Yun Mozhi had been busy observing Bai Yi's progress, but suddenly he shouted, "Xiao Bai!"

The bed sheet beneath Bai Yi turned red with fresh blood, and his stomach seemed to drop even lower. The overwhelming smell of blood filled the room, causing Xiao Yiran, a battle-hardened general, to tremble with fear.

Yun Mozhi was sweating profusely with urgency. Bai Yi’s birth canal had opened to seven fingers, enough to allow the baby to pass, but the baby seemed impatient and had descended quickly, getting stuck in the birth canal. This, in turn, caused a large amount of blood to flow from Bai Yi. Now, Bai Yi had lost so much blood that he no longer had the strength to deliver the baby. However, if Yun Mozhi pushed his abdomen to help the baby come out, there was a risk of severe hemorrhaging. Yun Mozhi could not think of a better solution, and could only shout at Bai Yi, "Xiao Bai, the baby is almost out. Don't give up! Follow my rhythm—when I tell you to push, you must cooperate!"

Bai Yi, being a doctor himself, could tell from Yun Mozhi’s serious expression what was happening. He realized that despite his desire to push, his body had no strength left. He was already on the verge of fainting from exhaustion. He felt completely drained, but he couldn’t give up. He still had a long journey ahead—he wanted to return to Huaiding with Xiao Yiran, watch their child grow up, and do so many things together with the man before him...

Bai Yi weakly squeezed Xiao Yiran's hand, and then pointed to a spot in the room with his finger. After these movements, he was completely drained of energy and could no longer even lift his hand.

Luckily, Xiao Yiran immediately understood where Bai Yi was pointing. He rushed over to the indicated spot, rummaged through a cabinet, and brought back a small box. He poured out several medicine bottles in front of Yun Mozhi. "This is Ah Yi’s medicine chest. The medicine that saved me last time is in here. See if any of it can help!"

"Xing Han Dan?" Yun Mozhi quickly opened the bottles, searching through them. He found the pill that had once saved Xiao Yiran’s life. "Xing Han Dan can detoxify, but it’s very potent. If taken in large quantities, it can cause madness. Xiao Bai might regain some strength, but it’s extremely harmful... also..." Xing Han Dan detoxifies and activates blood circulation, but it’s not recommended for pregnant women. Yun Mozhi hesitated before administering the pill. If it were a normal recovery medicine, he would have used it, but Bai Yi’s condition was unique. He had been poisoned earlier, and the antidote he had used had countered the poison by balancing the toxins in his body. Adding another medicine with a contrasting effect could disrupt the balance and cause chaos. Therefore, Yun Mozhi had refrained from using it, but Xing Han Dan could detoxify... if there were no other concerns. The aftereffects, however, were unpredictable...

Xiao Yiran returned to Bai Yi's side and held his slightly cold hand. Bai Yi was now in a semi-conscious state. Xiao Yiran kissed his hand and, with pain in his voice, asked Yun Mozhi softly, "You can save him, right?"

Yun Mozhi clenched his teeth and slapped his head. "I’ll give it my all! As long as this divine doctor is here, even the King of Hell can't take him!" After saying this, he fed Bai Yi the medicine, then instructed Xiao Yiran, "You need to channel some true qi to help speed up the medicine’s effects."

Xiao Yiran nodded and cautiously channeled some true qi into Bai Yi’s body. Soon, Bai Yi regained some of his strength and energy. Yun Mozhi then spread Bai Yi’s legs and exposed his abdomen. Kneeling at his feet, Yun Mozhi gently pressed down in a specific direction on Bai Yi’s belly. "Xiao Bai, listen to me. When I tell you to push, you must do so, understand?"

Bai Yi weakly responded with an "Mhm." Yun Mozhi pressed down several times on Bai Yi’s abdomen and then applied more force to a specific area. He shouted, "Push!" Bai Yi, following Yun Mozhi’s instruction, let out a loud cry as his body arched up and then fell back down. His previously pale face turned red with the effort.

"Ahhhhhhhh!..."

"Good! I can see the baby's head, Xiao Bai, hold on, and give it one more push," Yun Mozhi continued pressing on Bai Yi's abdomen with one hand while his other hand moved down to gently adjust the baby’s head inside the birth canal, correcting its position.

"Ah! Mmm... Hahaha... Haahhhhhh..." Bai Yi once again lost his breathing rhythm. Despite hearing Yun Mozhi's voice, he couldn’t control his pace. His entire body felt like it was being trampled by a herd of horses, as if it were about to fall apart. Every organ inside him seemed to be pierced by sharp blades, and the pulling sensation from the baby descending made him feel like his insides were being emptied out. He even experienced an odd sense of loss that suddenly made him feel afraid.

