After Qin Mo’s words, Lin Su stood frozen, as if doused in cold water. It chilled him to the bone but also woke him up.
He had never consciously thought about what Qin Mo just said. But deep in his subconscious, had he been afraid all along? What did it truly mean to give Ye Xin happiness? Ye Xin loved him, and yet he pushed him away. Ye Xin was willing to risk everything to be with him, yet he didn’t even have the courage to hold him.
Age, status, identity—so what if he bore all of these burdens? Did that mean he couldn’t give Ye Xin happiness?
At the end of the day, would there ever be another Alpha who loved Ye Xin as deeply as he did?
Lin Su’s confused gaze gradually steadied. He finally understood.
Ye Xin had the courage to face everything. What right did he have to be afraid?
If he truly wanted Ye Xin to be happy, then he had to fight for it himself! Not just hope for some vague future that might never come.
Having successfully knocked some sense into Lin the Blockhead, Shi Qing dragged the “Best Actor” away in triumph.
The moment they stepped out of the room, the “Best Actor” dropped the act.
All that anger, all that contempt, all that frustration—gone in an instant. Qin Mo was back to being Qin Mo, utterly indifferent to the world around him.
Shi Qing was in awe. Host, if you had pulled this move earlier, wouldn’t this side quest have been resolved ages ago?
Of course, he only muttered this in his head. He wasn’t stupid enough to say it out loud.
When it comes down to it, if the goal was simply to complete the task quickly, tying Ye Xin up and marrying her off to Gu Yan would be the most straightforward approach. After all, he was marrying the younger brother—who cared which one it was?
But this time, Qin Mo backed down. He even went along with Shi Qing’s little act. To be honest, Shi Qing was a little touched.
His host was finally making progress on the road to recovery!
Though the change was subtle, as long as he was moving in the right direction, even at a snail’s pace, he would eventually reach his destination!
After giving himself a little motivational speech, the naïve system, Little Panda, was once again full of fighting spirit.
As luck would have it, just as they finished dealing with one problem, another one popped up on their way back to the Ye residence. Since they took a shortcut, they ended up running into another troublesome duo.
Shi Qing was a little slow to react, but Qin Mo quickly pulled him aside, pressing him against a narrow corner of the wall.
The space was small, and standing side by side would make them too noticeable. So Qin Mo simply pulled him into his arms, their chests tightly pressed together. Given Shi Qing’s slender frame, the two of them looked like a single person.
Shi Qing’s head spun a little, and he instinctively tried to move.
But Qin Mo’s hands tightened around his waist, pressing firmly against his lower back, making it impossible for him to budge.
His large, warm hands rested against such a sensitive spot, separated only by thin layers of clothing.
Shi Qing… instantly turned into a bright red shrimp.
Just as he was about to say something, a familiar voice sounded from outside.
Huh? That sounded like his second brother, Ye Zhen?
Late at night, out and about—unless you were out drinking or picking up girls, what else would you be doing?
That saying was true no matter the era, and this one was no exception.
But Ye Zhen wasn’t here for either of those reasons. His mind was too preoccupied with a certain someone—the comrade he had fought beside through life and death. He had no interest in anyone else.
The only reason he came out tonight was pure obligation.
As the second young master of the Ye family, Ye Zhen had been quite the playboy before realizing his true feelings. He had lived a wild, carefree life, a true scoundrel.
Although he had turned over a new leaf, he still had a bunch of old drinking buddies. Cutting ties with most of them was easy, but some childhood friends were impossible to shake off.
His friends still enjoyed their wild nights out, and while Ye Zhen no longer did, their long-standing friendship meant he couldn’t completely ignore them without risking a group beatdown. So, he made a compromise—showing up for a bit, not drinking, not fooling around, just catching up with old friends.
But halfway through their reunion, his gaze suddenly landed on a familiar figure—his heart’s desire.
At first, Ye Zhen was struck with guilt. He rushed to explain himself, practically ready to drop to his knees and beg for forgiveness on the spot.
But then, he froze.
Why was his Xiao Yun Yun here?
He was self-absorbed, sure, but even he wouldn’t be so delusional as to think Shi Yun was here for him. Which meant… was Shi Yun also here to “play”?!
Ye Zhen felt his world shatter.
Of course, being thick-skinned had always been his specialty. And given that he had been relentlessly pursuing Shi Yun, whose temper was anything but mild, he didn’t dare push too hard.
