BMQTVC CHAPTER 1-10

BMQTVC Chapter 1

"Hey, President Luo, have you arrived? I've been waiting for you forever."

"I'm here."

A cool voice sounded both from the phone and at the entrance of the bar. Bai Xingrui looked up and scanned the person from head to toe before clicking her tongue in disappointment.

"You're still wearing a black suit? Is that really necessary? You're only twenty-three," she said while stretching out her long legs clad in black stockings. Her red, form-fitting, low-cut dress accentuated her S-shaped curves.

Luo Ke didn’t spare her a glance. She walked to the bar, sat down, and raised her hand to order a drink.

"Did you call me out for something?"

"Can't I call you out for no reason?" Bai Xingrui pouted, resting her chin on her hand in a deliberately flirtatious manner while batting her big eyes at Luo Ke.

Receiving an icy stare in return, she cleared her throat awkwardly and sat up straight.

"Today is your birthday, so I specially prepared a gift for you."

Luo Ke took a sip of her drink and watched as Bai Xingrui pulled out a large box covered with fabric. Her brows furrowed. That big?

With excitement, Bai Xingrui pulled off the black cloth. "Ta-da!"

Luo Ke looked at the weak little kitten inside an iron cage. It lay there, barely breathing, unable to even meow.

She turned her head away, unimpressed. "This cat is about to die from your torment."

Bai Xingrui gasped in shock. She hurriedly lifted the cage, only to find that the kitten truly wasn’t moving, its eyes almost closed.

She reached in and poked the tiny creature before cursing under her breath. Shoving the cage aside, she pulled out her phone, ready to confront the cat seller.

Luo Ke glanced at the kitten’s seemingly lifeless body. Her gaze lingered on its closed eyes for a moment before she looked away.

"Meow—"

A weak, trembling sound broke the silence.

Luo Ke raised an eyebrow in slight surprise and turned back. The kitten opened its eyes at the same time, its amber pupils gleaming under the dim bar lights.

For a brief moment, both human and cat were stunned. Then, Luo Ke watched as the kitten—previously on the brink of death—suddenly bristled, letting out a shrill, panicked screech while arching its tiny back and retreating to the corner of the cage.

Bai Xingrui was still arguing on the phone, oblivious to the scene. Luo Ke nudged her leg with the tip of her shoe, prompting an immediate reaction.

Luo Ke pointed at the cage. "Take your cat away."

Bai Xingrui leaned in, saw that the kitten was alive, glanced at Luo Ke, then grabbed her bag and bolted. "I’ve delivered your birthday gift. It's paid for—bye~"

Luo Ke reached out but failed to catch her, sighing in resignation. She tilted her head back, downed her drink, and prepared to leave.

A man in a white shirt approached, offering her a drink. "Miss, may I buy you one?"

Luo Ke didn't even glance at him. Without a word, she picked up the cage, bumped into the man on her way out, and walked straight to the door.

She opened her car door and tossed the cage onto the passenger seat. Inside, the kitten had gone silent, curled up and trembling, its big eyes filled with fear as it stared at her.

"Troublesome." Luo Ke muttered the word before starting the engine.

·

Crouched in the cage, Lin Sifei was still in shock. She stared down at her paws in disbelief—actual cat paws.

She—triple-award-winning actress, owner of millions of fans, worth billions—was now... a tiny kitten.

Lin Sifei lay in the cage, her head throbbing painfully.

Back in the bar, the sight of towering giants had nearly scared her to death. Even now, she couldn’t stop trembling.

She forced herself to calm down, trying to process what had happened.

Just moments ago, she had been given away as a birthday present…

She had been given to the woman in front of her.

Moreover, she didn’t have the hunting instincts of a stray cat—being a house cat was the best option.

Glancing at the woman driving beside her, Lin Sifei took in her cold, elegant brows, tightly pressed lips, and sharp features. She looked like someone difficult to get along with. And from what happened at the bar earlier, it seemed like she wasn’t particularly keen on keeping a cat.

A wave of pain struck her head again. She curled up, trying to ease the discomfort.

Luo Ke, Luo Ke—

Lin Sifei rolled the name around in her mind, her brows furrowing. It sounded familiar. And earlier, when she was dazed, she had vaguely heard the other woman in the red dress being called... Bai Xingrui.

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened in shock. Wasn’t this the novel she had read before?

The film industry had entered a downturn. Despite being a triple-award-winning actress, her company still wanted her to take on TV dramas. While picking a script, she had been interested in one, but after reading the original novel, she found the adaptation had completely butchered the story—because the original was downright awful.

Then… on her way to the company, she got into a car accident and died.

Lying in the cage, her eyelids drooped.

Her lousy parents were about to inherit her massive fortune. So unfair.

