Zhou You was completely stunned. He struggled in vain, finally realizing that when Tong Tong had boasted about beating people up in front of the principal, vice principal, and disciplinary director, he hadn’t been bluffing.
The boys in class were terrified, having no idea what had triggered this sudden fight.
Meanwhile, the girls formed a circle, cheering like a cheerleading squad.
The boys: “???”
Zhou You used all his strength to yank his head out of the jacket. “Tong Tong!”
Tong Tong flinched at his shout and instinctively tried to step back—
But Zhou You had already wrapped an arm around his waist.
Zhou You directly wrapped his arms around Tong Tong’s waist and effortlessly lifted him up, pressing him onto the desk. He lowered his voice in a threatening tone, “Do you believe that I could lift you up like a barbell in front of the whole class?”
“Let me go.” Tong Tong struggled under his weight and tried to back away until his back hit the window.
“No.” Zhou You pressed him down with one hand while using the other to yank off his tie.
The top two buttons of his shirt popped open.
“You… What are you doing?” Tong Tong spoke while sneaking a glance at his collar.
That chest.
Zhou You noticed his gaze but didn’t call him out on it. Instead, he suddenly straightened up and lifted his shirt.
The classroom erupted with screams from the girls, who seemed too shy to speak, covering their eyes.
In reality, they had forgotten to turn off their phone’s flashlights.
Tong Tong froze, unable to look away from Zhou You’s exposed abs.
But only for a moment.
His vision suddenly went dark, and his face was pressed against something warm and firm.
Before he could react, Zhou You had completely wrapped him up in his shirt, holding him tightly by the waist and head.
Tong Tong was smothered against Zhou You’s abs.
He was suffocating.
Damn! Zhou You was crazy!
The two of them broke into a full-on fight.
The entire class, boys and girls alike, rushed in to separate them.
After being forcibly pulled apart, Tong Tong sat at his desk, fuming in silence. He covered his reddened nose and decided to give up on his secret crush.
What the hell was all this?
It was just a dream, and he actually believed it.
Who was he kidding? Even if Zhou You confessed to him, would he accept?
Of course not.
If he didn’t accept, he wouldn’t get dumped, right?
Flawless logic.
Tong Tong comforted himself while stubbornly ignoring Zhou You.
And so, Zhou You entered another day of shamelessly chasing after him—and quite enjoying it.
After school, the two walked home, one in front of the other. Just as they reached the hallway, a heated argument between a man and a woman erupted from upstairs, accompanied by the sound of dishes shattering.
“They’re back?” Tong Tong glanced up.
“Seems like—” Before Zhou You could finish, a child’s loud wail echoed from above.
“They’re back.” Zhou You’s face darkened. “I remember that kid’s crying voice.”
“Check your room,” Tong Tong said.
Sure enough, when they entered Zhou You’s bedroom, water was leaking from the ceiling again. The bedding Zhou You had just changed a few days ago was already soaked.
“Let’s go upstairs.” Tong Tong’s face darkened. “This is their responsibility.”
Listening to the crying child upstairs, Zhou You’s expression grew colder.
When they reached the door, the shouting inside became even more unbearable.
Tong Tong frowned and knocked.
It took a long while before the door finally opened. A disheveled woman peeked out, looking confused when she saw Tong Tong.
But when she glanced behind him at Zhou You, her face immediately turned impatient. “You again!”
“Your floor is damaged, and the water—” Tong Tong started.
“I told you, the kid spilled it!” the woman shouted before he could finish. She stepped away from the door, and moments later, a crying little boy was shoved outside.
“You deal with him! Talk to him about it!” With that, the woman slammed the door shut.
Tong Tong was so shocked he froze, and even the child stopped crying.
For only a second.
Then, as reality sank in, Tong Tong’s anger flared.
He took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, and rushed forward, raising his foot to kick the door.
Before his foot could land, he was suddenly lifted off the ground. Zhou You wrapped an arm around his waist and quickly soothed him, “Baby, calm down!”
“What did you just call me?!” Tong Tong turned back, furious.
“Nothing,” Zhou You denied flatly.
“Big brother called you baby!” the little boy said cheerfully.
“Nonsense.” Zhou You held Tong Tong in one arm and took the child’s hand with the other.
As they walked downstairs, he lectured both of them. “Baby, your temper is too fiery. You need to calm down—impulsiveness is the devil. And you, kid, don’t interrupt when adults are talking, got it?”
Tong Tong rolled his eyes. “Shut up!”