"Xiao Bai, push!! The baby is almost out!"

Yun Mozhi’s voice seemed to come from far away. Bai Yi felt a bit dizzy and his hearing was blurred, but the tearing pain in his lower body was a clear signal that the baby was about to be born. He took a deep breath and, gathering all his strength, he pushed to bring the baby out. His hand tightened around Xiao Yiran's, turning his fingers pale. His body involuntarily arched up, and after a loud scream, it fell heavily back down. "Mmm, ahhh... Ahhh... Ahhhhhh!"

As Bai Yi's body collapsed, Yun Mozhi stood up, holding the baby. He gave the child a few gentle slaps, but the baby didn’t make a sound. The small form, with a slightly purplish face, shocked Yun Mozhi. He quickly pinched the baby's philtrum, and the baby coughed up some filth before opening its eyes and crying, but there was still no sound. Yun Mozhi’s heart sank.

"Mo Zhi!"

Xiao Yiran’s panicked cry startled Yun Mozhi. He no longer had time to worry about why the baby was silent. Wrapping the child in a blanket, he handed it to Yuan’er and rushed back to Bai Yi’s side. Bai Yi's complexion had already turned pale, and the bed was soaked in blood. With the birth of the baby, it seemed like the blood inside Bai Yi's body had broken free and was gushing out uncontrollably.

Yun Mozhi immediately pressed on Bai Yi's abdomen and helped expel the afterbirth, then administered acupuncture and medicine to stop the bleeding.

Throughout the whole process, Xiao Yiran stayed by Bai Yi’s side, never leaving. He didn’t even look at the newly born child, while Yuan’er, with red eyes, cleaned the baby. Just as Yun Mozhi stopped Bai Yi’s bleeding, Bai Yi suddenly stopped breathing, causing both Xiao Yiran and Yun Mozhi to jump in shock.

"A Yi, wake up! Please, don’t scare me!" Xiao Yiran said, his voice full of anguish. In just a few short hours, he had been through so much. He feared that Bai Yi would never wake up again. If that happened, he didn’t know how he could face himself or their child. He even started regretting asking Bai Yi to marry him.

"If I had let Bai Yi get rid of the child and return to Huaiding, would this have happened?"

"Xiao Bai, don’t ruin my reputation!" Yun Mozhi also looked grim. Since arriving in Shengjing, he hadn’t had a moment of rest, and these troublesome situations just kept coming one after another, as if they didn’t see him as a person.

"If I can’t save Bai Yi today, I’ll never practice medicine again!" Yun Mozhi gritted his teeth and then pinched Bai Yi's philtrum, using acupuncture needles to stimulate his vital points. He grabbed Bai Yi's right hand from Xiao Yiran’s and continued checking his pulse, switching between different acupuncture points. Only when he felt a faint pulse did he exhale in relief. "It’s fine now. There’s a pulse. If you take good care of him in the coming days, he should be fine once he wakes up."

"When will he wake up?" Xiao Yiran asked, his voice full of urgency and hope.

"...I’m not sure. This was a very close call. Right now, there’s no immediate danger to his life, but his body has been damaged. The Xing Han Dan’s effect is too strong. His body was already weak to begin with. You’ll need to take extra care of him and let him recover properly."

"Okay, I’ll stay with him." Xiao Yiran nodded, turning his attention back to Bai Yi.

"Alright... I’ll have Yuan’er find someone to clean up. He’s not in a condition to move yet. You stay with him. If anything happens, call for me. I’ll check on the baby..." Yun Mozhi tidied himself up and walked toward the next room.

Xiao Yiran nodded. He couldn’t focus on the baby right now, but he trusted Yun Mozhi would take good care of it. When Yun Mozhi returned holding the baby, Xiao Yiran suddenly spoke, "Please tell Min’er to have Murong Yao take care of Huaiyuan, and to look after Lan’er. Have Auntie check on things, and we’ll talk about it once A Yi wakes up."

Yun Mozhi responded with a soft "Mm" and left, carefully holding the baby.

Though Yuan’er was concerned about Bai Yi, she didn’t want to disturb them. She quietly changed the bed sheets and tidied up the room before leaving.

Now, only Xiao Yiran and Bai Yi remained in the room. The room, now cleaned, no longer smelled of the earlier chaos, but there was still a faint trace of blood in the air. Xiao Yiran gently brushed Bai Yi's face, moving the sweaty hair away from his forehead. He gazed deeply at Bai Yi, unwilling to close his eyes, even for a moment...
