Meng Jiangtian returned before Wang Kun. He hovered in mid-air, looking at the people on the rooftop, each holding a variety of snacks and eating.

Five ability users, all wearing the same military uniform as Wang Kun, were distributing the food. The student council president was following one of them, talking excitedly while trying to appear calm.

As soon as they noticed Meng Jiangtian, the people eating froze in fear.

However, no one stopped chewing. Instead, they stuffed more food into their mouths in large bites, afraid Meng Jiangtian would take it back.

Meng Jiangtian's face darkened as he stared at the crowd. His food had been taken and distributed without his consent—this made him furious.

But the thought of going home made him suppress his anger.

Once the food entered the safe zone, it probably didn’t belong to him anymore. Sooner or later, it would be distributed to these people anyway, and stopping them now wouldn’t make a difference.

The five military-clad ability users tensed up when they saw Meng Jiangtian floating in the air. Meanwhile, Wang Kun used his earth ability to create protruding stone steps along the smooth building wall, climbing up step by step.

Seeing Wang Kun, the five immediately moved toward him.

Wang Kun explained something to them, and after a while, they finally relaxed.

He waved at Meng Jiangtian, but Meng Jiangtian, not seeing Cui Xisheng in the crowd, ignored him and flew downstairs instead.

Cui Xisheng was by the window, eavesdropping on the rooftop commotion. He moved aside to make space for Meng Jiangtian and asked, “What’s going on up there? Why is it so loud?”

“Someone came to rescue us. The student council president wasn’t lying—there really is a safe zone. There are six ability users up there.”

“Six ability users?!” Cui Xisheng’s eyes widened in shock. He had thought ability users were rare, but suddenly, six had appeared.

His round, wide eyes made Meng Jiangtian’s heart skip a beat. Seizing the moment, he leaned in and planted a quick kiss on Cui Xisheng’s forehead.

Before Cui Xisheng could explode in anger, Meng Jiangtian stepped back and said, “Let’s check out the safe zone. It should be safer than here.”

Cui Xisheng wiped his forehead aggressively, glaring at Meng Jiangtian. But he didn’t object—given his situation, he had no choice but to follow him.

Meng Jiangtian went to Liu Anna’s room and called her out. When she heard there were six ability users on the rooftop, she immediately perked up.

If she could find someone stronger than Meng Jiangtian, she wouldn’t have to rely on him anymore.

The six ability users generously handed out all the food on the rooftop to the 108 survivors.

After nearly three days of hunger, everyone was starving. The food Meng Jiangtian had brought back was devoured completely.

The moment Liu Anna saw six tall, commanding ability users in military uniforms, she ignored Meng Jiangtian and rushed forward.

Weaving through the group, she smiled sweetly and chatted them up.

But the six men responded perfunctorily, barely looking at her, their gazes constantly shifting toward something else.

Following their line of sight, Liu Anna spotted Meng Jiangtian and Cui Xisheng standing together.

She wasn’t sure whether they were looking at Meng Jiangtian or Cui Xisheng.

Even though they brushed her off, Liu Anna, fueled by sheer persistence (or shamelessness), continued lingering among them.

Meanwhile, Wang Kun listened to the student council president rambling on about their hardships over the past few days. Another ability user, behaving like a sycophantic sidekick, echoed his praises.

As a fellow earth ability user, Wang Kun found Zhao Huanrui’s bootlicking attitude distasteful.

His attention was fixated on someone else—just one glance when Meng Jiangtian had arrived, and he couldn’t look away.

In the apocalypse, everyone was covered in filth, yet that boy looked as clean and delicate as a porcelain doll.

He hid slightly behind Meng Jiangtian, his expression tinged with nervousness, as fragile as a little white rabbit. Wang Kun couldn’t help but want to hold him and protect him.

That little white rabbit was too captivating. Wang Kun found himself constantly sneaking glances at him.

The student council president and Zhao Huanrui droned on in his ears, making Wang Kun increasingly impatient—it was interfering with his view of the little white rabbit.

“We wouldn’t have made it without the president. If not for him, we wouldn’t have lasted until you came to rescue us,” Zhao Huanrui repeated for what felt like the hundredth time.

Suddenly, Cui Xisheng seemed startled by something and took a step back, hiding fully behind Meng Jiangtian.

Now blocked from view, Wang Kun instinctively stepped sideways to get another look—but he accidentally bumped into Zhao Huanrui, who was still fawning over the student council president.

Wang Kun frowned. His patience with these two had reached its limit. Coldly, he said, “Both of you, I’ll report your contributions accurately. We won’t take credit for anything that isn’t ours, so don’t worry.

"If you still have energy to spare, go help verify everyone’s identities on the rooftop. We’ve already reported to the safe zone—someone will come to take you back soon.

"We still need to continue searching for survivors. We’re not in charge of recording your achievements, so telling me all this is pointless. That’s not my job.”

“That’s not what we meant, you misunderstood…” Zhao Huanrui forced a smile, looking awkward.

The student council president, who had been maintaining an air of superiority, also looked displeased.

