The two stared at each other for a moment before Liu Anna forced an awkward smile and asked, “Do you feel unwell? Do you want some water?”
“I don’t want any. I just want to sleep for a bit.” Cui Xisheng felt just as awkward. Sitting was exhausting, so he slowly lay down on Meng Jiangtian’s coat.
“Cui, you don’t look too well. Are you sick?” Liu Anna smiled sweetly and sat down beside him. Know yourself and know your enemy, and you’ll never lose—she needed to understand her opponent.
“You wouldn’t understand even if I told you. I just want to rest. If you’re bored, go talk to someone else,” Cui Xisheng replied bluntly, making it clear that he wanted her to leave.
Perhaps because she had already been rejected once, Liu Anna didn’t seem embarrassed this time. Instead, she thickened her skin and said, “Jiangtian-gege told me to take care of you. I can’t just run off. Cui, how did you and Jiangtian-gege meet?”
“……” Cui Xisheng chose silence.
“You and Jiangtian-gege seem really close. He cares a lot about you.”
“……”
“How old are you? Are you the same age as him?”
“……”
“Are you in the same class? It seems like his friends don’t know you.”
Gurgle…
“Cui, are you hungry?”
“I’m not. I just want to sleep. Can you stop talking?” Cui Xisheng finally snapped, glaring at her.
Gurgle…
His stomach betrayed him with a loud growl. Cui Xisheng’s face immediately flushed red—he wished he could dive straight into a horde of zombies.
After a month of nausea and vomiting, he had never felt hunger before. But now, at this crucial moment, he suddenly did. His own stomach had utterly humiliated him.
“You’re obviously hungry. How can you sleep like that?”
“If I fall asleep, I won’t feel hungry.”
“You’ll wake up from hunger.”
Cui Xisheng, face still red, suddenly felt that Liu Anna was just arguing for the sake of arguing.
“I’m hungry. Can you find me something to eat? Meng Jiangtian told you to take care of me, right? Well, I’m hungry now, so go get me food.” Frustrated and embarrassed, Cui Xisheng shouted impatiently.
Liu Anna, who had been smiling just moments ago, suddenly looked pitiful. Tears welled up in her eyes as she said, “Cui, I’m just an ordinary person. Where am I supposed to find food?
If you’re really hungry, I… I can go downstairs and look for something. This is a dormitory building—maybe someone left snacks in their room.
I’ll go find something for you. Just don’t be mad at me, okay? If you get angry, Jiangtian-gege will be upset with me.”
Tears shimmered in her eyes as she stood up, looking fragile and sorrowful.
Cui Xisheng stared at her in confusion. What the hell? Why is she suddenly acting all delicate?
And she’s actually offering to get food for me? Is she really that kind? Can she not tell I was just trying to make her leave?
As he watched Liu Anna’s exaggerated Lin Daiyu performance, she suddenly looked up past him and gasped in shock.
She hurriedly wiped away the nonexistent tears from the corners of her eyes, looking both aggrieved and restrained. In a delicate voice, she called out, “Jiangtian-gege, when did you come back?”
Cui Xisheng raised an eyebrow and turned around.
Meng Jiangtian was walking toward them, carrying two cushions, his expression dark as if someone owed him a fortune.
Cui Xisheng glanced at Liu Anna’s pitiful act and immediately understood what was happening.
Well, damn.
So white lotus girls really do exist—just like in the novels. And one of them is right in front of me.
Does that make me the misunderstood heroine?
The thought only lasted a second before Cui Xisheng dismissed it.
I’m a guy—I can’t be the female lead. Besides, in Meng Jiangtian’s heart, the real heroine is this white lotus right here.