The little boy chuckled. “Got it.”
“See? Even a three-year-old listens better than you,” Zhou You clicked his tongue.
“Big brother, I’m four,” the boy corrected.
“Oh? You’re four now? Didn’t expect that, you little shorty. Impressive,” Zhou You mocked.
“Alright, put me down,” Tong Tong grumbled.
“Don’t be impulsive, okay?” Zhou You looked at him seriously. “The kid’s here—don’t scare him.”
“As if I need you to teach me.” Tong Tong huffed.
Zhou You chuckled, sighed, and finally let go of him.
The three of them went downstairs to Zhou You’s room.
“What do we do? Should we call the landlord?” Tong Tong was still fuming over the neighbor’s attitude.
“What’s your name, shorty?” Zhou You ignored the question, sitting on the couch and eyeing the little boy.
“My name is Cong Cong.” The boy answered loudly, unafraid.
“Why does your upstairs keep leaking?” Zhou You asked.
“The kitchen floor is cracked,” Cong Cong replied.
“Your mom told me to talk to you. What do you think we should do?” Zhou You asked.
“My dad should fix it,” Cong Cong said.
“Smart kid.” Zhou You suddenly pulled out a lollipop from somewhere.
“Thank you, big brother!” Cong Cong happily accepted it.
Tong Tong watched Zhou You ruffle the child’s hair, looking a little puzzled.
Zhou You, with his sharp features, looked cold and intimidating when he wasn’t smiling. Even when he did smile, he didn’t seem like someone kids would naturally like.
Yet, strangely enough, this child wasn’t afraid of him. In fact, they seemed to get along pretty well.
"You jealous?" Zhou You squinted at him, twirling his wrist to reveal a lollipop in front of Tong Tong. "Here, my favorite—orange flavor."
"I don't like candy," Tong Tong said disdainfully.
"When the people from upstairs come looking, take the kid and hide in your place," Zhou You slipped a candy into his pocket. "Consider it your payment."
Less than an hour later, the arguing upstairs stopped.
Following Zhou You's instructions, Tong Tong took the child into his home.
Sure enough, three minutes later, the couple from upstairs came down.
They knocked on Zhou You’s door.
Zhou You opened it, his face expressionless as he looked down at them.
"Where’s my son, Cong Cong?" the woman asked anxiously.
"Threw him away," Zhou You said.
"You're full of crap! How dare you throw away my child?" The woman glared at him. "Let me in!"
"No," Zhou You replied.
"You little brat, acting all high and mighty!" The man beside her suddenly forced his way in. Zhou You didn’t hesitate for a second—he kicked him straight out the door.
The man flew backward and landed heavily on the ground.
He struggled for a while but couldn’t get up, then curled up, clutching his stomach, dry heaving.
Tong Tong listened from behind his door for a moment. Worried Zhou You might be at a disadvantage, he cracked the door open, ready to rush out at any moment.
Just as he did, he saw the man getting kicked away.
Tong Tong was stunned for a second, then closed the door again.
Zhou You had told him before that he had a bad temper. He hadn't believed it.
Now, he did.
The woman standing to the side was terrified and was just about to help her man up.
"Listen up," Zhou You spoke, staring at the woman, his gaze fierce.
She froze, her raised hand trembling.
"I don’t care if it was your kid who spilled the water. If I see another drop on my side, your husband will be leaving here with broken legs."
The woman stammered, "You… you’re not afraid I'll call the police…?"
Zhou You stepped forward, grabbed the man by the leg, and started dragging him up the stairs.
The man struggled but couldn’t break free, wailing in fear.
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
"Hurry up and call the cops." Zhou You raised an eyebrow, his tone cold. "Let’s see who’s faster—you getting the police here, or me breaking his legs."
"You’re just a thug!" the woman screamed.
"Then did you understand what this thug just said or not?" Zhou You dragged the man up two more steps.
His face scraped against the stairs with an awful sound.
"I get it!" the woman shouted angrily. "Not a single drop of water, I swear!"
"See? That wasn’t so hard, sis." Zhou You let go of the man's leg and jumped down from the sixth step.
The woman was scared stiff. After a moment, she rushed to help her husband up.
Zhou You clapped the dust off his hands and called out, "Baby, come out!"
With a bang, the door to Tong Tong’s place was kicked open. Tong Tong stepped out, face dark, holding Cong Cong’s hand.
"Cong Cong, come here!" The woman waved anxiously, afraid this thug would beat up her son too.
"Bye-bye, big brother." Cong Cong waved.
