TEDAWSCCP Chapter 6

Time flew by, and before they knew it, it was June 1st.
In the classroom, autograph books were being passed around in secret. Even Jiang Jin Yue had prepared one, and his classmates eagerly wrote messages inside, hoping that this top student—who was bound for greatness—would remember them in the future. The words "Don’t forget me if you get rich" were written in large, bold characters, as if afraid that Jiang Jin Yue would overlook them.
By the time the book reached Tong Yao, there was barely any space left. He had no choice but to write on the book’s spine.
His palms were sweaty as he gripped the pen, nervously wiping them on his clothes. He was afraid of dirtying Jiang Jin Yue’s book.
"Farewell, boundless river moon."
The first four characters trembled with hesitation, but for the last three, he forced himself to steady his hand and wrote carefully.
Only after finishing did he realize—there was no space to sign his name.
…But it didn’t matter. Even if he had signed it, Jiang Jin Yue wouldn’t remember him in the long years ahead.
Their class had seventy or eighty students. For all he knew, Jiang Jin Yue might not even be aware that he existed.
After writing his message, Tong Yao looked up at Jiang Jin Yue’s back.
Today, like always, Jiang Jin Yue wore the same plain white T-shirt as him.
"Li Wei, can you pass this book to Jiang Jin Yue for me? Thanks," Tong Yao asked the student in front of him.
This was one of the rare times he said Jiang Jin Yue’s name outside of reading the poem Pipa Song in class.
Every syllable felt precious to him.
Because soon, the name "Jiang Jin Yue" would become something he could only say but never see.
He repeated it silently in his heart while he still could:
Jiang Jin Yue, Jiang Jin Yue, Jiang Jin Yue…
As the whole class was engulfed in the bittersweet melancholy of parting, Tong Yao thought to himself:
Goodbye, Jiang Jin Yue.
