ADLH Chapter 9: Alzheimer's-style Love
In the office.
Qian Ji furrowed his brow, his large hand gripping Ruan Xingzhou's face, trying to tear away the human clinging tightly to him.
His serious face contorted from the pressure, revealing an unexpected contrast in his demeanor.
Ruan Xingzhou kicked at Qian Ji's waist, who was a head taller than him, and looked up at him with dark eyes, as if saying: "If you're pulling me off, it means I lose!"
Qian Ji's face darkened, his golden snake-like eyes cold and merciless. His body, as sturdy as a warrior’s, was like iron, with light brown skin tough as steel.
When he lowered his gaze slightly, his intimidating presence felt like facing a thousand troops.
It was terrifying!
One would feel that they might be killed…
Absolutely killed…
In her mind, Yuna screamed in panic and quickly glanced at Ruan Xingzhou, her lips trembling.
"President Ruan, quickly, quickly let go—!"
Do you want to melt like that little ghost? He’s clearly not human either!
Then, that large hand lifted and swung down. It could completely cover Ruan Xingzhou's head, and if he applied force…
Bang!
His head would explode like a watermelon…
Wow! It’s going to shatter—his skull is going to shatter!
Yuna covered her eyes, her fingers parting slightly, her big eyes peeking out, trembling as she watched.
But then…
Slap.
Qian Ji, looking fierce and cold-blooded, slapped the true bastard CEO (who was also a bit crazy) Ruan Xingzhou’s backside. The impact made it bounce a little.
“Damn human.”
Qian Ji glanced at him indifferently, grabbing the lump of soft flesh, holding Ruan Xingzhou in place, and then sat down with him in a chair.
Yuna: Huh? Huh? Aren’t you angry? Aren’t you going to hit him!?
If you’re not angry, why make such a fierce face? And what’s with the position you’re in? Are you two… gay?
Yuna thought to herself: No wonder President Ruan has no interest in women, turns out he’s gay. After recalling all those flirty looks she had thrown his way earlier—
Tsk! Eating dog food, Yuna pouted, feeling inexplicably angry.
"You got yourself into trouble with annoying bugs on my first day away," Qian Ji snapped his fingers.
His clothes and appearance instantly shifted into the human form Yuna had seen before. Qian Ji smirked, his golden pupils reflecting Ruan Xingzhou's face.
“Such a troublesome human.”
Ruan Xingzhou didn’t speak, his face buried in Qian Ji's neck as he took deep breaths, almost like he was inhaling oxygen, even reaching out to touch him.
"I missed you so much," the human shamelessly cooed.
The young dragon prince, being both sucked on and petted, gritted his teeth. “Get off me!”
“No.”
“Get off!”
“No.”
“Damn it!”
The authoritative man was clearly not familiar with being coquettish. He tried to maintain his dragon majesty, but he felt awkward, his dragon ears hidden in his hair turning red.
To him, humans were too fragile, so he didn’t pull hard.
It didn’t hurt or tickle—just a gentle push.
Ruan Xingzhou, expressionless, continued to enjoy himself.
Yuna felt her mouth twitch: Although he seems to dislike it, I... I somehow feel like he's really being pampered. What is this?
She thought to herself when Qian Ji’s gaze fell on her.
"Your body has the same aura. Did you raise this little ghost?" Qian Ji coldly asked her.
Yuna jumped in surprise and quickly shook her head, hurriedly telling him about the nursery rhyme and the trouble she had caused the little ghost. She didn’t know why, but whenever she faced this man, she felt like she wanted to bow down. There was no other thought in her mind.
“Is it a blessing chant?” Qian Ji furrowed his brow.
Blessing chant?
Ruan Xingzhou, "obediently" lying on Qian Ji's body, looked up. “What’s a blessing chant?”
Qian Ji paused for a second, gazing at his face, and said, "Don’t give me that look. It’s disgusting."
The "obedient" face instantly collapsed. President Ruan, now cold-faced, climbed off him and kicked Qian Ji's knee.
"Hmph! Annoying!"
“…”
Yuna, who had been trying to stay unnoticed, facepalmed: ... President Ruan, before you turn from a clingy kitten into an arrogant princess, could you please stop making that expression? Are you serious using a mocking face while doing that? Aren't you just asking for a beating?!
