IFIWMWMAE Chapter 7: Xie Lin Treats Me the Second Best in the World

Xie Lin asked suspiciously, “Why does that hypocrite Su Zezhou value you so much?”

I couldn't stand him slandering Zezhou Immortal Lord, so I immediately retorted, “Zezhou Immortal Lord is not a hypocrite! He has the world in his heart and is the kindest person ever!”

Xie Lin sneered and said leisurely, “Oh, what a grand ‘having the world in his heart.’”

I dumped all the seashells in my arms, thinking—I won’t give him a single one.

“Quite the temper, huh?” Xie Lin glanced at me. “Fine, let’s stop talking about your Zezhou Immortal Lord.”

The sea was gradually swallowed by darkness.

I was hungry.

But I had just gotten mad at Xie Lin—he definitely wouldn't pay attention to me.

Hugging my knees, I sat on the beach, gazing at the vast, rolling sea. A wave of sorrow welled up in my heart.

If I had known I would be hungry, I would have let him insult Zezhou Immortal Lord a little.

After all, Zezhou Immortal Lord wouldn’t hear it anyway.

On the fifth time I secretly glanced at Xie Lin, he finally spoke. “What are you looking at?”

Just as I was hesitating whether to say something, he added, “If you're hungry, go into the sea and catch some fish. I'm not helping you, you ungrateful brat.”

Hearing that, I felt a bit ashamed, so I got up and walked toward the sea.

Although I was now in human form, my affinity for water hadn’t changed.

After a few steps, Xie Lin pulled me back.

“With your scrawny little arms and legs, you'd drown the moment you step into the sea. Just wait here.” He pushed me back onto the sand and, before leaving, asked, “What kind of fish do you want?”

I muttered, “One with more meat and fewer bones.”

Xie Lin chuckled. “Picky eater.”

Without even going near the water, he cast a spell, and the fish in the sea started leaping onto the shore. He picked a few, then with a flick of his sleeve, sent the rest back into the ocean.

A bright fire ignited from a crystal stone. Xie Lin slowly turned the fish over, and soon, the rich aroma of grilled fish filled the air.

I couldn’t help but swallow my saliva.

“Smells good?” Xie Lin asked.

I nodded eagerly and asked, “Can I eat now?”

I ate three fish.

Xie Lin watched me as I ate, leaning back on the sand with his arms propped up, a smile on his face. “The way you eat is even more exaggerated than a Qiongqi—huge mouth, devouring everything.”

I hiccupped and slowed down.

Trying to imitate Zezhou Immortal Lord, I straightened my back and elegantly tore off a piece of fish.

Xie Lin scoffed, saying I was putting on airs—that I looked better when I was just eating naturally.

So I dropped all pretense and ate freely.

At midnight, Xie Lin was practicing his techniques. Having nothing to do, I leaned against him and fell asleep.