She barely had time to wallow in misery for three minutes before the car stopped. Luo Ke grabbed the cage and stepped out.

Lin Sifei still wasn’t used to people being this big. Terrified, she shrank to the back of the cage.

Luo Ke wasn’t gentle at all when carrying the cage. Lin Sifei felt like she was on a pirate ship, getting tossed around so much that she became dizzy. She gave up and shut her eyes, playing dead.

Night had already fallen. Lin Sifei’s ears twitched. Now that she was a cat, her hearing had become much sharper—she could even hear mosquitoes buzzing in the grass. She curled up even tighter.

Luo Ke placed the cage in the living room, opened the door, then turned and went off to shower and sleep.

The moment she was gone, Lin Sifei darted out of the cage at lightning speed.

She explored the first floor, eventually finding a full-length mirror.

Pressing her two paws against the glass, she saw her reflection—a tiny kitten staring back at her.

Tilting her head from side to side, Lin Sifei had no choice but to accept reality.

After living as a human for so many years, she was now a cat.

She looked up at the second floor, where a light had turned on, and felt even more hopeless.

Worse still, she was the villain’s cat. Later in the story, when the villain went bankrupt, she would end up as a stray.

Now that she had calmed down, Lin Sifei began pacing around the living room.

No way—she absolutely could not become a stray cat.

If she remembered correctly, in the novel, the heroine and the villain became enemies because the heroine was constantly bullied in the villain’s company. Yet, she kept working with them over and over. Her overprotective brothers, furious and wanting to monopolize her attention, naturally destroyed the villain’s company in retaliation.

Lin Sifei sighed. What a disaster.

But if that was the case, then all she needed to do was ensure the heroine got fired the first time she joined the company.

With her stubborn personality, the heroine wouldn’t try to enter any other companies under Luo Ke’s group. That way, a small grudge would prevent a bigger revenge plot. And at the very end, if she acknowledged the heroine’s talent, that could even smooth over the minor conflict altogether.

Lin Sifei sat on the floor, narrowing her eyes in thought.

Then, suddenly, her stomach growled loudly.

She lifted a paw and pressed it against her belly.

The noise only got worse.

The villain hadn’t given her dinner.

She was going to starve to death.

Forcing herself to her feet, Lin Sifei trudged toward the kitchen.

There had to be food there.

But when she arrived, she found that Luo Ke’s kitchen was spotless.

The drawers and fridge were tightly shut—completely out of reach for a tiny kitten like her.

Lin Sifei collapsed on the floor of the kitchen in despair.

Lying on the kitchen floor, Lin Sifei felt utterly miserable, on the verge of tears.

“Pa—” “Pa—” “Pa—”

Her ears twitched, and she turned her head.

Luo Ke stood behind her, wrapped in a silk bathrobe with a towel around her head.

Seeing the tiny kitten sprawled at the fridge door, Luo Ke let out a helpless sigh. “You’re even looking for food in the wrong place.”

She stepped over the cat, crouched down, took out a bag of cat food from the cabinet, and poured some into a bowl. After soaking it in water to soften it, she placed it in front of Lin Sifei.

“Eat.”

Lin Sifei sniffed. The aroma was surprisingly good. She struggled to her feet and nudged closer to the bowl.

Her mouth began to water. The softened cat food touched her lips, and her throat moved slightly. But she hesitated—her pride just wouldn’t let her eat cat food.

In the end, she couldn't bring herself to take a bite. Instead, she looked up at Luo Ke and let out a pitiful “Meow.”

Luo Ke frowned. “Not eating?”

Taking a deep breath, she pulled out her phone and searched. “Goat milk?”

She opened the fridge, rummaged for a while, then pulled out a bottle and walked over to the stove to heat it.

“Bai Xingrui really thought ahead—cat food, goat milk… she came prepared.” Her tone was laced with sarcasm.

Lin Sifei shivered at her voice, but soon, the sweet scent of warm milk filled the air. She couldn't help but swallow.

By the time Luo Ke brought over the goat milk, Lin Sifei was already waiting impatiently beside the bowl.

Just as she was about to drink, she suddenly felt herself being lifted off the ground.

“Meow!” Startled, Lin Sifei clamped her tail between her legs and let out a panicked cry.

Luo Ke placed her on the stove counter, holding her in place.

Lin Sifei, stomach growling, took advantage of the fact that Luo Ke couldn’t understand her and meowed furiously in protest.

After a moment, Luo Ke brought the bowl to her. Lin Sifei cautiously stuck out her tongue—the temperature was just right.

Luo Ke poured herself a glass as well. “So you’re not dumb, huh? You actually know it’s hot.”

