Qi Tianshan moved to the door, and before it could close, he suddenly heard Cui Xisheng’s voice. His soft and sweet tone made Qi Tianshan’s body tense, stopping him immediately.
Why hadn’t he noticed before that Cui Xisheng’s voice was so enticing?
The door was slightly ajar, and through the gap, Qi Tianshan saw Cui Xisheng walking into the living room, picking out clothes.
His lips had already stopped swelling, though they still looked moist. Due to his anemia, Cui Xisheng’s lips weren’t particularly vibrant, yet they made Qi Tianshan’s heart itch. He wanted to bite those pink lips until they were red and swollen again.
Qi Tianshan became absorbed in watching Cui Xisheng, his breath growing heavier.
Meng Jiangtian followed Cui Xisheng into the bathroom but was ruthlessly pushed out by Cui Xisheng, who locked the door behind him.
Meng Jiangtian nearly got hit in the nose, rubbing it as he glared at the door. Qi Tianshan’s presence lingered by the door, his energy clearly emanating.
Suddenly, Qi Tianshan’s eyes met Meng Jiangtian’s, causing him to jump in shock. He quickly shut the door, leaning against the wall as he hurriedly walked away.
Meng Jiangtian looked at the door, squinting his eyes. He didn’t chase after him. Cui Xisheng was taking a bath, so he decided to stay and guard the door for now.
“Do you have shampoo? Soap will work too.” Cui Xisheng suddenly asked, opening the door. After seven days of sweating and oil buildup, washing with just water wasn’t enough to get clean.
Meng Jiangtian looked at Cui Xisheng’s wet hair. His shoulder, visible through the door gap, was bare—if he was taking a bath, he must have stripped off all his clothes.
The thought of Cui Xisheng naked made Meng Jiangtian’s temperature rise uncontrollably, his body becoming heated.
He had seen Cui Xisheng without clothes for three years, and even now, two months without seeing him had made him lose control.
"Pervert," Cui Xisheng muttered, his voice angry as he quickly shut the bathroom door and locked it again. He had even thrown his underwear into the trash.
The door slammed shut, cutting off Meng Jiangtian’s view. Instead of getting angry at being cursed, Meng Jiangtian smirked, laughing lewdly. “Wait a minute, I’ll go find it for you.”
Excited, Meng Jiangtian left and entered a random supermarket. He cleared out the store, dealing with the zombies inside and collecting two wood-type crystal nuclei.
He also grabbed toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower gel, soap, and shampoo, cleaning them with water before bringing them back.
He packed a bag with small items like toothpaste and toothbrushes—enough to last a long time.
Returning with a bundle of items, Meng Jiangtian stood in front of the bathroom door, still a bit nervous.
“Cui Xisheng, I found some shampoo and shower gel. Open the door, I’ll hand them to you.”
He pressed his ear to the door, listening to the sound of water running and the faint footsteps of Cui Xisheng approaching the door.
The door lock clicked open, and Meng Jiangtian quickly stepped back, waiting with a serious expression.
The door opened just a crack, with only one of Cui Xisheng’s eyes peeking out.
Meng Jiangtian shook the bottles of shampoo and shower gel in his hand.
Cui Xisheng pulled the door open a little wider, just enough to stick out one arm: “Give them to me.”
Meng Jiangtian stared at Cui Xisheng’s pale, smooth arm, his eyes practically glued to it.
Over the past few days, Cui Xisheng had been wearing short sleeves, with his arm exposed, but Meng Jiangtian had never really noticed it.
Now, however, he thought that arm was glowing white, so soft and smooth that it made him itch all over.
He handed the shampoo to Cui Xisheng and, seemingly by accident, brushed his hand.
Sure enough, it was smooth, and the touch felt incredible.
The bottle was a bit large, and as Cui Xisheng took it, he shot Meng Jiangtian a glare and quickly withdrew his hand.
“Pervert!”
The door slammed shut as Cui Xisheng placed the shampoo on the ground. He opened the door again, sticking out his arm to grab the shower gel.
Meng Jiangtian handed the shower gel to Cui Xisheng and, just as Cui Xisheng was about to withdraw his arm, quickly brushed his little arm.
He grabbed it firmly and even squeezed the soft flesh on Cui Xisheng’s arm.
Cui Xisheng jumped in surprise, pulling his arm back and slamming the door shut, locking it again.
Outside, Meng Jiangtian rubbed his fingers, still feeling the smoothness of Cui Xisheng’s arm. His laughter grew even more like that of a pervert.
The sound of water running again came from the bathroom, and Meng Jiangtian, unable to resist, felt an urge to go in.
Fearing he couldn’t control himself, Meng Jiangtian decided to go out and cool off. He picked up a few skirts from the couch and walked out.
The upstairs was too hot, so Liu Anna was staying in a room downstairs. He could feel her presence there.