So, he resorted to his old tricks—playing the pitiful victim while subtly prying for answers.
Unfortunately, he didn’t realize his hesitant, guilty behavior only made him look even more suspicious in Shi Yun’s eyes.
Shi Yun wasn’t here for Ye Zhen at all. His appearance was purely coincidental.
If Ye Zhen, the young master, had social obligations, did that mean Shi Yun didn’t? His fellow soldiers often gathered here to relax over drinks.
Shi Yun hated these places, but as an Alpha, he had to put in the effort to adapt. Even if he only showed up once out of ten times, he was trying to blend in.
Who would have thought that the moment he arrived, he’d run into the ever-charming Ye Zhen?
Thinking about how Ye Zhen had been constantly professing his love lately, then seeing him now, laughing and joking around like nothing had changed, Shi Yun felt like he must be blind.
This smooth-talking liar deserved to be crushed with one slap and thrown out the window!
Anger surged within him, but he barely managed to suppress it, pretending not to notice Ye Zhen.
But then, Ye Zhen had the audacity to come over and start “explaining” himself.
Explain what? Who the hell would believe him?!
Shi Yun’s patience snapped. He turned to leave, but Ye Zhen followed right behind him.
Both men were in top physical condition, and within moments, they had left the crowd behind—only to run straight into Shi Qing and Qin Mo.
Ye Zhen was still busy putting on his pitiful act, while Shi Yun was seething. His face darkened as he coldly spat out, “Get lost! Who the hell cares what you do? Stop talking nonsense and pissing me off!”
He looked impatient, but in reality, he couldn’t bear to hear any more.
If he kept listening, he might lose control.
He couldn’t say he had no feelings for Ye Zhen. That was impossible. From military school to the battlefield, fighting side by side, risking their lives together—there was no way Ye Zhen didn’t hold a place in his heart.
There was even a time when their squad had fifteen men, but only the two of them survived. Ye Zhen had fought desperately to keep him alive.
With a history like that, how could Shi Yun not care?
But that was precisely the problem.
He knew Ye Zhen too well.
He knew exactly how reckless and frivolous Ye Zhen used to be.
And that was why… he couldn’t trust him now.
It was indeed unreliable. Saying they liked him, cared about him, disregarded worldly views, and ignored family background—but then what? In the end, they were still the same, playing around and having their fun.
Ever since Shi Yun understood things and inherited his father's will, he had already prepared himself for a lifetime of solitude. He wouldn’t delay any Omega, nor would he seek out any Alpha.
All he wanted was to complete his father’s unfinished work and find his long-lost twin brother. That was enough.
As for Ye Zhen, no matter what, he would always be his lifelong best friend.
But anything beyond that... was impossible.
They were not suitable for each other.
Ye Zhen could see the look on Shi Yun’s face, and his heart ached with every beat. However, the advantage of being thick-skinned was that he had already decided to cling on no matter what. So, a little pain here and there—he could handle it.
He pressed on, earnestly assuring him, "Shi Yun, I really didn’t do anything. You saw it yourself—I was with Yan San and the others. They invited me multiple times, and I only came this once. I didn’t even take a sip of alcohol. How could I have done anything else? You don’t believe me? Then smell me!"
Of course, Shi Yun knew whether Ye Zhen had been drinking or not. But he didn’t want to waver anymore. He pushed him away with a look of disgust, his voice as cold as ice: "Ye Zhen, I’ve told you many times, we can be brothers, but anything else is impossible! I will never like any Alpha!"
This was the first time Shi Yun had spoken so clearly and directly. Though Ye Zhen was thick-skinned, he still had a heart. At this moment, he truly felt like he couldn’t bear it.
He stared at Shi Yun for a long time before finally speaking, "So, if it’s an Omega, it’s okay?"
Omega? That was even more impossible! The words were at the tip of Shi Yun’s tongue, but he quickly held them back. How could he say something like that out loud? He paused briefly, then glanced at Ye Zhen’s expression. Hardening his resolve, he raised his voice and declared, "Of course! I’m an Alpha. My partner can only be an Omega. I only like Omegas!"
That one sentence drained the energy from Ye Zhen. He lowered his head, his voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking to himself, "But I can’t become an Omega."
Shi Yun's body stiffened. He looked at Ye Zhen, then squeezed his eyes shut tightly. When he finally spoke again, his voice was crisp, cold, and ruthless: "Exactly. We are both Alphas, so it is absolutely impossible."
