AD Chapter 37
Chu Zichen squatted on the ground, looking up at Gu Lingfeng with a gaze full of reliance. His whole demeanor was enough to stir any man’s protective instincts. Gu Lingfeng reached out and patted his head. “Work hard and finish today’s scenes.”
Chu Zichen had originally wanted to act cute and convince Gu Lingfeng to take him away early. But upon hearing that, he was instantly deflated. How could he forget that Gu Lingfeng wasn’t just a workaholic himself, but also held high standards for others? He didn’t tolerate people slacking off.
Having already established an image of being serious and hardworking in front of Gu Lingfeng, Chu Zichen didn’t dare throw a tantrum now. He looked back every few steps, repeatedly reminding Gu Lingfeng.
“I’ll finish soon. Lingfeng, make sure you wait for me.”
Maybe it was because Gu Lingfeng was watching, but Chu Zichen was especially diligent during filming afterward. He had far fewer NGs and didn’t cause any more trouble for Su Ning. Without him dragging things down, the shoot progressed rapidly. A schedule that was supposed to take half a day ended nearly two hours early.
The director had wanted to shoot a bit more, but with the big boss waiting nearby, he didn’t dare force anyone to stay. He decided to wrap things up early and treat it as a short break for the crew.
Gu Lingfeng kept his word and took Chu Zichen out for dinner. He didn’t bring his own assistant, instead having Su Ning drive them.
Inside the car, with no crew watching, Chu Zichen acted even more unabashedly, clinging to Gu Lingfeng and whining.
“Lingfeng, after dinner, I want to see the night view. Will you go with me, pretty please?” Chu Zichen clung to Gu Lingfeng’s arm, half his body leaned into the man’s embrace, his voice sweet and coy—so much so that Su Ning, driving in front, got goosebumps just listening.
Gu Lingfeng didn’t give a clear response. He enjoyed his lover’s coquettishness, but he never let desire sway his decisions. Chu Zichen wasn’t willing to give up, so he clambered onto Gu Lingfeng’s lap, wrapping his arms around the man’s neck. Pressing close, he whispered by Gu Lingfeng’s ear while teasing his earlobe with his tongue:
“I haven’t seen you in so long... I missed you so much. My mouth misses you, my heart misses you... every part of me misses you.”
After all, he was still a man—Gu Lingfeng was slightly aroused, but he hated being ruled by desire.
“Sit properly. Don’t move around.”
Chu Zichen didn’t mind having a little pre-dinner action. He knew Gu Lingfeng liked not only his face but also his body—that was his capital, and he intended to use it wisely.
So instead of sitting back down, Chu Zichen gritted his teeth, then decisively straddled Gu Lingfeng, hugging the man’s neck and leaning in close to whisper:
“I don’t mind if you eat me before dinner.”
The partition in the car hadn’t been raised, so Su Ning could clearly hear what was happening in the back. Through the rearview mirror, he could even see Gu Lingfeng’s slightly cold face.
This Chu Zichen was bold—did he think Su Ning didn’t exist? Or was it... intentional?
Su Ning kept his eyes on the road, driving steadily.
This was nothing. Back when he used to drive for Gu Lingfeng, the man had once gone all the way with a previous lover in the backseat. Su Ning had even deliberately taken a longer route to give them time, only heading home after they were finished.
As Chu Zichen continued, he began grinding his hips on Gu Lingfeng. Sensing a reaction from the man’s body, his heart leapt with joy. Just as he was about to go further, he looked up—only to meet Gu Lingfeng’s cold, stern gaze.
—It was definitely not the look of someone turned on.
Instantly, all desire vanished. Chu Zichen didn’t dare move anymore, and quietly slid off Gu Lingfeng’s lap.
No one spoke for a while. The air felt stifling. Chu Zichen grew anxious, unsure if Gu Lingfeng was truly angry. He sneaked glances at the man’s expression but couldn’t read anything, and didn’t have the courage to speak first.
Not long after, Su Ning broke the silence from the front.
“President Gu, we’ve arrived.”
The car stopped in front of the Western restaurant Chu Zichen had mentioned.
Before getting out, Gu Lingfeng casually told Su Ning, “Go find something to eat on your own.”
Su Ning nodded. “Yes, President Gu.”
Chu Zichen caught that, and a flicker of jealousy flared in his heart. But then he thought about how he’d be the one dining with Gu Lingfeng, while Su Ning would be left eating alone—his mood instantly balanced again.
After getting out, Chu Zichen acted as if nothing had happened, clutching Gu Lingfeng’s arm and heading upstairs. After a few steps, he deliberately turned around and gave Su Ning a mocking smile.
Su Ning just smiled back indifferently, thinking how childish and petty Chu Zichen was—like a kid fighting for attention. But whether it was him or Chu Zichen, they were both just fleeting passersby in Gu Lingfeng’s life—ultimately insignificant. Acting out like this would only lead to humiliation.
Shaking his head, Su Ning quickly put Chu Zichen out of mind. It was a rare chance to not be bossed around, and he was determined to enjoy a peaceful meal for once.
Su Ning had thought Gu Lingfeng and Chu Zichen would at least have a leisurely dinner and admire the view together, whispering sweet nothings. But just as he finished his own meal, he got a call from Gu Lingfeng, asking him to drive to the restaurant entrance and pick them up.
—Were they heading to a hotel now?
Su Ning guessed silently but didn’t hesitate. He soon drove to the entrance.
After getting in, Su Ning was still wondering which hotel they were headed to when Gu Lingfeng’s cool voice came from the backseat:
“Back to the set.”
Su Ning was surprised. So they really had only come to see each other and have a quick dinner?
He was only a bit surprised, but Chu Zichen was upset. He began to protest, clinging to Gu Lingfeng’s arm, his tone aggrieved and childish.
“Lingfeng, I don’t want to go back to the set. I want to go to the hotel with you. We haven’t seen each other in so long, and now that we finally meet, it’s just for dinner?”
His expression was full of wronged frustration, like a child denied candy.
Gu Lingfeng remained unmoved, then said something even more unexpected.
“You go back to the set. Su Ning will come back with me—”
Before he could finish, Chu Zichen cut in angrily. “Why? Why does he get to go to the hotel with you while I have to go back alone? He’s just a lowly assistant!”
Gu Lingfeng’s face darkened. He turned his eyes toward Chu Zichen. “Are you questioning me?”
Chu Zichen immediately went silent, his voice dropping again, becoming soft and tearful.
“But I really missed you... Why would you choose an assistant over me?”
