The student council president's authority was rapidly diminishing due to Meng Jiangtian's actions. If he didn't do something soon, his achievements would be tarnished once the military found them.
He needed to restore his image in front of the others by playing the role of a hero, standing up to Meng Jiangtian, even if it meant risking a confrontation.
He knew he couldn't win against Meng Jiangtian, but he was eager to understand the full extent of the difference in their strength.
Today, he would go all out to fight Meng Jiangtian, and even if he lost, he would do so honorably.
Meng Jiangtian was having too much fun using live humans to lure zombies, and the student council president came to ruin his fun. After a whole day of messing with him, why did this person never learn?
Perhaps he hadn't been harsh enough. People like him needed a serious scare, or else they'd stick around like gum on a shoe, endlessly pestering him.
Meng Jiangtian gave the student council president a cold look, his eyes filled with calculation.
The student council president flinched under Meng Jiangtian's gaze but quickly composed himself, staring back defiantly, ready to deliver his speech about justice.
However, before he could speak, Meng Jiangtian didn't give him the chance. He extended his other hand and pointed at the student council president.
A gust of wind rapidly surrounded the student council president, lifting him off the ground.
“What do you want to do, Meng Jiangtian?” The student council president instinctively sensed danger and desperately activated his abilities.
A swirling stream of water tried to break the wind barrier surrounding him, but it was like an egg smashing into a rock—his water scattered in all directions, failing to make an impact.
“You're overestimating yourself,” Meng Jiangtian mocked, lightly raising his finger. The student council president was lifted uncontrollably into the air.
In the swirling wind, the student council president struggled, trying to command the water streams to attack the wind, but his efforts were futile.
Drenched by his own water, he couldn't even budge the wind wrapping around him.
As he watched Meng Jiangtian leisurely sitting without any defense, he realized just how vulnerable Meng Jiangtian's position was.
A flicker of realization crossed his mind, and his eyes narrowed. He twisted the water streams, turning them into a sharp water arrow that surged toward Meng Jiangtian.
The student council president smiled as he watched the water arrow close in on Meng Jiangtian's chest.
But Meng Jiangtian’s cold smirk grew wider. With a casual swipe of his hand, the seemingly sharp water arrow shattered instantly, scattering harmlessly to the ground, where it evaporated in the scorching heat.
The student council president's smile froze. Meng Jiangtian grinned, pushing his finger forward slowly.
Helpless, the student council president found himself being dragged toward the edge of the rooftop. Looking down, he saw the boy from earlier, now caught face-to-face with zombies.
A wave of panic swept over him as the boy's screams filled the air.
“What are you doing, Meng Jiangtian? I’m an ability user! The higher-ups have regulations against killing ability users. If the military finds out you killed one, they won’t let you off!” the student council president shouted in a panic, hoping to appeal to Meng Jiangtian's sense of caution.
“Higher-ups? Who are they? The military? Are you sure they’re even coming for us? Where did you get this information from? Or are you just making it up?” Meng Jiangtian asked curiously.
“I’m not making it up!” the student council president retorted loudly, but theuun hesitated. He feared that if Meng Jiangtian found out the government already knew about the zombies and ability users, he might take credit for it.
If Meng Jiangtian did, the student council president had no chance of winning.
“So, what exactly is going on with the higher-ups and the military?” Meng Jiangtian pressed, waiting for the student council president to explain. But the president fell silent.
Meng Jiangtian raised his hand, and the student council president was abruptly sent flying a short distance.
“Ah—!” his scream was identical to the one from the boy below.
Meng Jiangtian couldn’t even hear the student council president’s response due to the noise from the boy's loud pleas.
With a flick of his wrist, Meng Jiangtian pulled the boy back up. The boy landed with a thud, rolling a few times before coming to a stop.
The crowd murmured in disdain, noting that the boy was soaking wet. The earlier events had been too intense for him, and he had lost control.
The student council president, still floating in the air, shouted, “Meng Jiangtian!”
Meng Jiangtian smiled at him and replied, “I’m listening.”
The student council president had completely given up on using his abilities to fight back. He realized just how far apart their strengths were. Even if he tried his best, he couldn’t shake Meng Jiangtian.
As he looked down at the three zombies below, he was torn between telling Meng Jiangtian the truth or keeping quiet. His inner conflict raged on for a split second.
The student council president took a deep breath and said, “Alright, I’ll tell you.”
Meng Jiangtian’s smile deepened as he waited for the explanation.
The student council president gulped nervously but then made a request: “But I want to talk to you alone.”
Meng Jiangtian’s smile faded slightly, and the student council president quickly added, “This matter is classified. Only ability users can know about it. It’s best if no one else finds out.”
He glanced toward the 108 warriors.
Meng Jiangtian assessed the student council president’s face, trying to detect any signs of deception.
The student council president’s expression was sincere—his life depended on being sincere.
Meng Jiangtian thought for a moment before turning to Qi Tianshan. “Keep an eye on these supplies. If anything goes missing when I come back, I’ll throw you down to feed the zombies.”
“I understand, I’ll make sure nothing goes missing,” Qi Tianshan promised earnestly.
Meng Jiangtian released the student council president, and the two descended the building.
Zhao Huanrui wanted to follow, but Qi Tianshan held him back. “Wait a moment. Help me build a wall around these supplies. I’ll cook for Cui Xisheng at noon, and you can have my share.”
“Really?” Zhao Huanrui’s eyes lit up with excitement.
There were only four ability users, and he was always stuck eating bread and ham. Though he used to prefer snacks over meals, now he craved hot, fresh food.
“Really. Just make sure it’s high enough. If anything goes missing, Meng Jiangtian will actually kill me,” Qi Tianshan said, trembling at the thought.
“No problem. I’ll build it as high as needed. But remember what you promised, my lunch will be yours!”
Zhao Huanrui eagerly constructed a two-meter-high earth wall, securing the food inside. He didn’t let a single piece slip out.
Qi Tianshan gave the wall a satisfied tap. “Perfect. Now I can relax.”
