AAISBMEBF Chapter 45: Dividing the Pig Trotters

Liu Anna had spent the entire day thinking things over on the other side of the crowd.
She finally came to a conclusion—she couldn’t keep opposing Cui Xisheng. Acting like a jealous shrew would only push Meng Jiangtian further away.
First, she needed to figure out what was really going on between those two.
Only then could she find a way to drive a wedge between them.
Meng Jiangtian was hers, and she would never let go.
With these calculations in mind, Liu Anna put on a warm and friendly smile as she looked at Cui Xisheng.
Cui Xisheng was gnawing on a braised pig trotter.
When he looked up and saw Liu Anna smiling at him, he shuddered instinctively.
Even though she looked kind and approachable, something about her smile sent chills down his spine.
"Jiangtian-gege, I’m hungry too."
Liu Anna rubbed her stomach, and right on cue, her stomach let out a loud growl.
She really was starving—she hadn’t eaten anything all day.
When Meng Jiangtian left earlier, he had told her to stay with Cui Xisheng so that Zhao Jiake and the fire ability user could protect them.
That also meant she had access to the food there.
But before he left, Meng Jiangtian had added:
"If Cui Xisheng doesn’t agree, then you’re not allowed to eat any of this food."
That blatant favoritism infuriated Liu Anna.
As soon as Meng Jiangtian left, she shot a fierce glare at the peacefully sleeping Cui Xisheng and then stormed off to the other side of the crowd to sulk.
To make things worse, neither Zhao Jiake nor the fire ability user came to protect her.
They stayed by Cui Xisheng’s side the whole time.
Liu Anna had spent the entire day fuming in frustration.
But the more she thought about it, the clearer it became—if she wanted to win, she needed a new strategy.
She had to get along with Cui Xisheng first.
Know your enemy, know yourself—then you’ll never lose.
"Take whatever you want to eat," Meng Jiangtian said, glancing at Cui Xisheng.
Cui Xisheng was still busy gnawing on his pig trotter, his lips glistening with grease.
He looked completely indifferent to everything around him.
Meng Jiangtian’s lips curled slightly, but the smile disappeared in an instant.
He pointed at the box next to Cui Xisheng.
"Alright."
Liu Anna eyed the pig trotter in Cui Xisheng’s hands, swallowing her saliva discreetly.
After hesitating for a moment, she chose a piece of bread and a bottle of milk.
Meng Jiangtian glanced at her and casually tossed her a pig trotter.
"Eat some meat."
Liu Anna’s eyes lit up.
So Meng Jiangtian still cared about her.
In the apocalypse, meat was far more valuable than bread or milk.
Cui Xisheng lazily lifted his eyelids, glanced at the pig trotter in Liu Anna’s hands, and pouted.
He felt like he had gotten the short end of the deal.
If he had known he’d have to share with Liu Anna, he would’ve grabbed more earlier.
Meng Jiangtian caught the dissatisfaction on Cui Xisheng’s face and said nonchalantly,
"This kind of meat won’t last long. We need to eat it quickly. You two should eat more too—don’t waste it."
There were only ten pig trotters in the entire box.
Meng Jiangtian gave a few to Zhao Jiake and the fire ability user.
The rest he distributed to the student council president and the earth ability user.
When he returned, he placed the empty box in front of Cui Xisheng and pointed at the production date printed on it.
"It expires the day after tomorrow. If you can eat it, finish it soon. And use this box as a trash bin—don’t litter. This is your sleeping spot. If it gets dirty, how are you going to sleep?"
"I don’t litter!" Cui Xisheng protested, clearly displeased.
"I know you don’t," Meng Jiangtian said smoothly.
"That’s a good habit. Keep it up, and don’t litter in the future either."
As he spoke, he started cleaning up the empty wrappers and packaging scattered around Cui Xisheng’s spot.
Cui Xisheng’s face turned slightly red.
He took a fierce bite of his pig trotter, stuffing his mouth full.
It was absolutely not because he felt guilty and didn’t want to argue back.
He just had too much food in his mouth to speak.
