ADLH Chapter 8: Is this a deformity of Avatar?
Not only was Yuna extremely shocked, but even the little ghost didn't understand why it had been touched by a human and even pinned down and beaten on the ground. Every punch felt like it was being burned!
Damn man! Damn man!
The faint ghostly energy was knocked out of the little ghost's body with each punch. It opened its mouth in a horrible scream, its small sharp teeth and blue ghostly face appearing even more terrifying under the green, eerie light. When Ruan Xingzhou saw its face, he paused in surprise.
The little ghost immediately seized the opening, its blood-red eyes glaring at Ruan Xingzhou with hatred. Its body suddenly faded and disappeared into the air.
"I will kill you and that woman! Neither of you will leave today..."
The sound of a child's innocent laughter echoed in the office, making it even more chilling in the cold, terrifying room.
Yuna's eyes widened, her eyeballs frantically moving in their sockets. Cold sweat poured down her pale face as she clumsily crawled up from the sofa and threw herself into Ruan Xingzhou's arms, grabbing his clothes with her fingers.
"Mr. Ruan, you saw it, right? I wasn't lying! Wuwu—I'm telling the truth, there’s a ghost! Why did you let it go earlier? Look at the way it looked! If that’s not a ghost, then what is it?!"
"Secretary Yuna, let me repeat once more, you're an educated Party member, you shouldn't believe in things that don’t exist. It’s just a child," Ruan Xingzhou frowned and said, "Although it does look a bit ugly, it should be a deformity. If it were truly a ghost, how could I have knocked it down so easily?"
At first, he thought the figure was just a small, thin man. But when it flickered under the light, he realized it was a boy. Moreover, the area around his collarbone, where the mark of Qian Ji had been etched, was faintly burning, which made Ruan Xingzhou a bit concerned.
"......"
Just a child? A deformity? Heh, I really fell for your lies!
Yuna was so enraged by her boss that she almost burst into tears: "You can't just let it go just because it’s a child! And what kind of deformity has shark teeth, blue skin, and blood-red eyes? That’s not the son of Avatar!"
After saying this, she couldn’t control herself and squatted down, crying loudly, half from fear and half from being utterly pissed.
Facing Yuna's loud sobbing, Ruan Xingzhou's gentlemanly education made him squat down, take out a handkerchief from his pocket, and offer it to her.
Yuna saw the handkerchief in front of her, and in a daze, she looked up. The man before her was tall, handsome, mature, and composed, with long brows, starry eyes like the night, a straight nose, and thin, pale red lips. There was a small mole beneath his lips. Even in this situation, he remained calm and unflustered.
So handsome, such a great man!
Before Yuna could finish being moved, she heard Ruan Xingzhou seriously say, "That’s not going to happen."
"Huh? What’s not going to happen?" Yuna was a bit confused.
"Avatar," Ruan Xingzhou said. "There’s no such thing as an Avatar species in the world, so there can’t be deformed descendants of Avatar."
Yuna: "......"
What did I do to deserve this? Or was it my previous life? Yuna looked at Ruan Xingzhou's face and suddenly fell into deep self-reflection: Maybe I destroyed the universe in my past life, otherwise, how could I have encountered such a boss?
Thanks to Mr. Ruan, I’ve cured my years-long obsession with looks, Yuna smiled bitterly, and made a cross on her chest.
Amen.
"Forget it… I’m going home..."
Yuna reached out and pushed away the handkerchief Ruan Xingzhou had handed her. After suffering a huge emotional blow, she stood up and ran toward the office door. She twisted the door handle several times, but found that the door wouldn't open.
Just as she twisted the handle, Yuna suddenly felt that the doorknob had become slippery and icy cold.
Yuna trembled and looked down, only to see that the doorknob had somehow turned into a long, blood-dripping tongue, and as she lowered her head, the tongue licked her palm...
"Ah—!"
Yuna scrambled back, rubbing her hands against the sofa, trying to wipe off the creepy feeling.
Her terrified expression amused the little ghost hiding in the corner. It laughed in a sinister manner.
"You’ll all die, hehehe, all of you will die, especially you!"
Suddenly, two huge blood-red eyeballs appeared on the ceiling, rolling around, and eventually locking onto Ruan Xingzhou’s face.
"You dare hit me! I’ll gouge out your eyes and crush them one by one!"
Ruan Xingzhou looked up in disbelief at the ceiling of his office. The little ghost, seeing his stunned expression, smiled in delight. The floor softened, and many pale ghostly hands grew, reaching out to grab Yuna and Ruan Xingzhou’s ankles.
