"I'll think about it," Cui Xisheng said, his mind in turmoil.
For a brief moment, he considered getting rid of the child.
He was a man—how could he possibly be pregnant? Just imagining himself walking around with a swollen belly, being gawked at like some kind of spectacle, sent shivers down his spine.
But then he thought of Meng Jiangtian, and he hesitated.
He hated Meng Jiangtian. Hated that he only saw him as a casual fling. Hated that he had played him.
But no matter how much he tried to deny it, deep down, he still loved him.
This was Meng Jiangtian’s child. Their child. Cui Xisheng placed a hand on his lower abdomen, and despite himself, he wavered again.
"It's okay. Pregnancy lasts ten months—you have time to think about it," Hao Ren reassured him.
"Go back and rest. Avoid overeating. Your abdominal space is already smaller than a woman's, so pregnancy will be tougher for you. The morning sickness might be worse.
Eat smaller, more frequent meals with light flavors. If you feel nauseous in the morning, have something mild like crackers or porridge before getting out of bed.
Avoid fried, spicy, or strong-smelling foods, and stay away from anything raw or cold—they'll irritate your stomach and trigger vomiting.
Give me your phone number. Let's exchange contacts. Call me if you need anything," Hao Ren said, pulling out his phone.
Cui Xisheng exchanged numbers with Hao Ren. He stayed in the hospital for another two days, receiving IV drips and taking home a bag full of prescribed medicine before leaving in a daze.
Thankfully, Hao Ren covered all his medical expenses. Otherwise, his meager living allowance wouldn't have been enough to pay for his hospital stay.
He had taken a taxi to the hospital, but on the way back, he chose to walk, his mind filled with chaotic thoughts.
Standing at the school gate, Cui Xisheng touched his stomach, torn over whether to keep the child.
He had only one year left before graduation. If he decided to have this baby, his studies would definitely be affected.
Maybe he could ask Hao Ren if he could take a year off and return to repeat the year after giving birth.
Hao Ren was so fascinated by his pregnancy—he’d probably be willing to help with something like that, right?
"Jiangtian-ge, why did you stop?"
A sweet voice called from behind, making Cui Xisheng freeze in place.
The name "Jiangtian-ge" sent a chill down his spine.
He didn’t have the courage to turn around and confirm whether this "Jiangtian" was Meng Jiangtian.
Forcing himself to appear indifferent, Cui Xisheng lifted his foot and briskly walked into the school without looking back.
At the gate, Meng Jiangtian watched that familiar figure flee in a panic.
His sharp eyes caught the pharmacy bag in Cui Xisheng’s hand, and his brows furrowed slightly.
"What's wrong? Do you know that guy?" Liu Anna followed his gaze and saw Cui Xisheng walking away quickly, curiosity flashing across her face.
She had just returned from abroad and wasn't familiar with Meng Jiangtian's social circle over the past three years.
This was her first time visiting his university, and she was supposed to meet his friends today—as his girlfriend.
"No. Just thought of something I need to do today. I'll introduce you to them another time. Let me take you home first," Meng Jiangtian said, shaking his head.
He had just gotten out of the taxi, but now he grabbed Liu Anna’s hand and led her back into it.
"Hey! What’s so urgent? We already made plans!" Liu Anna protested, but she was already being ushered into the taxi, with no room to argue.
Meanwhile, Cui Xisheng rushed back to his dormitory as fast as he could, practically speed-walking.
The dorm was empty.
It was Sunday, and his three roommates—each of whom had a girlfriend—were probably out on dates.
