That one word—scumbag—came at the exact moment the entire class had fallen silent, just as the old lady with the afro hairstyle walked in with the lesson plan.

Everyone was so startled that no one dared to make a sound.

Zhou You was stunned for a moment before breaking the silence. "What did you just say?"

Normally, he spoke without an accent, but when he was scared, anxious, or angry, his northern dialect would slip out.

This time, the pure northern accent was unmistakable.

Tong Tong snapped back to reality, looking around. Oh no.

This... wasn't a dream.

"Uh... I... I just..." Tong Tong tried to keep a straight face and explain calmly. "I just..."

"You just called me a scumbag," Zhou You said, still dumbfounded.

".........."

Tong Tong glared at him, his anger flaring up again. "Yeah, I did."

Now Zhou You was the one who fell silent.

The two stared at each other. Just as the class thought they were about to fight—

The old lady with the afro wobbled over. "No fighting! Kids shouldn't fight! You're classmates, you should love and care for each other."

Tong Tong saw that she was about to fall right onto him and quickly reached out to steady her, sighing as he explained, "Ms. Cao, we weren’t fighting."

"As long as there's no fighting, that's good," Ms. Cao squinted at them and smiled kindly. "How about this? Shake hands, then hug, and you'll be good friends again."

"......"

"......"

Now both of them were speechless.

"Alright, it's just a word, no big deal," Zhou You raised an eyebrow and reached out, grabbing Tong Tong's hand.

Zhou You’s hands were big and warm. Tong Tong’s were small and cold.

Their hands clasped together, and Tong Tong felt completely uncomfortable, but Zhou You was stronger, so he couldn’t pull away.

Zhou You pulled him into his arms forcefully, gave him two pats on the back, and grinned. "Good sisters!"

Tong Tong was fuming but had to hold it in until Ms. Cao went back up front.

Zhou You looked down at the top of his head and thought the strands of hair brushing under his chin felt incredibly soft.

"Alright, class is starting," Ms. Cao said with satisfaction and walked back up.

Tong Tong immediately pushed Zhou You away, his breathing uneven.

Tong Tong had asthma. Usually, running or light exercise was fine, but sudden fright or strong emotional stimuli were another story.

When the breath wouldn’t come, he panicked, sat down, and bent slightly forward, trying to calm down.

Zhou You turned his head and saw that Tong Tong's face had gone pale.

Bloodless, stark white.

"What's wrong?" Zhou You's grin faded as he frowned at him.

Tong Tong slowly exhaled the breath he had just inhaled into his lungs. Feeling a little better, he glanced at Zhou You with irritation. "None of your business."

Seeing that he was doing better, Zhou You raised an eyebrow and smiled. "I've been meaning to ask you—why do you always seem short of breath? Are your airways too narrow?"

"No," Tong Tong replied impatiently.

"Then what's wrong with you?" Zhou You asked.

"Maybe my lungs are just small," Tong Tong brushed him off, arching his back before straightening up again.

"Then I'll give you half of mine. I have big lungs," Zhou You said with a smile, but his tone was surprisingly serious.

"…"

Tong Tong opened his mouth, wanting to mock him, but when he saw Zhou You’s eight perfectly aligned teeth, he decided against it.

Tong Tong knew his own temper wasn't exactly likable. He had known Zhuang Qian, his childhood friend, for over ten years, yet even Zhuang Qian couldn’t tolerate his temper at times. They had gotten into numerous fights because of it.

He figured that if someone treated him the way he treated Zhou You, he would never even glance at them for the rest of his life.

But Zhou You still smiled at him like that.

A small, unusual thought began to take root in Tong Tong’s mind.

And when he connected it to that dream he had…

Tong Tong had always been smart and quick-witted. He was especially fond of detective shows and would analyze things just for fun.

Just now, after a quick analysis, he realized—could it be… is it possible… maybe…

As a certain possibility crossed his mind, the tips of Tong Tong's ears turned red. He carefully turned his head to sneak a look at Zhou You.

To be fair, Zhou You was very good-looking. The kind of handsome that exuded masculinity.

It was exactly the kind of face Tong Tong had always admired.

However, Tong Tong truly felt that Zhou You’s personality didn’t quite match his face.

Tong Tong let out a sigh.

"You can still sigh while looking at my face?" Zhou You, who had been staring at the blackboard, suddenly spoke.

"…"

Tong Tong stiffly turned his head away and remained like that until lunchtime.

As soon as the bell rang, a large group of students rushed out of the classroom to grab lunch.

Zhuang Qian knew that Tong Tong never ate lunch in the summer, so he didn't bother inviting him. Instead, he left with a group of boys from their class.

In no time, more than half the classroom was empty.

Tong Tong finally turned to look at Zhou You. "Why are you still sitting here?"

Zhou You blinked. "Aren't you still sitting here too?"

Tong Tong stared at him for a few seconds before helplessly raising his hand and calling out to a girl who was about to leave through the back door. "Xue Lingling."

"Yeah? Need something?" Xue Lingling turned around.

"Take him with you to grab lunch," Tong Tong said, pointing at Zhou You.

"Sure! Come on, handsome," Xue Lingling smiled and waited.

"You’re not eating?" Zhou You tilted his head at him.

"No," Tong Tong impatiently pushed him toward the door. "Go on, a girl is waiting for you."

There were only about ten boys in the class, and they'd all left. Tong Tong didn't dare ask any other girl to accompany Zhou You—he was afraid they’d be scared to tears.

Xue Lingling had been in his class back in first year. She had a pretty good temperament.

