IFIWMWMAE Chapter 9: Xie Lin Was Born in the Demon Realm, Doing Evil Since Childhood

On a bright and sunny morning, I received terrible news.
Xie Lin had found the exit to the secret realm.
He said that he woke up in a good mood and went into the deep sea to fetch a Fuxing for me, only to discover the exit in the Fuxing settlement.
Xie Lin spoke of it so casually that I suddenly felt these past three years had been stolen time.
Later, I found out he had lied to me. He had known the location of the exit all along but deliberately delayed telling me. Only when something happened in the Demon Realm, forcing him to return, did he finally reveal it.
After leaving the secret realm, I didn’t mention going back to Cuiwei Peak.
Xie Lin seemed to have forgotten about it, too.
As the seawater dispersed, he held my hand and led me forward, as if it were only natural for me to follow him home.
After returning, Xie Lin was busy for several days. With nothing to do, I wandered around the demon palace every day.
Unlike my last visit, when I was timid and cautious, this time, emboldened by Xie Lin’s status, I ran around recklessly, and no one stopped me.
But why hadn’t Xie Lin returned yet? I was starting to miss him.
At night, unable to sleep, I climbed out of bed, pushed open the window, and looked at the moon.
I didn’t see the moon, but I did see two people in the flower bushes, intimately entangled.
Xun Xi had pinned the Second Prince down among the flowers, kissing him.
I was so shocked that I bit my finger. They… were actually…
The Second Prince’s face was covered in pale pink petals. Xun Xi first nibbled at the petals, then bit the Second Prince’s neck.
My heart pounded, and I dared not watch any longer.
For several days, whenever I closed my eyes, I would recall that intimate scene.
One night, I had a dream.
I dreamed of the time Xie Lin said he would punish me. He didn’t hit me. Instead, he gripped my chin and, just like Xun Xi kissing the Second Prince, bit my lips.
The dream felt so real that when Xie Lin finally returned, I couldn’t bring myself to look at him. Everything felt awkward.
Xie Lin noticed my change in behavior and assumed that someone had bullied me. He kept pressing me to explain.
I didn’t dare say anything.
After bathing, Xie Lin casually draped a thin inner robe over himself. His black hair, damp and reaching his waist, carried a faint misty sheen, making him look even more handsome.
Leaning against the bed, his robe slightly open, revealing a stretch of bare skin, he lifted his gaze toward me and said, “It’s only been a few days, and you’re already missing me like a fool?”
I looked at Xie Lin, my eyes darting around nervously, commanding myself not to blush.
Xie Lin frowned, got out of bed, grabbed my red-faced self, and shoved me under the blankets. He tucked me in and muttered softly, “You really are turning into a fool.”
I pretended to sleep for hours, listening to Xie Lin’s steady breathing. Finally, I peeked open my eyes.
The inner chamber was dimly lit by the soft glow of a night pearl. I turned my head toward the window, and in my mind, the image of the two lovers in the flower bushes surfaced again.
Turning back, I cautiously reached out and poked Xie Lin’s cheek. No reaction.
I thought, if Xun Xi dared to overstep his status, then surely… I could too?
In the dim glow, I slowly inched closer to Xie Lin, holding my breath, shortening the distance bit by bit. Finally, I stealthily pressed my lips to his.
Soft and warm. I wanted to lick them, but out of the corner of my eye, I suddenly saw that Xie Lin was awake, staring at me intently.
It was at this moment that I realized: when faced with absolute danger, a person can tap into unimaginable potential.
I pretended to be sleepwalking, bit Xie Lin’s lips, and mumbled, “Mmm… rose cake tastes so good.”
Xie Lin touched his lips with his fingers and said coolly, “Little lecher, how dare you take advantage of me?”
Blushing furiously, I whispered, “Rose cake really is delicious.”
Xie Lin propped himself up slightly, leaning against the bed with a smile. “Since you love acting so much, why not join the theater and put on a play?”
I slowly scooted backward.
Xie Lin crooked his finger at me. “Come here.”
I froze, unable to move.
