Alternate Universe Extra (Zhihu-style Post)
Question: What are your thoughts on teacher-student relationships?

My story is a bit bizarre, so just treat it as a late-night fictional post. No need to take it seriously.

Honestly, a teacher-student relationship is nothing. Have you ever dated your school principal?

Alright, let’s start from the beginning.

The way I met my significant other was quite unusual—so much so that it might sound like superstition. I won’t go into detail here, but let’s just say the first time I truly saw him in person was on my university campus.

At that moment, I heard someone behind me ask, "Did you finish your ‘Five Years of College Entrance Exams, Three Years of Mock Exam Tests’?”

Most people who went through the Chinese education system know this book series. I was shocked and turned around, only to see a middle-aged (scratch that) handsome man standing there—dressed in a suit, well-built (I later found out that under those clothes, his muscles were even more defined than mine).

We had interacted before, but I had never seen him in person. In my mind, he should have been a nagging, sharp-tongued homeroom teacher. Who would have thought he’d turn out to be a tall, strikingly handsome man? That was quite a surprise.

Later, I found out he was actually one of the newly appointed vice principals of our university—the youngest in the school’s history. He had been in a car accident just before taking office and was in a coma for three whole months. Then, miraculously, he woke up without any lasting effects and quickly resumed work.

By the time I met him, he was already back to normal.

Didn’t expect this post to get so many questions and upvotes. Thanks for the support! I’ll pick some questions to answer.

1. OP, how did you two get together?

— This has something to do with a rather surreal experience from the past. You can just think of it as me having seen him in a dream before, and he also saw me in his dreams. But at that time, I hadn’t quite figured things out yet, so we didn’t officially start dating until we actually met in college.

There was one time I went to an elective class but entered the wrong classroom by mistake. I only realized it when he walked in and started teaching. By then, it was too late to leave, so I had to brace myself and stay. Then, he kept calling on me to answer questions—ten in a row! I had no idea how to respond. Eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore and blurted out, “Professor, can you stop calling on me? I went to the wrong classroom.”

To my surprise, he smiled and said, “I know. I just wanted to see how long it would take you to admit it.”

I was so mad, you have no idea! He was messing with me on purpose! Doesn’t his conscience hurt? He totally made me the laughingstock of the whole class.

Later, he said he would treat me to a meal to make up for it, but I didn’t go. Who would have thought that in the second semester, he would be teaching one of my required courses? Great, I was stuck with him again. Anyway, after going around in circles, we eventually got together.

Maybe it’s just what people call fate.

2. OP, the vice principal must be a man, right? Then are you a guy or a girl? From the way you talk, you don’t sound much like a girl.

— Let’s just keep it as an open secret. No need to spell it out.

3. OP, which school is this handsome and well-built vice principal from? Don’t tell me it’s T University? I’m from T University, and our vice principal is indeed very handsome—he has tons of fangirls! Someone even made a fan club for him. Plus, the way you described his teaching style sounds just like him. Is it him or not?!

— That’s personal information, so I’m skipping this one.

4. A student dating the vice principal sounds so cool! OP, tell us about your daily life together—we want to hear!

— Our daily life? It’s basically him roasting me, roasting me, and roasting me again…

Good thing I have a good temper, or we would’ve broken up long ago. Honestly, I’m just putting up with him.

He’s a total gentleman in front of others, but with me, he turns into a sharp-tongued demon. The only time he’s not sarcastic is, well… at that time.

5. OP, won’t your relationship affect his career? After all, it’s a teacher-student romance, and one of you is even a vice principal. It doesn’t seem like a good look.

— Actually, I just got my graduation certificate not long ago, so it’s fine. In the future, I’ll be working in the same academic field as him, but I got accepted into a different university for my PhD. He wants me to come back and work at the affiliated hospital of our university, but I told him I’d decide based on the situation.

To be honest, I don’t want to go back. Otherwise, wouldn’t that mean he’d have me under him for life?

Oh, I meant in terms of rank—don’t get the wrong idea.

Alright, that’s all for now. My talkative rooster just made me breakfast and is calling me to get up. I can’t let him see that I posted this.