Yuna rolled her eyes but remained strong enough not to faint. Instead, she jumped three feet high, darting around the room in panic, with the ghostly hands chasing her like an eagle chasing a small chick.
The little ghost grinned wickedly, "How does it feel? Are you scared?"
Just then, Ruan Xingzhou picked up a thick hardcover English book from the desk and aimed it at the ceiling.
Little ghost: "Damn, what are you doing! Stop, stop—!"
The eyeballs on the ceiling were struck dead-center by the book. The little ghost let out a miserable scream, and the eyeballs vanished.
"So it’s true…" Ruan Xingzhou crossed his arms, staring at the ceiling in surprise, "So there really are ghosts?"
Yuna, who was being chased by the ghost hands, almost screamed in relief.
"Finally, you’re awake! Quick, do something, Mr. Ruan, the ground’s getting softer!"
Yuna panted heavily as she ran around the sofa, trying to avoid the ghostly hands clutching at her, but with every step, the ground sank further, especially with her high heels.
Yuna quickly took off her heels and ran barefoot. Ruan Xingzhou also stumbled as he noticed that his feet had sunk into the ground. Many icy white ghostly hands were now reaching up from below, grabbing his legs.
Ruan Xingzhou frowned and tried to break free, but he realized he couldn’t pull his feet out. Some of the ghostly hands had already reached his stomach, and as they tried to move upward, the brand of Qian Ji on his chest suddenly burned intensely!
The flames were hot and bright, but they didn’t burn his skin or clothes. Instead, they turned the topmost ghostly hand to ash.
"Qian Ji…"
Ruan Xingzhou touched the fire on his chest and shoulder. Surprisingly, his fingers weren’t burned. Instead, the warmth spread through his hand.
The other ghostly hands retreated in fear from the fire, only daring to hold his knees and arms.
Yuna, who was also grabbed by the ghostly hands, was stunned when she saw this.
"Mr. Ruan, you must be the protagonist, right?"
Ruan Xingzhou frowned and shook his head, "This is the mark left by Qian Ji. It’s not my power."
"Qian Ji? Who’s that?" Yuna didn’t understand.
Just as Ruan Xingzhou was about to explain, a small grayish-blue ghost suddenly appeared in the air. It grinned widely, its sharp teeth exposed.
"This scent... so delicious..."
Saliva dripped from its mouth as it licked its lips.
"Such pure energy, if I could swallow it..." The sharp, piercing laughter echoed. The ghost extended its long claws, aiming straight for Ruan Xingzhou's chest!
"Mr. Ruan—" Yuna shouted anxiously.
Ruan Xingzhou's face darkened, "Don’t touch it!"
Don’t touch what Qian Ji left for me!
The little ghost didn’t care. Although it had been hurt by this man before, now that its legs and arms were captured, the human was no longer a threat.
Just as Ruan Xingzhou was about to have his heart ripped out, an authoritative, indifferent voice echoed through the space.
"Who gave you permission to touch what belongs to this Lord?"
A man with golden snake-like pupils suddenly appeared behind Ruan Xingzhou.
He had light brown skin, and his body was barely covered by a long white cloth tied at his waist with a red rope adorned with jade tassels. His muscular form was exposed.
From his ankles upwards, dark red symbols spread across his body, reaching his face.
The man’s golden eyes showed no emotion, looking down from above, as if he were a ruler.
His short, dark red hair was combed back, with two small blood-coral horns growing at the sides of his forehead.
The moment he appeared, all the ghostly hands were engulfed in bright golden flames, turning to ash within seconds. The once green, eerie office was now bathed in golden light.
Even the little ghost only let out a brief scream before its body melted away like wax exposed to the sun, leaving nothing behind.
"Oh my god… instant kill..."
Yuna fell to the ground, swallowing nervously. But when she saw the man’s face clearly, her eyes widened, and she screamed, "Aren’t you Mr. Ruan’s friend?!"
My god, a savior!
"Finally, someone’s come to save us!" Yuna cried out, feeling a sense of safety.
Yuna immediately ran to the most reassuring figure, hugging Qian Ji tightly.
Ruan Xingzhou, seeing this, slapped his face with frustration. His expression darkened, and he walked over to Qian Ji, pulling Yuna away and throwing her toward the man’s chest and abs, holding onto him tightly.
In an unconvincing ‘scared’ tone with lifeless eyes, he mimicked Yuna's words.
"I’m so scared, wuwu."
Qian Ji: "..."
Yuna: So scary, so scary, wuwu!
