The small pillow suddenly vanished without a trace. In the days that followed, the man’s mood plummeted to rock bottom. He couldn’t muster the energy to do anything, as if he had lost his soul...
“It’s just an old pillow, nothing important,” he kept comforting himself. But whenever he lay awake at night, he would desperately miss his sky-blue pillow. And when he finally fell asleep, he would dream of that boy in the sky-blue jacket. The boy’s figure drifted farther and farther away. He ran with all his might, trying to reach out and grasp the boy’s hand, not wanting him to leave…
“Ding-dong—ding-dong—”
The urgent ringing of the doorbell abruptly shattered his dream. But he hadn’t caught the boy’s hand yet, and his heart filled with regret.
He got up and went to open the door. The moment it swung open, he froze in place.
“…Little Pillow?”
Standing outside was the boy from his dreams, dressed in a sky-blue jacket. The man’s voice trembled slightly as he spoke, disbelief written all over his face.
“…Mm.”
Little Pillow had missed the man dearly in the days they had been apart. Being alone out there had been too difficult, too lonely. Even if the man had found a new pillow, he only wished he wouldn’t be abandoned completely. He just wanted to be held sometimes, just a little…
Lowering his head, Little Pillow hesitated, not knowing how to explain everything now that he had taken human form and was truly standing before the man.
But before he could say anything, he was suddenly pulled into a tight embrace.
The man held onto him with all his strength, as if he would never let go again.
The hug was a little too tight, and Little Pillow felt a slight ache, but in his heart, warmth and security spread. For the first time, he could wrap his arms around the man’s waist like this…
“My Pillow, my Little Pillow…” The man whispered his name over and over, voice filled with emotion. Then, leaning close to his ear, he murmured tenderly, “I like you. Please don’t leave me again, alright?”
The words were so beautiful, so heartwarming. Little Pillow felt overwhelmed with happiness, his voice choked as he softly replied, “Mm… I like you too. I always have… always…”
A new day arrived, sunlight once again spilling over the city, warming the two people tightly embracing each other.
