Hi! This is afei, uhhmm I dont know how to start this one but I got a job and I need to do something related to it for more than 6 months so I will continue translating things after it. So I will see you guys laterrr.....
Garius had gone to work, but Joey, recovering at home, wasn’t one to sit idle.
As soon as his legs regained their strength, he eagerly trotted over to the incubation room next door to check on his big goose—his child.
The entire room had been remodeled into an incubation chamber. More than half of it was filled with large tanks of pale green fluid, while the rest housed control panels, wiring, and vials for injecting new nutrient solutions—things Joey didn’t really understand.
At just over four months old, the little one was only the size of a lemon. Suspended in the center of the tank, its tiny body was held in place by delicate tubes, with an umbilical cord connected to a nutrient supply line.
Though still somewhat indistinct, the baby’s features had begun to take shape—tiny hands and feet, wisps of hair, and delicate facial features. Occasionally, its mouth would move as if listening to something.
Its little hands weren’t idle either.
One moment, it was slowly tugging at its umbilical cord; the next, both hands would open wide before curling into fists again, performing a tiny hand-flower motion.
Joey’s dark, round dog-like eyes remained fixed on his big goose—his child—with a mix of unfamiliarity and affection.
Wow, so this is what babies look like inside the belly…
His gaze drifted downward, pausing at the tiny legs spread apart. After a moment of silence, Joey broke into a goofy, doting fatherly grin.
"Son, you’re so small."
Placing his hand on the glass, his eyes sparkled with excitement.
He gently tapped on the thick glass. The tiny one, who had been wriggling just a moment ago, suddenly stilled, as if ‘looking’ in his direction.
Joey held his breath and watched intently. After a long pause, the baby finally lifted both tiny hands and—pa!
A perfect little hand-flower bloomed.
Joey: !!!
Hiss—
Quick, bring me a blood bag! This—this is way too cute?!
The dumbfounded dad had no idea what to do. Overcome with excitement, he started pacing back and forth in front of the glass.
He wanted to tap again but was afraid of startling the baby, so he held back. Still, he clung to the glass with both hands, cheeks flushed, staring longingly at his little one for an entire afternoon, refusing to leave.
Dressed in a sharp suit, the new black-haired butler, Resdon—who had traces of another species in his bloodline—came over several times to remind Joey that he needed to rest. But Joey refused to budge.
A smile eerily similar to Lucian’s appeared on Reston’s face. Not long after, Joey received a video call from Garius.
Joey’s eyes widened. He looked at Reston like a tattletale schoolkid: Young man, you have no sense of honor!
Reston smiled. "Please answer the call."
Joey: …
You win.
He reluctantly answered the video call. Looking up from a lower angle, he appeared especially meek as he peered at the man on the screen.
Golden hair was slicked back from Garius’s temples, cascading over his uniform-clad shoulders. A crimson forehead ornament adorned his brow.
His posture was upright and elegant.
His long, narrow eyes watched Joey’s obedient demeanor with a faint smile.
"Did you do something wrong?"
The three words, cold and firm, sounded different coming from Garius’s lips—laced with helpless indulgence and affection.
"…Yes." Joey nodded reluctantly.
"You can see our son anytime. He’s right next to the bedroom. If you miss him at night, I can take you to sit with him for a while. But right now, your body needs rest—don’t make me worry. Or do you want me to come back and keep you company, hmm?"
Garius narrowed his eyes, his smile fading. The cold expression on his face was intimidating.
But Joey wasn’t afraid.
Don’t be fooled—this dog isn’t dumb. Joey was smart.
The moment he heard Garius’s tone, he knew the man wasn’t actually angry. His eyes darted around, scheming.
He planned to agree for now and sneak back to play with his big goose after the call ended. After all, Reston couldn’t physically drag him away.
Of course, Garius saw right through him. Amusement flickered in his eyes as he said, "Stay on the call and return to your room. I’ll have Reston lock the incubation room door. Only he and I have the key."
