Su Ning lowered his head, nervously following behind Gu Lingfeng. He didn’t understand why Gu Lingfeng had asked him to come along. He had clearly seen the resentful look in Chu Zichen's eyes earlier.
When they reached the elevator, the man in front of him stopped, and Su Ning, not paying attention, bumped into him.
"Ah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Su Ning quickly apologized, covering his forehead, but inwardly muttered, This person's chest is really hard.
"What are you thinking? Can't walk properly?" Gu Lingfeng supported Su Ning, his brow furrowing. Though the words were a scolding, his tone remained as flat as ever, making it hard to discern any emotion.
Su Ning raised his head and gave Gu Lingfeng an apologetic smile. Just then, the elevator door opened. Gu Lingfeng glanced at him briefly before walking in.
They arrived at the room, and Gu Lingfeng took off his jacket while walking toward the bathroom, not even looking at Su Ning. "There's a business banquet tomorrow. Go organize the clothes I need to wear for it."
As he spoke, Gu Lingfeng frowned slightly. It had been a while since his usual personal assistant was around, and the temporary help he'd hired wasn’t quite to his liking, which made him a little frustrated. So, without thinking much, he had brought Su Ning up with him.
It was as if Su Ning was naturally supposed to be by his side.
This feeling came quickly, subtly. Gu Lingfeng's frown deepened for a moment, but before he could reflect on it, it was gone. He didn’t think much more about it.
On the other hand, Su Ning, upon hearing Gu Lingfeng’s instructions, paused for a moment, then seemed to understand something. A smile slowly appeared on his face.
But it wasn’t a relaxed smile—it had a tinge of bitterness.
Su Ning thought he understood why Gu Lingfeng had asked him to come along. He knew that someone as spoiled as Chu Zichen wouldn’t do things like ironing clothes or packing luggage. So, it fell to him, the one accustomed to being a personal assistant, to take care of it.
He sighed inwardly and pushed the thought away, focusing on his task. As a competent assistant, he began organizing Gu Lingfeng's luggage, taking out the suit for the banquet and ironing it before hanging it in the wardrobe, then continued with the rest of the clothes.
When Gu Lingfeng finished showering and came out with a towel wrapped around his waist, he saw Su Ning crouched on the floor, organizing things. Su Ning, with his back to the bathroom, didn’t notice that Gu Lingfeng had come out. He was fully focused on hanging the clothes.
As he reached for a distant shirt, the T-shirt around his waist lifted, revealing a slender, pale waist. It was so delicate that it seemed like two hands could wrap around it, highlighting the curve of his waist.
Gu Lingfeng’s gaze darkened in an instant.
Although this was just a business trip, Gu Lingfeng had brought a lot of clothes. When Su Ning had worked with him before, he was always clear on Gu Lingfeng’s schedule, so he would precisely pack just the right clothes, ensuring there wasn’t too much excess. But now, there were more clothes, and things were a bit disorganized. Su Ning was sweating a little as he tried to tidy up.
He wiped his forehead with his hand and was about to hang up the last shirt when he suddenly felt a hot breath approach. His waist tightened, and before he knew it, he was pulled into a chest much broader than his own.
"President Gu... Gu..." Su Ning, caught off guard, found himself pressed against the man's chest. He instinctively tried to push away, but his hand touched the hard, damp chest, and it burned as if it had been scalded, so he quickly withdrew his hand. Even though his face was hidden, it was easy to guess how awkward he felt.
"I... I haven't finished packing yet," Su Ning spoke in a barely audible voice. As Gu Lingfeng's scorching hand stroked his waist, his body trembled, and he fell limply into Gu Lingfeng’s embrace. He was a normal, grown man with desires, which had been buried beneath dealing with Chu Zichen’s antics for so long that he had forgotten how it felt.
"No need to finish packing."
Warm lips brushed against his ear, and Gu Lingfeng’s voice was low and hoarse. Su Ning opened his mouth as if to say something, but his lips were captured in a kiss, and a warm tongue slipped inside, blocking all his breaths.
In the end, Su Ning did finish packing everything, but it was already the next morning. His body ached with fatigue as he hung the last shirt in the wardrobe.
When Su Ning returned to the set, Chu Zichen had just finished his makeup and was waiting nearby, his mood visibly poor. The staff, seeing his foul temper, deliberately avoided him.
"Be careful. He’s really mad this time; he’ll probably take it out on you again," Fan Xin reminded Su Ning, noticing him returning.
Su Ning gave a bitter smile. "Thanks, Xin Jie."
After yesterday’s situation, Su Ning had no room to refuse. Chu Zichen had blamed everything on him, and he couldn’t do anything about it.
Fan Xin gave Su Ning a once-over and winked, "It’s fine. If he gets too much, you can always talk to the pillow. I think you won’t lose to him in that department."
Su Ning was left speechless. "Xin Jie..."
Fan Xin leaned in a little closer, her gaze scanning Su Ning’s neck. With a teasing smile, she lowered her voice, "You two went together last night, but you were the one left behind, not him. That says a lot. So, I’m telling you, you have to make an effort. See? You just had to try a little, and it was all settled, right?"
"I’m not..." Su Ning tried to explain, but Fan Xin put a finger to her lips, giving him a knowing look that silenced him. He could only smile wryly.
The rest of the day played out just as Fan Xin had predicted. Chu Zichen couldn’t look at Su Ning without finding something to pick on, openly bullying him at every chance. Su Ning had anticipated this and didn’t take it to heart, though it clearly enraged Fan Xin.
The staff, though unsure of the exact details, could see how bad Chu Zichen’s attitude was toward Su Ning, which made them sympathize with him even more and dislike Chu Zichen.
When Chu Zichen’s manager saw how his attitude had been affecting the staff, he privately warned the artist, but Chu Zichen paid no heed. In fact, he became even worse, no longer just looking for trouble, but openly humiliating Su Ning.
When Su Ning brought him food, Chu Zichen only took one bite before throwing the box on the floor. He pointed at Su Ning and shouted, "What kind of food is this? Don’t you know I can’t eat garlic? You did this on purpose to ruin my meal, right? Trying to starve me so I can’t perform in the scene?"
He nearly poked Su Ning’s nose with his finger, glaring at him as if he could eat him alive.
Su Ning lowered his head and glanced at the food scattered on the floor, speaking in a calm voice, "I’ll go buy another one for you, Mr. Chu."
No anger, no argument.
To outsiders, it seemed like he was being bullied so badly that he couldn’t even lift his head, completely submissive.
