Xia Heng woke up smiling.
To him, the most beautiful thing in the world was growing old together with his beloved.
But when he opened his eyes, he realized he was in a hospital room—four plain walls surrounded him, and numerous tubes were connected to his body.
The moment he woke up, a nurse called out, “Patient in bed 035 is awake!”
As soon as Xia Heng heard that, memories flooded his mind.
In reality, he had been a senior college student majoring in fine arts. Though his adoptive parents never showered him with love, they had never mistreated him either.
During a graduation trip, he had been in a car accident. Judging by the situation, it seemed he had been unconscious for quite some time.
As he watched the doctors and nurses bustling around him, a wave of sadness washed over him. So Han Lang was just a dream after all…
Lost in thought, he closed his eyes, feeling more sorrowful by the second.
But just then, two men in suits appeared at his bedside, pushing a wheelchair.
The man sitting in the wheelchair spoke first: “Baby, you finally woke up.”
Startled, Xia Heng opened his eyes—only to see a man who looked exactly like the Han Lang from his dreams.
Smiling at him.
Xia Heng stared in shock, unable to speak.
The doctor smiled as he observed their reunion and said, “It seems that Project N has indeed been effective in waking up patients in a vegetative state.”
“The two patients in the other room have also regained consciousness. You actually know them—you all lived through this program together.”
Xia Heng let out a few muffled syllables, his voice weak and indistinct.
Seeing this, the doctor chuckled. “You’ll need some time to recover before you can speak properly.”
Han Lang also smiled and said, “You know the other two as well—one of them is Cheng Kaiming, and the other is his wife.”
Xia Heng's eyes widened in astonishment.
Han Lang continued with a warm smile, “I also woke up just a few days ago. From now on, I’ll be relying on my dear wife to take care of me.”
With that, he reached out and gently clasped Xia Heng’s pale, slender hand.
Their fingers intertwined tightly—just as they had done before.