Zhou You grinned and bent down to wave back.
The woman picked up her son, then suddenly turned her head back.
Zhou You immediately straightened up, his face stiff, his expression sour.
Watching how fast he switched faces, Tong Tong couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Oh?" Zhou You tilted his head, intrigued. "Baby, it’s rare to see you smile."
"Can you call me by my name?" Tong Tong frowned. "It’s disgusting."
"Sure thing, baby." Zhou You made an OK sign.
"Get lost. Go sleep in your wet blanket tonight." Tong Tong sneered and went back inside.
But he didn’t close the door completely—he left a small gap.
Just in case someone needed to come in, so they wouldn’t really have to sleep in a wet blanket and end up catching a cold.
"This little idiot," Zhou You muttered, staring at the gap with a smirk. "So damn pretentious."
As Tong Tong pulled out the blanket Zhou You had used last time and tossed it onto the top bunk, Zhou You strolled in.
"What the hell is this?" Zhou You bent over laughing at the pile of blanket on the bed. "Looks like a pile of crap."
Tong Tong: "…"
Tong Tong rolled his eyes, glancing at the heap of blanket in the corner of his bed. For once, he didn’t argue with Zhou You’s description. He had always folded his blankets like this. It didn’t matter if the housekeeper tidied them up—his first instinct every morning was to roll his blanket into a ball. Before he knew it, it always turned into a lump, which he then shoved into the corner.
"Look at this mess you made of your blanket." Zhou You walked over and grabbed it, examining it. "Doesn’t this bother you?"
"If it bothers you so much, then come fold it for me every day." Tong Tong finally snapped. "Is folding a blanket really such a big deal?"
Zhou You raised an eyebrow, pushed his palm against Tong Tong’s shoulder, and shoved him onto the bed.
"What are you doing?" Tong Tong frowned and was about to get up when a blanket was thrown over his head.
Before he could react, Zhou You pressed down on him, wrapping the blanket around him so only his head was sticking out. He grumbled under his breath, "Why is your bad temper so damn annoying?"
Tong Tong glared.
"I’m the only one who can tolerate you." Zhou You sighed. "Guess it’s just because I have such a good temper."
"Fu—"
"But even though I have a good temper, I can still feel hurt…" Zhou You suddenly looked all dejected, acting pitiful. "When I first got here, you were the only person I knew. But I felt like… you didn’t really like me. Like you looked down on me. Recently, we've gotten a little closer, but sometimes I still feel like you don’t like me very much. You’re always getting mad out of nowhere, ignoring me, cursing me, hitting me. I act like I don’t care, but honestly, it makes me sad. I just hope you can treat me better from now on. Don’t get mad at me for no reason."
Tong Tong was stunned. After hearing this psychological analysis, he felt quite uncomfortable and even a little guilty. He whispered an apology, “...I won’t suddenly lose my temper anymore. I don’t hate you. I actually like you.”
“What a coincidence.” Zhou You looked surprised.
Tong Tong felt a chill run down his spine, and a flash of white light filled his vision. Suddenly, he remembered that dream.
No way…
Was Zhou You about to confess?
“I like you too,” Zhou You said.
Tong Tong’s face turned red in an instant. His heart pounded wildly, and his breathing grew rapid.
Should he reject or accept? Of course, he should reject—if he accepted, he’d just get dumped later.
But would rejecting him hurt Zhou You’s feelings?
Zhou You looked like a tough guy, but from what he had just heard, his heart actually seemed pretty fragile.
If he rejected Zhou You and he ended up crying, what then?
“I... I…” Tong Tong panicked.
“You like me, and I like you! That means we’ll be best sisters for life!!” Zhou You suddenly lifted him into a hug.
Tong Tong was startled, instinctively wrapping his legs around Zhou You’s waist.
Zhou You held him up with one arm under his butt and spun him in a circle. With his other hand, he held up his phone, showing that it was recording. “You just admitted it, and I got it all on tape! Sis, you can’t randomly throw tantrums at me anymore!”
Realizing what had just happened, Tong Tong was both embarrassed and furious. He lost his mind and sank his teeth into Zhou You’s neck, thinking that today he was going to bite this idiot to death.
“Hey! Hey! Hey! What the hell are you doing?! Let go!!” Zhou You yelled while hopping around, but he didn’t dare drop Tong Tong in case he fell.
So he had no choice but to carry Tong Tong in circles around the room while howling, “It hurts! Ahh! Sis, you’ve lost your mind!”