Hidden in a corner, Shi Qing, who had been eavesdropping, was blinking in amusement.
These two were obviously up to something!
They probably thought they were acting all cool and aloof, but from an outsider’s perspective, their feelings were painfully obvious!
Shi Yun, if you dare say you have no interest in Ye Zhen, then I’m not your real brother!
So… what exactly is all this stubbornness about?
Shi Qing leaned close to Qin Mo, taking advantage of their proximity to whisper, "Shi Yun is the biological brother of this body?"
Qin Mo nodded, his lips just brushing against someone's neck, and simply didn’t move away.
Shi Qing shivered from the ticklish sensation and quickly grabbed his hand before continuing, "Then why does he look nothing like me?"
Qin Mo exhaled warmly. "His facial features are actually quite similar. They’re twin brothers. He’s just wearing a disguise."
Shi Qing’s eyes widened in realization, momentarily forgetting about the increasingly restless hand behind him.
"Twins? Identical?"
"Mm."
Shi Qing's eyes curved into a mischievous smile. He had an idea.
Releasing Qin Mo’s hand, he wrapped his arms around his head, tiptoed, and gave him a big kiss. Then he said, "I think we’re about to complete our mission."
Qin Mo raised an eyebrow. Just as he was about to pull him in for a deep kiss, the little panda suddenly bolted.
So, basically... pandas should have zero agility. But when paired with divine speed, it was truly annoying.
Shi Qing, who had just leaped away, strode toward the quarreling pair and exclaimed in shock, "Second Brother, what are you doing here?"
Ye Zhen was still drowning in sorrow when he saw his little brother and was momentarily stunned. He was about to ask the same thing—what was his brother doing here?
Meanwhile, the other party, Shi Yun, froze completely upon seeing Shi Qing’s face.
He had searched for over ten years and never expected that his lost twin brother was actually Ye Zhen’s younger brother!
In the previous timeline, when Shi Yun and Shi Qing finally reunited, it was a complete mess. Not to mention Shi Qing was too caught up in his emotions to think clearly—even Shi Yun wasn’t able to just blurt out, "I’m your brother!" at such a chaotic moment. Instead, he had to focus on handling the unexpected incident.
Then, when things finally settled and Shi Yun was about to explain, Ye Zhen, drowning in his own misguided jealousy, had grabbed both of his brothers and run off before Shi Yun could even catch up.
To be fair, Ye Zhen’s ridiculous reaction was directly linked to tonight’s argument. Shi Yun’s stubborn belief that Alphas and Omegas were meant to be together had alarmed Ye Zhen, making him terrified that Shi Yun might actually end up marrying his own little brother. So, in his panic, he had fled.
What followed was an even bigger mess. By the time Shi Yun finally caught up and properly reunited with his brother, the host had already been fully activated. As for what happened after that… cough, cough… Since they had restarted this timeline, it was better not to mention it.
But this time around, Shi Qing had taken the initiative, and with no unexpected incidents getting in the way, Shi Yun wouldn’t waste any more time. The first thing he did was step forward to acknowledge his brother.
There was no need for more words—just taking off the mask would be enough.
Especially since Shi Qing had been waiting for Shi Yun to recognize him as his brother, he naturally didn’t resist. After a symbolic moment of surprise, his eyes welled up with tears.
As someone who genuinely had an older brother, it was easy for Shi Qing to get into character. The moment he thought of Shi Yue, he was fully immersed in the emotions of the scene.
The two brothers hugged each other tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.
Ye Zhen, on the other hand, was utterly stunned, standing there like a block of wood. What kind of crazy plot twist was this?!
But soon, his peculiar train of thought suddenly went ding—a light bulb moment.
Twins… looking so alike… they must be identical.
If they were identical, then his fifth brother was a Beta, which meant… that meant Shi Yun—
Ye Zhen grabbed Shi Yun and pulled him close, locking eyes with him. “Are you a Beta?”
Shi Yun was momentarily stunned. The excitement of finally finding his long-lost brother had clouded his mind, making him momentarily forget about this crucial detail!
Luckily, Shi Qing had been disguising himself as a Beta, so he could also claim to be one.
Unfortunately, his hopes were shattered in the very next second.
A calm yet unmistakably assertive voice spoke from behind them:
"Xiao Qing is an Omega. My Omega."