So don’t even think about it.
"Why?!" Joey drooped his head in frustration. "I’m already better…"
Garius raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Is that so?"
"Mhm! Mhm! Mhm!"
"Then I’ll test it tonight." If you're truly fine, good. If not—well, then your butt will bloom like a flower. Oh wait, no… let’s say an open hole instead.
Joey: "…!"
You heartless, ruthless, unreasonable man!
Not wanting his butt to bloom into a hole, Joey angrily stormed back to the bedroom.
He tossed the communicator aside, wrapped himself up in the blanket like a silkworm cocoon, and used every ounce of his body language to express his grief and indignation.
"…"
On the other end of the video call, Garius sighed as he scanned the messy view of tangled blankets. Eventually, he managed to spot two tufts of black curly hair sticking out from the pile. Seeing that Joey was genuinely sulking, Garius softened and relented.
"After some time, I’ll take you to see Lucian."
The moment those words left his lips, Joey, who had been sulking under the blankets, trembled all over and suddenly sat up.
"Really?!"
"Mhm."
Joey instantly beamed with joy. He smacked two kisses at the screen before hurriedly urging his partner, "Okay, okay, I won’t argue anymore. I’m going to sleep now. Bye-bye!"
Like a dog that changed its mood with the wind, Joey immediately hung up the video call, leaving Garius on the other end with a face as soft as water.
Standing nearby, Amon watched his superior stare longingly at the blank screen even after the call had ended. Clicking his tongue twice, he thought to himself—Ah, spring has truly arrived. Even an iceberg is starting to melt.
However, all of Garius’s tenderness was reserved for his small, delicate mate.
When it came to subordinates and outsiders, the Director of Surveillance quickly returned to his usual cold and imposing demeanor. Casting an indifferent glance at Amon, he asked, "What’s the latest on the royal family?"
"Ah." Amon immediately straightened his posture and reported, "Ever since you brought the Third Prince to the Supreme Military Court and exposed the Emperor’s cover-up, His Majesty has been absolutely furious and refuses to back down."
"And the people we placed by the Empress’s side?"
"They’ve already informed the Empress of the Emperor’s recent actions."
The Emperor was a foolish old man, easily swayed by others.
But it was precisely such people who failed to understand their limits. Lacking self-awareness and stubbornly believing that no one would dare to touch him, he had already pushed things to the point of no return.
People like him couldn’t be forced into submission. He would only yield when he was at death’s door.
As a member of the Heine family, Garius had his own principles and beliefs. He had never cared about the throne.
The Heine family guarded something far greater than a mere seat of power.
Had Joey never returned—had he been lost forever—Garius, in his grief and rage, would have undoubtedly overthrown the royal family, abandoned his clan’s will, and become a ruthless ruler.
But Joey did come back.
Joey, with his resilience and warmth, had eased Garius’s pain. The human, so full of understanding and support, had strengthened the wavering convictions of a hero.
It might sound unexpected, but in truth—Joey was the one who gave Garius courage.
Garius Heine would always be Garius Heine—the heir to his family's will, the silent guardian of the Empire.
And so, he wouldn’t truly kill the old Emperor. At most, he would eliminate Harry, the one who had crossed his bottom line, and ensure that a more competent ruler took the throne instead…
"Contact Joseph and have him prepare to return to Ottoman. Since our people have already warned the Empress, given her personality, she will definitely try to persuade the Emperor to abandon Harry. Harry knows this too—he will run."
Amon nodded in understanding.
Garius clasped his hands together on the table, his narrowed golden-green pupils filled with icy resolve.
"And the moment he runs… will be the moment he dies!"
He had only two choices: face judgment or face vengeance.
On a personal level, the young Director of Surveillance very, very much hoped that Harry would foolishly choose the latter.
Because if he did—then Garius would make sure to personally send him on his way!
