliar tenderness, a kind of careful, protective warmth.
It was so pleasant, so mesmerizing—like a soft feather tip pressing against his ear, then brushing over it with the gentlest touch.
Joey, who had been lying on Garius’s shoulder, cursing that dumb bird to be eggless for life while angrily poking an imaginary voodoo doll, jolted as if he had been electrocuted. His whole body tensed, and his neck shrank back. His heart instantly turned itchy and numb, tingling all over.
The man’s embrace tightened around him.
At the same time, the large, gloved hand resting on the back of his head buried itself into his fluffy, naturally curly hair. It tugged at his soft curls—not too hard, not too light—just enough to give a sense of both control and protection, subtly soothing Joey’s emotions.
"The doctor will be here soon."
Cool lips pressed against his forehead, then the crown of his head.
The voice remained calm, with no obvious fluctuations, yet it somehow made Joey’s face burn and his heart race.
And with just a hint of dominance, Galius whispered, "Just hold on a little longer. Can you do that, Joey?"
O-Of course he could… It wasn’t like he had broken an arm or leg or anything…
Joey tugged at his burning earlobe, coughed lightly, and nodded reservedly. But then, worried that Garius hadn’t seen it, he quickly added a soft, “Mhm.”
At that, the Nordic-god-like man pressed his full lips against Joey’s brow bone in a firm, deliberate motion.
"Good boy."
"……"
Joey turned his face away, gripping the fabric of Garius’s shirt between his fingers, mumbling under his breath, “Tch, poop scooper, you’re making a big deal out of nothing…”
Yet, his system had no mercy and exposed him instantly.
【Host’s joy levels are steadily increasing. 110%… 120%… 130%… 140%…】
Joey snapped, “Shut up!”
【180%… 190%… Oh~ Reporting to Host, your current emotional state can be summarized in one sentence—Damn, I’m exploding with sweetness!】
Joey: "…I swear I’m uninstalling you someday."
【Hehehe.】
After glaring at his system, Joey buried his entire face into Garius’s embrace.
That fluffy head of curls rubbed vigorously against the man’s neck and chin, acting just like a cat that had been bullied outside and came home to whine for comfort—humming and mumbling "Galius" over and over again.
Then, after all the affectionate cuddling… he got embarrassed again.
And after getting embarrassed? …He secretly started taking advantage of Galius instead.
With a sly move, he smooshed his entire face into the man’s broad, firm chest—like a human washing machine, shamelessly using him as a facial cleanser.
Joey the Dog-Curl did it with absolute righteousness.
Hehehe~~~ Anyway, I’m a pet now, not a human, so who needs shame?
Right?
I’m just acting cute, not taking advantage of the situation.
I swear on the system’s dog life!
Joey: =V=
System: …Mom sells batch. (TL note: A meme version of a Chinese curse.)
Hearing the little guy call his name in that soft, trembling voice, Galius felt as if a block of ice inside him had been dipped into a hot spring, melting so fast that it almost hurt.
He lowered his head, raised a hand, and bit the fingertips of his gloves, one by one, pulling them off before tossing them onto the table. Then, he gently stroked Joey’s face, rubbing it lightly as if petting a beloved animal.
Letting the human take in his scent.
Small creatures tend to be highly sensitive to their owner's scent, Galius thought. Perhaps a familiar smell would make Joey feel safer.
But for Joey, having his face caressed—especially when those long, slender fingers brushed against his lips—
…
His round, black eyes locked onto that finger.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds…
Joey: STARE——
A moment later, as if possessed by some mischievous spirit, he quickly opened his mouth and gave that finger a light bite.
The second he did it, both of them froze.
Then, Joey’s face exploded in a red flush, his brain instantly flooding with “OH CRAP OH CRAP OH CRAP I REALLY BIT HIM, THAT WAS SO LEWD, SO LEWD, SO LEWD!”
He buried his head in Poop Scooper’s chest, listening to the system sneer 【Kinky~】, while his heart pounded uncontrollably and the rush of blood roared in his ears.
Meanwhile, aside from the initial surprise, Galius didn’t think too much of it.
A human’s dull little teeth weren’t even close to breaking his skin, and he could tell that the little thing hadn’t actually used any force.
Assuming that the bite was just a stress response from being overwhelmed, he only felt more protective, pulling Joey even closer into his embrace.
A little while later, Amon arrived with the doctor, who used a small scanning device to examine Joey from head to toe.
“No fractures, and no internal injuries—just a few scratches here and there. These minor wounds don’t require injections. Since the human body is fragile, it’s best to avoid unnecessary medication.”
The middle-aged doctor smiled as he retrieved a box of very cute pink adhesive patches from his bag.
“These child-sized medicated patches should do the trick. Cute, right? I actually got these for my daughter.”
He placed the pink floral medicine patches on the district governor’s desk with a cheerful smile.
“Once you clean the wounds with antiseptic, just stick these on, and you’ll be good to go.”
Galius frowned. “But Joey’s body is shaking.”
The doctor explained, “That’s because he’s scared, sir. Just hold him, feed him something nice, and stay with him. He should calm down soon—small, fragile creatures are always like this.”
Only then did Galius’s expression soften.
“Thank you.”
The middle-aged doctor quickly shook his head. “No, no, sir, it’s nothing. I’ll take my leave then? If anything happens, just call me.”
“Mm. Amon, see him out.”
Amon took one look at his boss—who was now visibly in a better mood while cuddling his little black-furred, curly-haired human—and finally felt his heart settle back into his chest.
He immediately grinned. “Sure thing. Do you need me to come back and help with applying the medicine later?”
“No need,” Galius rejected coldly. “Joey isn’t familiar with you. It would scare him.”
“Uh…”
Why do I feel like this little guy isn’t as timid as you think?
And why do I get the feeling that you’re being just a little overprotective?
Amon wisely kept those thoughts to himself. No way he was going to question his boss—who was clearly a new, doting pet owner, held a powerful position, and had a temper that could rival a full-blown Arctic storm.
So, he simply nodded obediently and escorted the doctor out.
Once they were gone, Galius picked Joey up and stood.
He placed the little one on his desk, letting him sit there just like the neatly stacked documents.
His sharp, gold-green eyes lowered, gazing at the tiny creature whose face had regained warmth.
Joey, embarrassed, peeked up at him with his big, glossy black eyes.
The corners of Galius’s lips curled slightly. He reached out, his thumb lightly brushing the corner of Joey’s eye.
“I’m going to apply your medicine. Don’t move, understand?”
Then, he lowered his long lashes and, with steady fingers, began unfastening the buttons at the back of Joey’s collar, one by one.
Joey wriggled a little in discomfort, but Galius simply pressed down on his shoulders, keeping him still.
With practiced efficiency, he sprayed Joey’s wounds with disinfectant and then leaned in, gently blowing on each one to dry them before carefully placing a pink floral patch over them.
However—
When he reached the area near Joey’s underwear…
Galius paused.
