MFSOWAA Chapter 1: Completely Unprepared

The Blue Horizon Café was suddenly sealed off.

Xia Lin was only two minutes late, but he was stopped outside as he watched people slowly evacuate. Then, all the ventilation ducts lowered their isolation barriers, completely sealing off the inside.

"Oh, another omega in heat. I haven't even finished my coffee," a beta muttered about his drink.

Omega in heat?! Xia Lin was utterly dumbfounded. In this day and age, how could there still be omegas wandering around without knowing their own heat cycles? And instead of dragging the omega away for isolation, they sealed off the entire café? That meant either the omega encountered an alpha with a pheromone compatibility rate above 60%, triggering mutual heat, or their bonded alpha happened to be with them.

Xia Lin: Damn, a live-action heat scene!

Around him were the ejected customers, most taking photos while complaining about AO couples being inconsiderate. Some chose to leave, while others stayed to adjust their plans for the day.

Xia Lin scanned the crowd for a long time. Kain was easy to spot—being an alpha, he was taller than most betas, and his head of blond hair made him stand out anywhere.

But he still couldn't find that familiar figure. His heart tightened, and the worst-case scenario popped into his head. Unable to help himself, he asked the security staff, "Excuse me, I just want to confirm—other than the omega and their compatible alpha, is there anyone else still inside?"

"No, sir. All unrelated personnel have been evacuated."

Xia Lin made one last attempt to call Kain, but the result: no answer.

Damn, fate is a bitch. He quickly typed out a message and sent it to Kain. Whether the other party would ever see it was no longer his concern.

Then, he opened the "All Alphas Can Go to Hell Alliance" chat group, snapped a photo, and sent it—

[Xia Lin, Not Lin Xia: Congrats to my third alpha for meeting an omega with a pheromone compatibility rate above 60% and successfully entering heat. [Blue Horizon sealed-off photo].jpg]

   [Prettier Than Any Omega: ……]

[All in Heat Are Idiots: ……]

[The World Is My Background: Hahahaha, congratulations! Seriously, why even bother dating a walking reproductive organ? Xia Mengmeng, congrats on escaping hell.]

[Xia Lin, Not Lin Xia: You’re absolutely right.]

[The World Is My Background: Don’t forget, you promised a live-stream of you eating a keyboard!]

Xia Lin exited the chat, took one last look at the Blue Horizon Cafe, and headed straight home.

Xia Lin was a beta.

At Noah Corporation, there were 8,360 betas, 216 alphas, and only 30 omegas living stable lives. With an omega-to-other-gender ratio as low as 0.3%, their company still managed to be rated as an "Outstanding Gender Equality Enterprise" for three consecutive years. For reference, there were only 100 companies with this title nationwide, and the highest omega ratio among them was a mere 1.7%. Xia Lin clicked his tongue in amazement—such a tiny percentage being considered the national leader? Unbelievable.

It couldn't be helped. Omegas were naturally rare. The AO ratio wasn’t even 1:1. Every omega grew up experiencing relentless, hurricane-like courtship. Most omegas were already spoken for before they even graduated. On top of that, after marriage, heat cycles and pregnancy often led them to return home as full-time spouses.

Zhou Zuo wasn’t having it.

"This is blatant discrimination! Alphas have heat cycles too! Alphas also get parental leave! Why aren’t alphas the ones raising kids? My husband Gu Cheng does a great job at it! I’m giving him an extra chicken leg tonight!"

Zhou Zuo was one of the thirty omegas at Noah Corporation. He got married and had a child right after graduating from university. While most omegas became stay-at-home parents, he chose to pursue his career and "realize his personal value."

[Xia Lin: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your Gu Cheng is the best. Now eat your chicken leg."]

Zhou Zuo took a bite, then asked, "Where’s Kain? On a business trip?"

Xia Lin didn’t even bother correcting the title and replied directly, "We broke up."

"What?!" Zhou Zuo almost dropped his chicken leg.

"Yesterday."

Zhou Zuo was stunned. "Didn’t he swear you were his one true love, never to be abandoned?"

"And then he saw his ‘one true love’ omega go into heat right in front of him." Xia Lin rolled his eyes. "And their compatibility rate is actually over 60%. A match made in heaven. So romantic."

Zhou Zuo whistled. "Alphas really are unreliable. Just last week, he asked me what style of underwear you liked. I told him to buy you a thong. Did you get it?"

"Zhou Zuo…"

"Okay, okay, let’s drop it. No wonder I saw an encrypted document from HR. Probably this whole mess. A week of heat leave, plus a transfer to another branch. Hmph, encrypted my ass. If he’s gone for over a week, even a blind man would know what he’s doing. Poor Xia Lin. I bet the company gossip will spread soon—‘Single Alpha Terminator Xia Lin! Every alpha he dates ends up meeting their perfect omega in heat!’"

Xia Lin sighed at his long-time friend’s teasing. "Please, I beg you, don’t spread that. I just want to be a quiet, single dog."

"Too late. You do realize Kain already marked you as his, right?"

Xia Lin: "What the hell do you mean?"

Zhou Zuo: "Last time a beta said he wanted to pursue you, Kain overheard and declared, ‘He’s mine.’"

Xia Lin was horrified. "What the actual f***?! Why didn’t I know about this?!"

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Well, now you do. Xia Lin, you’re about to become famous at Noah." Zhou Zuo predicted with zero sincerity.

Xia Lin had terrible luck in love.

In school, his ex-girlfriend was an alpha—sweet-looking but fierce. She once even tried to force herself on him, tools prepared and all. But halfway through, she encountered her fated omega in heat, abandoned Xia Lin on the spot, and ended up a legend in the school.

His ex-boyfriend in school was also an alpha. Just when Xia Lin thought switching genders for love might be the answer, this gentle junior fulfilled all his emotional needs. Their relationship deepened… until fate intervened again. Another fated omega in heat appeared, and Xia Lin was effortlessly dumped.

From then on, Xia Lin developed an extreme aversion to alphas and relationships. For four years, whenever he met an alpha, he automatically put on a polite but distant mask, internally screaming, "Alphas can go to hell!"

Then came Kain.

A perfect gentleman. A perfect boss. A perfect flirt.

Xia Lin initially resisted, but after three years of unwavering pursuit, even the coldest heart would waver.

So he thought, fine, let’s give it a shot. He had planned to accept Kain’s confession at Blue Horizon and officially start their relationship.

Yet, before they even got together, Kain—like the dumbass he was—had already claimed Xia Lin as his. And just when they were one step away from being official, fate once again delivered its cruel joke: a pheromone match over 60%.

Alphas really were just walking reproductive organs. Xia Lin, a former member of the "Alphas Go to Hell Alliance" who once held a sliver of hope, had finally learned his lesson.

Ha. The universe never lies.

BAM!

An enraged Xia Lin punched the sandbag. Screw dating an alpha!

After venting his frustration by imagining Kain as the punching bag, Xia Lin ordered a chocolate keyboard online. A promise is a promise—time for a live-streamed keyboard feast.
