🌷Chapter 1-90

The makeup artist shook her head inwardly. While she wasn’t fond of the way Chu Zichen behaved, he was still a major star, and she was just a makeup artist. No matter what, she had no say in how he acted, so she focused on preparing to do his makeup.

However, when she picked up her makeup tools and was about to apply the first layer of powder, her hand suddenly froze. Her expression visibly darkened.

She noticed that under the slightly open collar of Chu Zichen’s shirt, there were several fresh, visible hickeys on his neck. His skin was pale, and the marks stood out clearly. They were so noticeable that anyone who came close would immediately see them. Judging by Chu Zichen’s demeanor, he had no intention of covering them up.

The makeup artist frowned. She didn’t care about who Chu Zichen had slept with the night before, but the fact that he had left such marks on his skin was a problem. She wasn’t sure how thick a layer of foundation she’d need to cover them.

Yet Chu Zichen seemed utterly shameless, even flaunting it. He boldly pulled open his shirt collar, exposing the hickeys to everyone’s view as if they were medals to be proud of.

Seeing this, the makeup artist couldn’t help but roll her eyes. On the surface, she didn’t dare to express her dissatisfaction, but inwardly, she was unimpressed.

When Su Ning returned with the breakfast, Chu Zichen had almost finished his makeup. Chu Zichen picked through the various items Su Ning had bought, selecting a bowl of porridge. After only a couple of sips, he stopped, frowning and glaring at Su Ning.

“I’m not eating this. You bought meat porridge, knowing I’m on a diet. You’re trying to ruin my figure, aren’t you? Su Ning, you’re so vicious!”

He said this while slapping the porridge bowl into Su Ning’s arms and storming out. Before leaving, he added, “You can keep it. No matter how much you try to play tricks, you’re just an assistant. People will never look at you.”

Su Ning hastily caught the bowl, some of the porridge spilling onto his hands, but fortunately, it didn’t spill on his clothes. He sighed inwardly and met the makeup artist’s gaze, who was watching with a knowing look, making him feel a little embarrassed.

The makeup artist, sensing Su Ning’s discomfort, pretended not to have heard Chu Zichen’s harsh words. She handed him a napkin with a wink and smiled. “Being an assistant is never easy, huh? No matter what you do, they’ll always find something to nitpick.”

Her tone was one of shared understanding. Su Ning accepted the napkin, wiped his hands, and smiled wryly. He didn’t engage in further conversation but pushed the extra breakfast items he’d bought toward her. “I got a bit too much. If you don’t mind, could you help me eat some?”

The makeup artist’s eyes lit up. “I don’t mind at all!”

The two of them sat down to share breakfast.

Because of Chu Zichen’s picky nature, Su Ning always bought a variety of items, often over-purchasing. Since he wasn’t spending his own money, Su Ning didn’t really care about Chu Zichen’s attitude. No matter how much Chu Zichen nitpicked or caused trouble, Su Ning just saw it as childish behavior. After all, he was only an assistant, not a parent, so he didn’t feel the need to intervene.

The makeup artist took a bite of a crab meat bun, savoring it. Her mood lightened as she ate. Between bites, she couldn’t help but glance at Su Ning. Her gaze made Su Ning feel uneasy, and he stopped eating.

“Go ahead, ask whatever you want.” The makeup artist’s eyes brightened, but before she could speak, Su Ning added, “But I may not answer.”

The makeup artist rolled her eyes at him, took a big bite of her bun, and said with a muffled voice, “What’s there not to say? It’s obvious to everyone in the crew who he’s been sleeping with. Judging by the weak, delicate way he’s acting, he probably just got out of someone’s bed.”

Su Ning slowed his eating and suddenly lost his appetite. He looked at the makeup artist in shock.

The makeup artist, oblivious to the implications of her words, continued complaining as if nothing had happened. “It’s one thing if he wants to show off being kept by someone, but he doesn’t have to flaunt it so openly. Is he trying to show off his rich benefactor’s prowess, or is he just proud of himself as some kind of rare, exceptional plaything?”

Su Ning nearly choked on his food, coughing loudly and almost spitting it out. He stared at the makeup artist in shock.

Unfazed by her earlier comments, the makeup artist continued her rant, “Honestly, it doesn’t concern me if he shows off or not. But leaving visible marks like that on his neck is such a hassle. I have to cover them up when I do his makeup. If he couldn’t control himself last night, at least he could keep it to himself and not make everyone else’s job harder.”

Su Ning couldn’t help but laugh. He found the makeup artist amusing.

She finished her bun, wiped her hands slowly with a napkin, and then shot Su Ning a stern look. “You’re an assistant, not his servant. You don’t have to put up with everything. By letting him get away with this, you’re just encouraging him.”

Su Ning didn’t argue. He just smiled and nodded.

The makeup artist glared at him, clearly frustrated, but then she gave up and waved her hand. “Forget it. It’s not my business. I only do his makeup, not his body.” As if imagining something horrifying, she shook her head in fear.

Su Ning was speechless. He couldn’t help but think that the makeup artist had probably chosen the wrong career. She should be acting, not doing makeup.

As the makeup artist had predicted, Chu Zichen’s hickeys were hard to fully cover. The foundation was thick enough, but as he sweated during filming, the makeup started to wear off, and the marks became visible again. Although not as obvious as before, they were still noticeable if you stood close enough.

By the end of the day, everyone in the crew knew about it. The director wasn’t happy and had to have Chu Zichen’s makeup redone multiple times. If the camera angles hadn’t hidden it, the director would have surely exploded.

The crew began looking at Chu Zichen like he was crazy, but he didn’t seem to notice—or maybe he just didn’t care.
