When Cui Xisheng came out, his legs were numb from squatting. Meng Jiangtian flushed the toilet and carried Cui Xisheng back to the rooftop.

Cui Xisheng had emptied his stomach and felt hungry, seeing the rice porridge, he wanted to drink more.

Meng Jiangtian carefully checked Cui Xisheng's pulse and didn’t find any major issues, then served him another bowl of porridge.

Cui Xisheng drank slowly until the bowl was empty, and his stomach felt stable.

After eating two bowls, Cui Xisheng still wanted more, but Meng Jiangtian didn’t allow it and drank the rest of the porridge himself.

"I have some business to attend to for a bit. I’ll be back in no more than an hour," Meng Jiangtian said as he tidied up the pots and bowls.

"Where are you going?" Cui Xisheng asked, already having a bad feeling. He felt insecure when Meng Jiangtian wasn’t around.

"Just handling some things. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon. I promise," Meng Jiangtian said seriously, patting Cui Xisheng’s shoulder.

Cui Xisheng fell silent and didn’t say more. Meng Jiangtian turned to Qi Tianshan and instructed, "Keep an eye on him. If anyone dares to steal food, let them, and I’ll deal with them when I return."

Meng Jiangtian said this loudly enough for the crowd to hear. Everyone lowered their heads, not daring to make eye contact with him.

Meng Jiangtian was satisfied with their attitude, but just as he was about to leave, Cui Xisheng grabbed him. "I don’t want to stay on the rooftop. You let Qi Tianshan look after the food. I’ll go to the room downstairs for a while. I’ll come back up when you return."

The weather in July was getting hotter, and staying on the rooftop in direct sunlight was like torture.

The student council president and Zhao Huanrui were going up and down the building, blocking the stairways with furniture to prevent zombies from climbing up.

Therefore, the top floor was temporarily safe, while the hungry crowd of over a hundred people on the rooftop was in more danger.

Cui Xisheng didn’t want to stay with these people. With so much food around, he was afraid that someone might lose control, and that would be dangerous for him.

"The downstairs isn’t very safe either. Is it just the heat bothering you?" Meng Jiangtian asked, glancing at the sun, which was indeed very hot.

"It’s not just that. I just want to go downstairs for a while. If you won’t take me, I’ll go myself," Cui Xisheng said lazily, standing up to leave.

Meng Jiangtian immediately gave in, grabbing Cui Xisheng. "Alright, alright, I’ll take you downstairs." He said, preparing to carry him.

"I can walk on my own," Cui Xisheng pushed him away and walked steadily down the stairs. After two bowls of porridge, he had already regained his strength.

Meng Jiangtian followed closely behind. As they reached the stairs, they bumped into Liu Anna, who had just returned.

Cui Xisheng didn’t look at her and walked past Liu Anna without glancing sideways.

Meng Jiangtian followed behind and, after a moment of hesitation, said to Liu Anna, "Don’t run around, hurry back inside."

"Where are you going?" Liu Anna stopped him to ask.

"The rooftop is too hot. We’re going inside to cool off for a bit," Meng Jiangtian replied, pulling away from Liu Anna's hand.

Liu Anna’s face remained neutral, as if she didn’t care about being pulled away. She smiled and said, "It is quite hot outside. I also want to find a room to cool off for a bit."

Meng Jiangtian frowned, clearly not agreeing. Liu Anna quickly added, "Don’t worry, Jiangtian-ge, I won’t ask to share a room with Cui Xisheng."

"Do as you wish," Meng Jiangtian said meaningfully, then quickly followed Cui Xisheng.

Liu Anna watched as Meng Jiangtian’s figure disappeared into the distance, her smile slowly fading.

The top floor of this dormitory was set up for doctoral students, and the rooms were much better than the ordinary ones. Though small, the rooms were fully equipped, but everything was stained with blood.

The zombie virus didn’t care about one’s academic level. After turning into a zombie, no matter how high your education, you would only go mad and make the room even messier.

Cui Xisheng searched for a while and finally picked a relatively clean room.

Meng Jiangtian followed him in and immediately started moving out the bloodstained furniture. He also went to the bathrooms of other rooms to bring the water the student council president had left, wiping down the bloodstains in the room with a cloth.

The bedroom’s bed was fortunately not stained with blood, and after seven days, the bedding was still relatively clean.

However, Cui Xisheng wasn’t used to using other people’s things, so Meng Jiangtian threw the bedding out. Cui Xisheng had been sleeping on a gym mat for seven days and was already accustomed to the mattress.

Meng Jiangtian cleaned the room thoroughly, then returned to the bedroom and found that Cui Xisheng had already fallen asleep.

Not wanting to wake him, Meng Jiangtian quietly left the room and closed the door behind him, then flew out of the window in the hallway.

Liu Anna stood outside the door, watching Meng Jiangtian disappear from view, her face darkened. She approached the door, raised her hand to knock, but then hesitated. After a moment, she lowered her hand, coldly walked away.

