At these words, two people’s eyes lit up.
Xia Zhe and Lan Yu—both had previously extended offers to Qin Mo, only to be firmly rejected. Yet now, in the midst of this chaos, he had agreed?!
Before coming here, both had carefully reported their invitations and Qin Mo’s outright refusal to their respective leaders.
Thus, when Chi Xuan and Xia Xun heard Qin Mo’s words, countless thoughts ran through their minds—some good, some bad, some advantageous, some detrimental.
But in the end, everything pointed to one undeniable truth.
Whoever Qin Mo joined—would win.
Just moments ago, Shi Qing and Qin Mo had been in a completely passive position, being hunted and pursued.
But now, with Qin Mo’s arrival and those simple words, the entire situation had flipped.
Whom he chose would determine victory.
On the unsteady scales of war, he stood at the very center—deciding whether the Order Keepers or the Independent Alliance would rise or fall.
In an instant, without any further action or words, the battlefield of slaughter fell silent.
Two long-absent figures appeared at the same time.
The leader of the Order, dressed in a purple robe.
The leader of the Independent Alliance, clad in a black cloak.
Legends, mortal enemies for billions of years.
At last, they met again.
And standing between them was a complete stranger—a newcomer who had only reached level twenty and had been in the Origin World for just three days!
Yet in those mere three days, he had stirred up chaos, overturning the heavens and nearly changing the very color of the sky.
At this moment, he held a massive bargaining chip—one that could determine the fate of the world!
Who would he choose? Who would he stand with?
Qin Mo stood motionless in the center, his gaze not settling on either of them.
Chi Xuan stood on the left, about five or six meters away, yet his voice sounded as if it were whispering right into Qin Mo’s ear: “Join the Independent Alliance. You belong here.”
Xia Xun stood on the right, at the exact same distance, not an inch more or less. Upon hearing Chi Xuan’s words, he let out a cold snort, full of disdain. “Join you? He would have to devour his own system first. Qin Mo, if you did that, would he really let you go? His true intentions—who doesn’t already know them? What a joke! If you’re going to lie, at least put some effort into it.”
A sharp glint flashed through Chi Xuan’s eyes as he stated firmly, “I won’t fight him for it. As long as he joins the Independent Alliance, I’m willing to give up my position as leader!”
The moment those words fell… nearly everyone present was left in stunned silence.
Was he… was he serious?
Xia Xun’s expression remained unchanged, still full of mockery. “And what of it? Do you think the leader of our Order would be any less than the leader of your messy, chaotic little organization?”
Another bombshell was dropped!
Xia Xun was willing to step down too?
To throw out such massive offers right from the start—were their heads kicked by a donkey?
The common folk might not understand, but some did… such as Xia Zhe and Lan Yu, Xia Xun’s trusted aides. They knew exactly what their boss was after…
Whether leader or alliance master, such titles might tempt almost anyone in the Origin World, but to Xia Xun and Chi Xuan, they were mere empty labels. If they could obtain Qin Mo’s power, conquer him, and fully acquire the authority of the Primordial God, they would become the new gods—the true rulers! Masters of the entire world. And what would Qin Mo be then? Just a puppet. If he was obedient, fine. If not, they could crush him with ease, without a second thought.
However, Qin Mo remained unmoved.
He glanced at Chi Xuan, then at Xia Xun, before finally speaking: “No need. I’m not interested.”
Gasps of disbelief rippled through the crowd. Insane! Absolutely insane! If he wasn’t interested in this, what in the world could possibly interest him?
Both Chi Xuan and Xia Xun composed themselves, speaking almost in unison:
“Then tell us—what do you want?”
“The truth.” Qin Mo smiled, his previously calm and indifferent eyes finally flickering with a hint of intrigue—faint, but undeniable. He continued, “Just tell me your relationship, your identities, and the abilities you each possess.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he raised his left hand. His slender fingers extended and lightly traced a circle in the air. Instantly, a transparent barrier expanded outward, growing to a diameter of twenty meters, enclosing only the three of them. Everyone else was forcibly shut out, unable to resist.
A separate space appeared out of thin air.
Such powerful spatial magic made even Chi Xuan and Xia Xun frown slightly.
This newcomer… was far stronger than they had imagined.
This time, Xia Xun spoke first, answering Qin Mo’s question without hesitation: “He and I were both members of the Order. I still am, while he betrayed the Primordial God, abandoned his faith, and fell into being a hunter. My ability is protection.”
Chi Xuan scoffed. “Don’t flatter yourself. Yes, we were both part of the Order, and yes, I betrayed it. But unlike some people, I didn’t actively…” He trailed off, let out a sneer, and said no more.
Qin Mo looked at him, prompting Chi Xuan to continue: “My ability is destruction.”