This Alzheimer’s-level love intelligence, with a toxic, almost war-like cold sarcasm…
Yuna smiled: Hehe, the cycle of karma always works.
She keenly noticed that President Ruan was in fact trying to win over the man, and couldn’t help but feel a bit gleeful—look at him, always out of reach, but now, he's getting a taste of his own medicine.
Thinking the human was venting his frustration, Qian Ji stared at the shoe prints on his knee, his dragon horns nearly popping out.
“Damn human!”
Ruan thinks he’s cute and innocent Xingzhou chanted, "No, I want to hear you call me 'Zhou Zhou'!"
“…”
“…”
Qian Ji gritted his teeth, "…I think you want me to turn you into porridge!"
Yuna: “…” Pfft!
Seeing Qian Ji’s expression, Ruan Xingzhou frowned, wondering: Even though I’m acting cute like a girl, why isn’t he happy? Instead, he’s getting angrier and angrier…
Men, they’re just so hard to win over.
Ignoring the man who kept making him angry, Qian Ji rubbed his forehead and pressed down his dragon horns. He explained in a slightly impatient tone.
“Blessing chants are words of blessings that have power, connecting souls through language and text. The chant you spoke is the simplest form, gaining power by increasing the number of people who bless someone. The person who is blessed is then connected to the one offering the blessing.”
“The chant isn’t a problem, perhaps someone offered up the little ghost, wanting to get rid of it, and used this method to transfer it to someone else.”
“So that’s it.”
Yuna lowered her head, realizing that she should’ve minded her own business. She wasn’t a savior, after all. She was lucky to have survived this close call.
"Secretary Yuna." Ruan Xingzhou, as if knowing what she was thinking, suddenly said, "In this world, the problem is never with those who reach out to help others, but with those who take advantage of their kindness."
Yuna looked up, stunned.
Without those toxic actions, President Ruan, who looked every bit like a domineering CEO, was calm and serious as he said, “You did nothing wrong. You did well.”
Yuna's lips drooped, her eyes reddening, and she struggled not to cry.
“Thank you, President Ruan.”
Ruan Xingzhou nodded, “Alright, go back and rest today.”
“Mm!”
Yuna nodded vigorously, her face showing a slight smile. She turned to leave, but suddenly, her body went limp, and she collapsed.
Qian Ji stood up, his eyes narrowing, his golden cold-blooded gaze flashing with a dark glimmer. He turned to look at the bewildered Ruan Xingzhou, his face emotionless.
"This human knows of my existence."
"So what?"
The two locked eyes, and Ruan Xingzhou frowned. "What are you going to do?"
Qian Ji looked down at Ruan Xingzhou, who was still sitting.
"If I say that I’ll kill her to silence her, what will you do?"
His face showed a look of cruel amusement, the sharp arc of his lips holding a mocking, evil smile.
How will you respond?
His lips, beautiful with the lower one having a small black mole, curled into a sardonic grin as he waited for Ruan Xingzhou’s answer.
Ruan Xingzhou spoke plainly, “I’ll probably help hide the body.”
Qian Ji's pupils contracted, his gaze locked on Ruan Xingzhou’s face.
Ruan Xingzhou spoke with serious sincerity, his tone flat, his eyes and expression showing no sign of lying, even sounding almost natural.
“Why?” Qian Ji asked.
Ruan Xingzhou responded, “You are my only salvation. Compared to you, other lives are precious, but not irreplaceable. Protecting what’s important and sacrificing what’s less important—that’s human nature.”
“To me, nothing is more important than you,” Ruan Xingzhou said. “Qian Ji, I’ll always stand by you. Even if it means killing, I’d do it if you asked.”
Without realizing that the words he said, more touching than any collection of love poems, made his gaze burn with passion, Ruan Xingzhou stared at the young dragon prince.
His black eyes were entirely focused on the man in front of him.
As though he truly loved him to the bone…
“…”
Heh~ this damn human.
Pressing his tongue to his teeth, Qian Ji for the first time really saw Ruan Xingzhou as a person.
“She’s not dead. I’ve just erased some of her memories.”
Qian Ji said coldly, glancing at the woman collapsed on the floor, before his gaze returned to Ruan Xingzhou.
“Let’s go. It’s time to head back.”
The tall figure turned into a flash of golden light and disappeared. Ruan Xingzhou blinked.
Was it his imagination?
Did Qian Ji…
Seem a little happy?