“You two should go help,” Wang Kun said flatly. “Stop following me.”

He brushed past Zhao Huanrui and walked toward Meng Jiangtian.

The student council president followed his gaze, spotted Meng Jiangtian standing there, and his already dark expression turned even darker.

“Meng Jiangtian, have you made your decision? Will you join the safe zone?” Wang Kun asked, stopping beside him.

He forced himself to focus on Meng Jiangtian and not look at the boy hiding behind him.

“I was planning to,” Meng Jiangtian said, his tone laced with irritation. “But now I’m having second thoughts.”

Having his food forcibly taken and distributed—he wasn’t ready to let that slide just yet. He intended to have a word with Wang Kun about it.

“Why?” Wang Kun blinked in surprise.

“I’m afraid if I go, I’ll starve to death.”

“Huh? Why would you think that? In the safe zone, ordinary people might get a little less food due to shortages.

But I can guarantee that ability users will never go hungry. You can rest assured about that.”

“Maybe the safe zone will give me food every day, but the question is whether I can keep it.” Meng Jiangtian sighed meaningfully.

“You’re afraid of being robbed? Don’t worry, your level is so high—regular ability users are no match for you.” Wang Kun thought for a moment and then laughed.

Indeed, there had been incidents of ability users robbing each other for food in the safe zone, but the ones getting robbed were always the low-level ability users.

At Meng Jiangtian’s level, except for a few level-three ability users, the rest would be the ones getting robbed by him.

“What if it’s not just regular ability users trying to take my food? What if it’s someone like you? Or a group of them coming after me? I can’t fight them all alone.” Meng Jiangtian hinted even more obviously.

“Ability users at our level never lack food in the apocalypse, and no one would dare to rob you.”

Wang Kun looked at Meng Jiangtian in confusion. This guy had such a high level—why was he so timid?

Three large black lines metaphorically hung on Meng Jiangtian’s forehead. Was this guy truly clueless or just playing dumb? He was hinting so obviously, yet Wang Kun just couldn’t get it.

“Pfft.” Cui Xisheng couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.

His eyes curved into crescent moons, playful and adorable. His rosy lips curled slightly, looking soft and bouncy.

Now that they were closer, Cui Xisheng’s face appeared even fairer and more delicate. If someone were to pinch his cheek, it would surely feel soft and smooth.

Wang Kun gradually became entranced, his gaze turning increasingly blatant.

Cui Xisheng noticed the lustful look in Wang Kun’s eyes once again, feeling both disgusted and a little scared. He instinctively moved closer to Meng Jiangtian, pressing against his back and grabbing his arm.

Meng Jiangtian also saw the growing desire in Wang Kun’s eyes, and his expression instantly turned icy.

As he felt the warmth of the body pressed against him, Meng Jiangtian slightly moved his arms back, loosely embracing Cui Xisheng. He shifted his position to the side, blocking Wang Kun’s view.

Suddenly faced with Meng Jiangtian’s murderous glare, Wang Kun snapped out of his trance.

Realizing his momentary loss of control, Wang Kun quickly took several steps back. Facing Meng Jiangtian’s intimidating stare, he scratched his head awkwardly and said, “Sorry, I lost myself for a moment. Um, I’ll go get busy. We can talk later.”

Afraid of being drawn to that delicate-looking boy again, Wang Kun fled in embarrassment.

Meng Jiangtian frowned, sensing that something was off.

Turning back to look at Cui Xisheng, he saw the boy’s fair face, rosy lips, and, most notably, his moist, shimmering eyes—eyes that made one want to hold him protectively in their arms.

Meng Jiangtian finally realized that this kid was getting more and more attractive.

No, not just attractive—he was practically a reincarnated temptress. Just looking at his face made Meng Jiangtian feel an uncontrollable urge…

“Why are you staring at me like that?”

Meng Jiangtian’s gaze felt like it was stripping him bare, consuming him. It was the same possessive look others had given him before.

But maybe because they had been together for three years, Cui Xisheng had grown used to it. Unlike with others, he didn’t find Meng Jiangtian’s gaze repulsive—he just kept cursing in his heart: Pervert. Old lecher. Bastard.

“Have you stared enough?” Meng Jiangtian’s persistent gaze made Cui Xisheng feel uneasy all over.

“Have you noticed? You’ve been looking prettier lately.” Meng Jiangtian rubbed his chin and, unable to resist, reached out to pinch Cui Xisheng’s puffed-up, soft cheek.

“When was I ever ugly?” Cui Xisheng assumed Meng Jiangtian was teasing him and slapped his hand away.

“Well, that’s true. If you were ugly, I wouldn’t even be interested.”

“…”

It seemed that Cui Xisheng hadn’t yet realized the changes in himself, and Meng Jiangtian didn’t point it out. Living carefree like this wasn’t so bad.

The six ability users had already contacted the safe zone, and soon, ability users from the safe zone arrived to pick them up. However, all the food upstairs had already been eaten clean.

Wang Kun was talking to the student council president and Zhao Huanrui, along with an older ability user in a military uniform. The ability user was quickly jotting things down in a small notebook.