Xie Lin pinned me down on the bed. Nervous, I clutched the pillow tightly. He chuckled and said, “So the little lecher can actually get scared?”
What a pointless question. It’s not like I was born shameless.
Besides… this was my first time acting on impulse.
The window wasn’t fully closed, allowing moonlight to slip inside.
Xie Lin’s long hair draped down, intertwining with mine—just like the lovers in the storybooks, bound by unwavering affection.
But I was just a fish.
If Xie Lin found out, would he despise me?
After all, back on the island, he had never eaten fish.
I asked him, “Do I smell fishy?”
Xie Lin said I was ruining the mood and told me to shut up.
I was a little aggrieved. Just moments ago, he had told me to open my mouth, and now he was telling me to shut it. Was it because he didn’t enjoy kissing me?
Thinking this, I earnestly suggested, “If you don’t know how, you can ask Xun Xi. I saw him kissing the Second Prince—”
Xie Lin got mad.
Why was he so short-tempered?!
My lips swelled up. Ugh, ugh, ugh…
Then, the Immortal Lord Zezhou arrived, travel-worn and anxious, urging me to return with him.
He said he had searched all over Huangchuan but couldn’t find me.
He said he had petitioned the Nine Heavens for a special elixir to help me cultivate.
He said he was very worried about me.
He said all of this while Xie Lin stood beside me.
Xie Lin held my hand, lowered his head, and asked, “Do you want to go with him?”
I shook my head.
It was clear that the Immortal Lord Zezhou wanted to take me by force, but this was the Demon Realm—Xie Lin’s territory. He was alone and powerless to do anything.
The Immortal Lord Zezhou cast me a final look before leaving, his expression filled with sorrow.
But I couldn’t feel happy about it. I felt like a heartless traitor.
That night, I couldn’t sleep.
I dreamed of when the Immortal Lord Zezhou saved me from a wild dog’s jaws.
I dreamed of him scolding Lu Yan and his gang for bullying me.
I dreamed of him painstakingly searching for immortal herbs for me and feeding me priceless elixirs every single day.
Xie Lin noticed that I had been listless all day, so he specially went to the mortal realm to buy me a variety of treats—zongzi candy, crispy puffs, candied hawthorn…
I took one bite and stopped eating.
Xie Lin said, “You’re zoning out again.”
I quickly snapped back to attention and denied it, “No, I just felt a little drowsy.”
“I know you’re thinking about your Su Zezhou. If you want to go back, then go,” Xie Lin said as he put away the array of mortal snacks before me. “Stop getting in my way.”
“I don’t want to go back.”
Xie Lin let out a short laugh and asked, “Really?”
I didn’t answer.
In the end, Xie Lin personally escorted me back.
I asked him if he would come to find me.
Xie Lin didn’t turn around.
Life on Cuiwei Peak remained as uneventful as ever.
The Immortal Lord Zezhou treated me better and better, even standing up for me at the sect assembly. From then on, no one dared to bully me anymore.
Even Lu Yan, when he saw me, only dared to mutter a few harsh words under his breath.
This was the life I had once dreamed of, but now, it wasn’t.
Day after day, I kept wondering—why hadn’t Xie Lin come to find me?
He must be angry. After all, I was an ungrateful wretch.
The Immortal Lord Zezhou told me that yesterday, Xie Lin had stormed into the Abyss of Souls without reason and slaughtered countless evil spirits. Their agonized wails echoed so far that even the Xuan Domain, a hundred miles away, could hear them.
I shot to my feet and anxiously asked, “Was he hurt?”
Seeing me like this, the Immortal Lord Zezhou began lecturing me about morality and the distinction between good and evil. He said that Xie Lin was born in the Demon Realm, raised in wickedness, and that I mustn’t be deceived by his fleeting moments of kindness.
He spent half a day admonishing me, urging me never to think about Xie Lin again.
From autumn to winter, Xie Lin never appeared.
I missed him terribly.
That day, snow fell heavily.
I sought out the Immortal Lord Zezhou to bid him farewell.
I was going to find Xie Lin.