She had just upset Meng Jiangtian, so for the next few days, she decided to endure and temporarily leave Cui Xisheng alone.

Meng Jiangtian returned to the supermarket the student council president had brought him to. Inside, zombies he had killed were lying all around.

He searched for a while and found two crystal nuclei: one Earth-type and one Fire-type.

After securing the nuclei, Meng Jiangtian checked his watch—it had only been half an hour.

He looked around but didn’t rush back. He had been here before, and there was a large vegetable market nearby.

After a short search, he found the vegetable market.

Zombies didn’t like sunlight, but they weren’t afraid of it either. During the day, there were fewer zombies on the streets, as most hid inside buildings.

Meng Jiangtian looked inside the vegetable market from the air. The zombies were crowded together, occasionally biting each other.

He sliced his arm open again, the scent of blood causing the zombies nearby to go berserk, all of them chasing after Meng Jiangtian.

He led the zombie horde through three streets, and when he felt the distance was enough, he healed his wound with his healing ability and used his space ability to teleport out of the zombies’ line of sight, returning to the vegetable market.

To be cautious, Meng Jiangtian surrounded himself with a thin wind shield, which would deflect any zombies that might attempt a sneak attack.

However, there were no zombies left inside the market. As expected, the zombies had ravaged most of the vegetables on display.

But Meng Jiangtian wasn’t interested in those vegetables. He opened the door to the warehouse, and as expected, there were some vegetables that hadn’t been touched by the zombies.

Although many leafy vegetables had spoiled after seven days, many of the fruit-type vegetables were still in good condition.

Meng Jiangtian’s space was a vacuum, without air, so the vegetables could be preserved for a long time. Unfortunately, the space was too small—only one cubic meter.

There were also clothes and miscellaneous items inside. Meng Jiangtian decided to make a selection. Clothes were everywhere, and he could find more later. Fresh vegetables, however, were something that could be eaten up quickly.

He threw out the clothes and miscellaneous items, keeping only the crystal nuclei. The remaining space was filled with vegetables.

The vegetables he couldn’t fit into the space, he used the wind to carry back to the rooftop.

Meng Jiangtian returned exactly one hour later.

Qi Tianshan was dutifully guarding the food, while some people had gathered around him, pleading to sneak a bit of food.

With so much food laid out, they thought that stealing a few pieces wouldn’t be noticed by Meng Jiangtian.

But Qi Tianshan, with his timid and cautious nature, refused to agree to their requests, shaking his head vigorously.

When Meng Jiangtian flew back and the people saw the fresh vegetables he was carrying, they were disappointed and quickly backed away from Qi Tianshan.

Seeing the tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, apples, grapes, and bananas, their eyes turned red with desire. They imagined the crisp, juicy taste, and their stomachs growled in protest, making their mouths water uncontrollably.

But with just one glance from Meng Jiangtian, all their thoughts evaporated instantly.

Meng Jiangtian set up two large sunshades, carefully covering the vegetables.

The student council president had returned to the rooftop and watched as Meng Jiangtian repeatedly moved the sunshades and vegetables. His face was dark with frustration. He too hadn’t eaten for two days and was now starving.

Meng Jiangtian seemed to be deliberately provoking everyone. He moved the sunshades and vegetables several times.

Feeling the heat of the sun, he casually grabbed a plump red tomato, biting into it. The juice splattered everywhere as he bit down, and the sound of him slurping the juice echoed loudly.

The crowd couldn’t resist the sound, their mouths watering in unison, while Meng Jiangtian’s smirk grew more disdainful.

The student council president, unable to hold back, finally stood up and shouted indignantly, "Meng Jiangtian, you know we’ve been starving for a long time, and yet you’re deliberately provoking us.

We’re all classmates, and in the apocalypse, we should help each other. But you... not only are you refusing to share the food you’ve hoarded for Cui Xisheng, you’re even deliberately taunting us. Isn’t that too much?"

"Too much?" Meng Jiangtian sneered disdainfully and said coldly, "President, the so-called 'helping each other' between classmates was just a slogan from your student council. No one took it seriously before the apocalypse, and now you’re taking it seriously?

Before I left, I already told you not to touch the food I left for Cui Xisheng, but you refused to listen.

If it weren’t for Cui Xisheng seeing the blood and vomiting terribly, do you think you would have survived until today? You should be thankful that I didn’t kill you. And now, you dare ask me for food?

I’m deliberately provoking you. Are you hungry? Thirsty? Craving something? The food is right here. Go ahead, come and take it."

Cui Xisheng threw a tomato hard on the ground in front of the crowd. The ripe tomato exploded upon impact, splattering juice all over the front-row people.

The crowd immediately erupted into chaos, everyone ignoring the mess on their clothes as they scrambled to grab the tomato juice and flesh from their clothing.

The tomatoes on the ground were quickly fought over, licked clean by the crowd.

Meng Jiangtian looked at the chaos with a more contemptuous smile on his face.
