TPL Chapter 6 ☆ Extra: The Emperor
| Previous | Table of Contents | ----->
The Emperor had always felt resentful. He was clearly wise, mighty, handsome, charming, talented, and possessed an extraordinary aura—yet for some reason, his father just favored that troublemaking, useless younger brother of his!
What was that nonsense about “since you’re so capable and your brother is good for nothing, you should let him have his way”? Ha!
If his brother had been punished as severely as he was whenever he caused trouble, he refused to believe that brat would have remained so useless!
And fine, even if his brother amounted to nothing, he could tolerate supporting such a waste. But the problem was, his brother wasn’t content with being a waste!
He had ruined the Emperor’s plan to control the martial world, destroyed his grand scheme to eliminate corrupt officials in one fell swoop, and even helped his chosen empress escape their arranged marriage… How could the Emperor possibly believe that his brother wasn’t coveting his throne?
But the most outrageous thing was that, before his father passed away, he had entrusted the shadow guards—not the Emperor, but his younger brother—with their command!
The shadow guards! Those legendary warriors who were said to be almost omnipotent, unparalleled in the world, capable of infiltrating the imperial palace without a trace! Even before the Emperor ascended the throne, they had already familiarized themselves with the palace’s layout under their father’s orders…
How was he supposed to feel safe?
He had been working tirelessly to win these shadow guards over, but to his frustration, their leader—a man he had met once, called Xiao Er—was absurdly loyal to his brother. And because of that, his entire force of secret guards remained devoted to his brother as well!
His brother wasn’t as handsome as him, didn’t know as much as him, and had a nasty, violent temper. Were those secret guards blind? Why on earth would they swear allegiance to someone like that?
But then again… the more he thought about their unwavering loyalty, the more he felt a strange sense of admiration…
They were so loyal—so unfaltering in their devotion! If they could be that devoted to his useless brother, they must be truly remarkable!
Determined, the Emperor continued his efforts to drive a wedge between his brother and the secret guards. He had thought he was close to succeeding… but to his shock, his brother suddenly became unusually well-behaved.
Suspiciously well-behaved.
Could it be that his brother was scheming some earth-shattering conspiracy?
The Emperor decided to investigate.
Bringing a considerable number of guards, and even preparing military forces, he finally mustered the courage to step into his brother’s estate.
Since he was the Emperor and their relationship had not yet completely fallen apart, he maintained the facade of an elder brother upon entering. He ordered both his own men and the household staff to remain silent before sneaking toward his brother’s quarters…
"Xiao Er, if I don’t torment you to death today, I’m not your master!"
"Xiao Er, how’s that? I’m amazing, aren’t I? I’ll crush you, crush you, crush you!"
"Xiao Er, scream all you want! Even if you shout your lungs out, no one will come to save you! Gahaha!"
…
The Emperor’s eyes gleamed.
He knew his younger brother had always been resentful about having someone tailing him at all times, so he treated Xiao Er quite poorly. It was precisely because of this that the Emperor had attempted to sow discord between them.
But from the sound of things…
Had their relationship already fallen apart without any interference from him?
Hahaha! The Emperor stifled a triumphant laugh. This was his chance! He would burst in heroically and rescue the shadow guard from his wretched master!
And so, he did just that—pushing the door open with great force.
Then, he immediately regretted it.
He must have gone blind.
Because there, in full view, his little tyrant of a brother was seated atop the shadow guard, his body covered in red marks, his face flushed with pleasure. He was straddling Xiao Er in a very compromising position—one that left absolutely no room for misinterpretation.
And as if the sight itself wasn’t shocking enough, his once-arrogant brother was now moaning.
"Xiao Er, slow down… I can’t… My legs are weak…"
…
The Emperor suddenly realized that there was indeed something his brother excelled at—being more seductive and alluring than him.
So this was why the secret guards were so unfailingly loyal? Because they had been eating their master? If that was the case, then the Emperor would rather have disloyal shadow guards, thank you very much!
Quietly, the Emperor backed out of the room, feeling utterly foolish.
He had been so, so stupid.
He had gathered so many men, even mobilized the army, preparing for some kind of grand confrontation—only to end up watching a live erotic performance.
The Emperor’s mood was terrible.
But after some time, his mood unexpectedly improved.
No wonder his brother didn’t want a wife—because he was too busy being ravished by the shadow guard!
His brother was utterly preoccupied with that, which meant he wouldn’t be able to marry, wouldn’t have children, and seemed to be practically imprisoned in his own estate by the secret guard. What was there to worry about?
Feeling greatly relieved, the Emperor happily returned to the palace.
He even sent his brother some top-quality medicine for wounds, along with supplements for kidney health—though, of course, he secretly hoped Xiao Er would be the one to take them instead.
Hahahahaha!