Meng Jiangtian found Liu Anna’s room and knocked on the door.
“Who’s there?” Liu Anna’s cautious voice came from inside.
The room had a damaged door, which perfectly blocked the peephole, making it impossible to see outside. The door lock had been broken and couldn’t be secured.
But the room was clean, and Cui Xisheng had initially liked this room. He had only given it up because the door wasn’t secure.
Meng Jiangtian pushed on the door but couldn’t open it, as something was blocking it inside.
“It’s me, Meng Jiangtian.” He called out.
Inside, the sound of furniture being dragged could be heard, so Liu Anna had been using the furniture to block the door.
When the door opened, Liu Anna, panting heavily, smiled brightly when she saw Meng Jiangtian: “Jiangtian gege.”
Seeing the skirts in Meng Jiangtian’s hands, Liu Anna smiled even more brightly: “Is this for me?”
“Yes,” Meng Jiangtian replied, handing her the clothes. After seven days without a change, Liu Anna’s clothes had become filthy.
Liu Anna took the clothes and noticed there were also underwear and bras, her small face blushing, but her smile grew even sweeter.
She raised her head and sweetly said, “Thank you, Jiangtian gege. Why don’t you come inside and sit for a while? The room is very clean.”
“No need,” Meng Jiangtian refused, not wanting to let Liu Anna misunderstand. He firmly refused to go in.
He was about to leave but paused, turning back to ask, “Have you eaten yet tonight?”
Liu Anna’s eyes lit up at Meng Jiangtian’s sudden concern, and she immediately looked pitiful: “I ate, but I threw it up. I think I’m suffering from heatstroke.”
“Drink more water if you’re suffering from heatstroke,” Meng Jiangtian said, looking at Liu Anna for a moment before leaving.
He thought to himself, her life force seemed perfectly fine—there was no sign of heatstroke.
Wood-type and healing abilities were somewhat similar in that they could sense a living being's vitality, but their functions differed. While healing could restore health and save lives, wood-type abilities only transferred vitality, keeping a being alive without actually healing them.
Liu Anna wasn’t the cute and kind girl he remembered from high school. She had learned to lie without batting an eye.
“Jiangtian gege, where are you going?” Liu Anna quickly called out as Meng Jiangtian turned to leave.
She was suffering from heatstroke—why couldn’t he show her some sympathy? Had their relationship really become this cold?
Meng Jiangtian didn’t want to get caught up with Liu Anna. He didn’t look back and didn’t respond.
Liu Anna watched him go up to the rooftop, her face flushed with anger, as if she truly had heatstroke.
Once on the rooftop, Meng Jiangtian immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
Zhao Huanrui, carrying a bottle of mineral water, froze in fear when he saw Meng Jiangtian. He dropped the bottle, which clattered to the ground.
“Meng Jiangtian, I… I… this water…” Zhao Huanrui tried to explain, but his words got stuck in his throat, unable to come out.
“It was me who asked him to deliver it,” came the weak voice of the student council president from behind a one-meter-high earthen wall.
Meng Jiangtian had taken an umbrella that had been used to shield food and tossed it into the crowd.
The weight of the umbrella wasn’t light, and it caused several people to scream as it landed.
“The other two umbrellas are for these food supplies. You don’t need to use them anymore. You can give them water to drink, but when it’s gone, you’ll be relying on the president. Don’t even think about touching these food supplies, or I’ll throw you to the zombies.”
Meng Jiangtian used wind to drag two boxes of food and a bottle of mineral water, dropped them, and made a harsh remark before walking away.
The student council president’s face was still dark with anger. Fortunately, the earthen wall blocked the view of the crowd, sparing him from further humiliation.
He’d been treated like a dog by Meng Jiangtian today, and this group of freeloaders had laughed at him.
He’d remember their names and pay them back once he joined the army. As for Meng Jiangtian, the humiliation he received today would be repaid in full.
The sun was setting, and without the umbrellas, it wasn’t as hot, though tomorrow would be another challenge.
The student council president couldn’t understand why the army hadn’t arrived yet. He didn’t want to continue being ordered around by Meng Jiangtian.
He hoped to find his older brother, who was an ability user, and exchange their positions once they got to the army.
Meng Jiangtian didn’t know what the student council president was thinking. He carried the food and water back downstairs and found Liu Anna back in her room, blocking the door with more furniture.
He knocked on the door again.
“Who is it?” Liu Anna asked through the crack.
“It’s me, Meng Jiangtian. I brought food and water.”
Liu Anna smiled faintly, even through the crack in the door, showing a little relief at the sight of the food.
Her smile made Meng Jiangtian feel like this whole situation was a joke, yet he knew the value of these items.
“Where is it?” Liu Anna asked, quickly opening the door.
He handed her the items and turned to leave, leaving her without even a word. She needed food and water, but he couldn’t waste too much time with her.
He needed to keep focusing on Cui Xisheng.
