"Fine, but you are not allowed to touch this food."

Meng Jiangtian agreed without much hesitation.

But these supplies had been painstakingly gathered to help Cui Xisheng recover—there was no way he would share them.

"No one would dare touch them," the student president said meaningfully. The blood from those three men hadn’t even dried yet.

With Meng Jiangtian’s approval, the student president and the two ability users left, carefully stepping around the pool of blood left behind.

The student president wanted to clean up the blood, fearing it would attract zombies. But he was also worried that Meng Jiangtian wouldn’t approve. Besides, leaving the blood there served as a warning—no one would dare have designs on that food now.

As he watched the student president leave, Meng Jiangtian glanced at the bloodstain before turning back to ask Cui Xisheng, "Did you throw up today?"

"No," Cui Xisheng shook his head. There had been no morning sickness, no dizziness from anemia—he actually felt pretty good.

"Even after seeing all that blood, you didn’t feel sick?"

"Do you want me to throw up?"

"No." Meng Jiangtian shook his head, his hand slowly shifting as he held Cui Xisheng’s small hand, inching toward his wrist.

Cui Xisheng instantly noticed and widened his eyes in alarm, struggling to pull his hand away. He shouted sternly, "Don’t touch randomly!"

"Don’t move. I won’t check your pulse, okay?"

Cui Xisheng was struggling so fiercely that his wrist was nearly twisted 360 degrees.

Afraid of hurting him, Meng Jiangtian quickly let go.

"Jiangtian-gege, what are you guys doing?"

The night was too dark, and Liu Anna had been unaware of their little movements. But now that they were making a fuss, she sat up from her mat and clung to Meng Jiangtian’s arm, trying to show her intimacy while also casting a wary glance at Cui Xisheng.

"Nothing. Go to sleep."

Meng Jiangtian pulled his arm free and firmly pressed Liu Anna back down.

"I’m not sleepy! I don’t want to sleep—" Liu Anna struggled to sit up.

"Stop messing around."

Meng Jiangtian growled, tightening his grip on her, pressing her down.

Feeling the pain in her arm and sensing his displeasure, Liu Anna obediently lay back down—but she didn’t feel sleepy at all.

With her vision obscured by darkness, her hearing became sharper. Liu Anna strained her ears, carefully listening for any movement between the two.

Meanwhile, Cui Xisheng finally broke free from Meng Jiangtian’s grasp and rolled away in an attempt to put some distance between them.

But in the darkness, Meng Jiangtian accurately grabbed hold of his waistband.

A sharp pain shot through Cui Xisheng’s stomach as he was suddenly yanked back, his heart nearly leaping into his throat.

Panicked, he immediately moved back on his own—too hastily, causing him to crash directly into Meng Jiangtian’s embrace.

For the moment, he didn’t care where he had ended up. He hurriedly cradled his stomach, focusing on whether there was any pain. Slowly, the discomfort faded—it seemed like everything was fine. He let out a long sigh of relief.

"Did that hurt?"

Seeing him clutching his stomach, Meng Jiangtian reached out, intending to rub it for him.

There was no way Cui Xisheng would let that happen. The man was strong—his touch might do more harm than good. He quickly pushed Meng Jiangtian’s hand away and muttered warily, "It doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m tired. I’m going to sleep."

Cui Xisheng didn’t dare make another move. He turned his back to Meng Jiangtian, pulled his hands out of his sleeves, and tucked them inside his clothes, pressing them firmly down. Then, he closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.

With Meng Jiangtian lying right behind him, there was no way he could actually fall asleep. If Meng Jiangtian tried to check his pulse while he was unconscious, he would be exposed.

He had no idea if ability users could see in the dark, but Meng Jiangtian seemed to notice every little thing he did.

That man had clearly seen him hiding his hands so carefully—something was definitely suspicious.

And just like Cui Xisheng feared, Meng Jiangtian was indeed planning to wait until he fell asleep before secretly checking his pulse.