Qin Mo nodded, keeping his spiritual awareness sharp. Though he didn’t look directly at either of them, his outwardly released mental energy continuously surrounded them, analyzing their every expression, every shift in tone, every subtle movement, even the fleeting emotions in their eyes. Every tiny detail was captured, absorbed, then rapidly processed, analyzed, matched, and filtered—eliminating impossibilities until only the truth remained.
He couldn’t ask too much, couldn’t touch upon anything too critical. Chi Xuan and Xia Xun were both as cunning as foxes. The questions had to be neither too deep nor too shallow. Revealing just a bit of cleverness could lull them into underestimating him, making them more likely to slip up.
These particular questions were just right. And because the two were enemies, they couldn’t lie—if one did, the other would expose him, damaging their standing in Qin Mo’s eyes. Right now, both were still vying for his trust.
But to Qin Mo, what he gleaned from their answers was far more than they could ever have imagined.
It was enough for him to make his decision.
Qin Mo closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, his dark pupils were clear and resolute.
He spoke, each word precise and deliberate:
“That will do.”
Chi Xuan and Xia Xun both narrowed their eyes slightly. Though they made no movement, they remained on high alert.
Qin Mo did not make a sound. Instead, he swiftly darted to the left, moving with lightning speed. The five-meter distance took him less than a tenth of a second.
But to Chi Xuan and Xia Xun, that tenth of a second felt unbearably slow.
Almost the instant Qin Mo moved, they realized it.
To the left—The Independent Alliance.
Xia Xun's pupils contracted. Was this Qin Mo’s choice?
No! It wasn’t!
With the Ink Blade in hand, Qin Mo—he was actually attacking Chi Xuan!
So reckless, so insane!
Xia Xun couldn’t even think. He quickly activated a protective barrier, enveloping Qin Mo almost the instant he landed, completely shielding him.
Qin Mo’s sneak attack on Chi Xuan was no different from delivering himself to death. If he died, Chi Xuan would undoubtedly devour him in the first instant, and then Xia Xun would be doomed!
That was why Xia Xun had protected Qin Mo at all costs.
Just as he had anticipated, the protective barrier safeguarded Qin Mo, preventing Chi Xuan’s instinctive retaliatory strike from killing him.
Xia Xun had barely breathed a sigh of relief when his eyes widened in shock.
No!
He had fallen into a trap!
In a split second, Qin Mo and Chi Xuan turned their heads simultaneously. The same narrow eyes gleamed with malice.
You lost, Xia Xun.
The familiar azure light and the completely unfamiliar pitch-black blade spread open like the jaws of a venomous beast, revealing sharp fangs as they surged toward him with no restraint.
Xia Xun had no time to react. Even he could not summon another protective barrier of the same strength in such a short time.
Without his all-powerful shield, what could he use to withstand Chi Xuan’s world-destroying force?!
Unwilling! He was truly unwilling!
Xia Xun glared fiercely at Qin Mo—this madman, this lunatic, this ruthless schemer!
There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. And he could not die here. Gritting his teeth, Xia Xun poured every last bit of power from his body into forming a new protective barrier, barely managing to shield his core.
The transparent, egg-shaped shield withstood the overwhelming assault from both sides. As long as he could hold on, even for just one second, it would be enough!
Time seemed to freeze. The scene played on an endless loop.
Heaven-defying forces collided, striking the hardened shield and sparking an explosion of dazzling colors—so beautiful that it was almost despair-inducing.
Cold sweat dripped from Xia Xun’s forehead. The pressure was unbearable. No, he couldn’t hold on!
The moment the shield was torn apart, the highly concentrated energy found a breakthrough, surging in like a flood. A single crack—then total collapse.
As the semi-transparent barrier shattered into nothingness, the blinding explosion cast Xia Xun’s face into a deathly pallor.
Terror crept into his heart. He had imagined this countless times, but nothing was as horrifying as what lay before him.
Had he ultimately lost to Chi Xuan?
Just as the thought crossed his mind, a dark figure swiftly moved in front of him. It was Qin Mo!
Qin Mo was still shrouded in a faint, transparent glow—the protective light Xia Xun had given him. And now, at an unimaginable speed, he stood before Xia Xun, taking the full brunt of Chi Xuan’s devastating strike.
At his peak, Xia Xun’s protective barrier was the most invincible shield in existence.
Clashing with Chi Xuan’s power of destruction, the resulting explosion was an even more magnificent display of fireworks. The moment the glow shattered, the world-ending force dissipated into nothingness.
Xia Xun stared in shock at the man before him.
What… what was he trying to do?
There was no time to think. At such close range, when a pale, slender hand pressed against his chest, he could do nothing but watch.
He had no strength left.
Forget casting another protective barrier—he couldn’t even perform the simplest of spells!
His chest caved in under an unrelenting force. The astonishment in Xia Xun’s eyes was gradually replaced by despair. The last thing he saw was a pair of deep, black eyes.
Emotionless. Fearless. Free from all restraints, gazing down upon the world with utter dominance.
A low, hoarse voice, as if from the depths of hell:
“Shi Qing! Devour him!”