Zhou You didn’t say anything, just grinned and followed Xue Lingling out.

The classroom quieted down, and soon the whole school building became still.

Tong Tong flipped through a few pages of his book, feeling inexplicably irritated.

He didn’t know why he was upset. Or maybe he did, but he didn’t want to put his feelings into words.

If he did, he might just end up crying.

Tong Tong stared out into the hallway for a while before deciding to go to the restroom, then find Zhuang Qian.

He didn’t want to be alone.

As soon as he entered the restroom and pulled down his zipper—

"Hey, Tong Tong?" A voice came from behind him.

Tong Tong turned around. The boy looked familiar, but he couldn’t remember his name.

Xiao Kai, seeing that Tong Tong didn’t respond, said nothing either. Instead, he scanned Tong Tong from head to toe.

Tong Tong frowned, still unable to recall who he was.

Noticing Tong Tong’s blank expression, Xiao Kai’s face darkened. "Young Master Tong, I heard your family went bankrupt."

At those words, Tong Tong suddenly remembered.

This boy’s father used to work for his father’s company. He had even met him once when visiting his father’s office.

Back then, his father’s employees had called him "Young Master Tong," and this boy had followed suit.

His name… was it Xiao Kai?

"I also heard your family is in debt?" Xiao Kai stopped at a nearby urinal and unzipped his pants.

Tong Tong still didn’t speak, only turning to look at Xiao Kai with cold eyes.

"Don’t look at me like that. It’s not my fault your family went bankrupt," Xiao Kai chuckled. "It’s not my fault your father ended up in the hospital either."

Tong Tong’s expression darkened, but he still said nothing. He lowered his head, zipped his pants back up, and took a step forward.

Just as he did—

The restroom door swung open with a loud bang.

Tong Tong turned to look—it was Zhou You.

Zhou You stood at the doorway, his expression grim and silent.

Xiao Kai looked over as well. But as soon as he took in Zhou You’s height and the imposing aura he radiated, he instinctively averted his gaze.

Tong Tong frowned as he studied Zhou You, his expression complicated. He didn’t know how much Zhou You had overheard.

He actually cared a lot about people knowing that his family had gone bankrupt and was in debt.

The silence in the restroom grew heavier and more suffocating.

Xiao Kai glanced between the two of them and, realizing they knew each other, scoffed. Without even zipping up his pants, he sneered at Zhou You. "Who the hell are you?"

Zhou You narrowed his eyes, his face ice-cold.

Tong Tong’s heart suddenly started beating faster—this expression of Zhou You’s was incredibly cool.

If he didn’t say something blunt and powerful right now, it would be a waste of that face.

Just as Xiao Kai was about to say something else, Zhou You took two steps forward and finally spoke.

"Look at your mouth—looks like a dog licked it. Think you're the only one with a mouth? Keep yapping, you sound like a damn mother duck."

Tong Tong: “…………”

Xiao Kai was stunned. That accent didn’t sound like someone from around here.

Xiao Kai snapped back to his senses, furrowing his brows and glaring, “No, you—”

“What do you mean, ‘no’?” Zhou You cut him off, speaking rapidly while clapping his hands. “Look at you acting all tough. Does your family own a demolition business? Come on, demolish something for me. Show me how amazing you are so I can give you a round of applause.”

Xiao Kai’s face turned red, and he struggled to form words. “You… you… I…”

Zhou You glanced down at his lower body, then threw out a brutal insult. “People with tiny dicks don’t get to speak, got it?”

“F***.” Xiao Kai was so furious he almost lost his mind. He hurriedly zipped up his pants and stormed out of the bathroom, spitting out threats as he left. “Just you wait.”

“Don’t wait, let’s do this right now.” Zhou You’s speech system was completely scrambled. “Beating you is easier than peeling potatoes. I could take down ten of you in a minute, believe it or not?”

Xiao Kai was on the verge of tears from the humiliation. He grabbed his pants and ran.

Tong Tong: “……”

Tong Tong’s heart turned to ash. He made up his mind—no matter what happened, he would never, ever kiss this idiot.

Zhou You turned to look at Tong Tong, utterly disappointed. “Look at you. Weren’t you pretty good at rolling your eyes at me before—”

“Speak Mandarin!” Tong Tong couldn’t take it anymore. Zhou You couldn’t be allowed to butcher his handsome face with that accent.

Zhou You paused for a moment, then smiled and adjusted his tone back to normal. “Sorry, my accent’s a mess because I traveled around the north with my dad when I was a kid. When I get mad, I can’t control it.”

Seeing him return to normal, Tong Tong sighed in relief, finally relaxing.

The urge to pee, which he had been holding in, hit him hard. He didn’t even care that Zhou You was still watching him. He unzipped his pants.

“Why’d you stop talking again?” Zhou You grabbed his shoulder and stood in front of him. “Can you just tell me what pisses you off? I’ll avoid it, okay?”

“You’re blocking me.” Tong Tong was so desperate to pee that a vein was throbbing on his forehead. “Can we talk later?”

“How about this—just tell me what you don’t like about me. Let’s figure it out together. I really like you, and I want to be friends with you.”

“Not now—I need to pee…” Tong Tong was at his limit.

“You need to what?” Zhou You didn’t hear him.

“Pee…” Tong Tong gritted his teeth.

“You need to—” Before Zhou You could finish his sentence, he felt something warm on his leg. He jumped up in horror. “Holy sh*t!”

Tong Tong, expressionless, aimed perfectly and finally spoke. “Pee.”
