Cui Xisheng turned around to see Zhao Jiake placing a box beside him. It was already open, filled with snacks and drinks.

"Do you want something to eat?" Zhao Jiake pulled out a red date bread and handed it to Cui Xisheng.

Cui Xisheng shook his head. He was feeling too nauseous to have any appetite.

"Then at least have something to drink." Zhao Jiake took out a carton of red date milk.

Cui Xisheng glanced into the box—it was packed with red date-flavored snacks and drinks, along with two bags of dried red dates.

Red dates were known to replenish blood.

Had this entire box been set aside just for him?

"Where did you get so many red date-flavored things?"

"Where else? Meng Jiangtian gave them to me," Zhao Jiake replied casually. "When I squeezed into the crowd, he handed them over directly and told me to bring them to you.

"I don’t even like red dates. This is mine." Zhao Jiake pulled out a bag of chicken burgers and a bottle of mineral water from the box.

"All of this is for me?" Cui Xisheng picked up the red date milk, recalling what Zhao Jiake had said.

Did Meng Jiangtian really care about him that much?

"Of course! He said it himself. Stop doubting it."

"Why would he ask you to bring it to me? Did you tell him about the bodyguard thing?"

"Nope. He asked me first. I guess when he came back, he saw me staying by your side instead of fighting for food.

"So, he just straight-up asked me what my relationship with you was.

"I told him I wanted to follow him and that I was acting as your bodyguard. He didn’t say whether he agreed or not, but he gave me a burger and some water—and told me to bring you this box.

"You see? It’s obvious this was specifically set aside for you! I told you, Meng Jiangtian really cares about you. And from now on, I’m sticking with you."

Cui Xisheng smiled but didn’t argue. Meng Jiangtian’s actions left him feeling conflicted.

His constant vomiting was making him dehydrated, and his mouth tasted awful. He opened the red date milk, swished it around in his mouth, then gulped down the rest.

The taste was actually okay—non-greasy, and it didn’t make him nauseous.

He wasn’t hungry, but he knew he needed to eat something to replenish his energy.

He hesitated for a moment before grabbing a red date cake, unwrapping it, and taking a bite.

It was overly sweet, greasy, and cloying.

After chewing a few times, nausea surged through him like a wave.

His stomach lurched, and he barely managed to spit the cake out before he started dry heaving.

"Xisheng, what is wrong with you?" Zhao Jiake patted his back, half-joking, "Anemia isn’t this bad. You’ve been throwing up non-stop. If you weren’t a guy, I’d think you were pregnant."

Cui Xisheng froze.

His stomach clenched—and he threw up again.

Even the red date milk he’d just swallowed came back up.

Tears streamed down his face from the force of the vomiting.

When was this ever going to end?

This time, the four espers had brought back an unusually large amount of food.

Even after distributing it among the hundred or so people, there were still leftovers.

The student council president had the earth esper build a mound of dirt over the remaining food to keep it from being stolen.

Meng Jiangtian approached Cui Xisheng and Zhao Jiake, exhaustion evident on his face.

Liu Anna, meanwhile, had been happily trailing behind Meng Jiangtian with a bag of cream bread and three cans of Eight-Treasure Porridge.

But the moment she saw the entire box of food beside Cui Xisheng, her cheerful expression vanished.

Her gaze turned icy, sending dagger-like glares at Cui Xisheng.

She had been watching him for a while—and noticed he never joined the scramble for food.