Lin Sifei buried her face in the bowl. So she was just making sure I wouldn’t burn myself? Maybe this woman wasn’t so cold-hearted after all.

With her tiny appetite, Lin Sifei was full after drinking half a bowl. She lifted her head, and droplets of milk splashed onto her face.

She instinctively shook her head, forgetting that cat muzzles were pointy.

Bonk!

Her nose hit the rim of the bowl.

Losing balance, she stepped into the cat bowl, tripped, and knocked the entire thing over, spilling milk all over herself and the floor.

Luo Ke immediately took a step back, but some splashed onto her robe. She pressed her fingers against her brow and sighed before untying the towel on her head.

Her long black hair cascaded down, messy and damp over her shoulders.

Lin Sifei lay on the counter, staring at her delicate, downturned eyes.

So beautiful.

Luo Ke grabbed the towel and draped it over her. Before Lin Sifei could react, she was wrapped up and lifted off the counter.

Her eyes widened in shock, and she let out a startled hiccup.

Luo Ke carried the bundled-up kitten straight to the sink, turned on the faucet, unwrapped the towel, and dropped her into the water.

“Meow! Meow! Meow!” Lin Sifei flailed, paws scrambling at Luo Ke’s hand in terror. But cats couldn’t grip things, so her claws came out by reflex.

“Hiss—” Luo Ke sucked in a breath as she felt the scratch. Still, she held Lin Sifei firmly with one hand and scooped water with the other.

Lin Sifei curled up, hugging the fingers that supported her belly. She felt a bit more at ease. Realizing she might have just scratched her, she quickly tried to make amends—meowing sweetly and rubbing her face against Luo Ke’s wrist.

Luo Ke’s eyebrow twitched, her frown deepening.

Lin Sifei sighed internally. Yeah… she really doesn’t like cats.

As the warm water washed over her, she started to relax. After all the stress of the day, soaking in a hot bath was incredibly soothing—especially with someone massaging her.

Just as she was enjoying it, something suddenly felt off.

Where is this woman touching?!

Lin Sifei yowled in protest, kicking her legs and snapping out of her blissful state.

Luo Ke frowned, pinching her tail and rubbing the base of it. “A female cat?”

Lin Sifei lay limply in her hands, utterly resigned to fate.

Luo Ke’s fingers traced up, brushing over her belly.

Lin Sifei shuddered and immediately dove underwater with a distressed yowl. Stop touching me!

She barely lasted a second before Luo Ke fished her out.

Almost instinctively, the moment she surfaced, she shook her head violently—spraying water all over Luo Ke.

Lin Sifei froze, her neck stiff.

Cautiously, she peeked at Luo Ke, only to see her face darken.

Just as she was considering whether to act cute and beg for forgiveness, Luo Ke had already wrapped her in a towel, rubbed her down, then looked around and unceremoniously plopped her into the laundry basket.

Lin Sifei, bewildered, wriggled out of the towel, shook off some water, and clung to the basket’s edge with her paws, letting out a meek “Meow.”

She watched as Luo Ke pulled open the glass door of the bathroom.

Then—her bathrobe slipped off onto the floor.

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened.

She clapped her paws over her nose, her face turning bright red.

Scooting backward, she quickly buried herself in the towel.

BMQTVC Chapter 2

Lin Sifei woke up to the aroma of breakfast.

Last night, she had fallen asleep in the laundry basket, but this morning, she found herself curled up on the sofa with a towel covering her.

She pawed at the towel—so, the villain wasn’t that cold-hearted after all; they even covered her with a towel.

“Meow~” Lin Sifei eyed the height of the sofa. She was sure that if she jumped down, she’d break a bone, so she could only meow to announce her presence.

Hearing the sound, Luo Ke didn’t even lift her head and continued eating breakfast. A housekeeper wearing an apron walked over, placed a cat bowl on the ground, and then picked Lin Sifei up.

“Come on, Mimi, time for breakfast.”

Lin Sifei was full of question marks. Since when was she called Mimi? She tilted her head back and meowed, protesting the name.

“Drink up.” The housekeeper didn’t pick up on her feelings and pushed the bowl closer to her face.

With no other choice, Lin Sifei lowered her head and drank the milk.

The housekeeper smiled at Luo Ke. “Miss Luo, this little cat is so well-behaved. What’s its name?”

Lin Sifei breathed a sigh of relief. So, Mimi wasn’t her name.

Luo Ke wiped her mouth with a napkin. “No name. It’s a friend’s cat—I’ll be returning it today. Wu Ma, please make sure to clean up the cat hair later.”

“Yes, Miss Luo.” Wu Ma glanced at Lin Sifei with a hint of reluctance.

Lin Sifei was so shocked she stopped drinking. Wait, they had even taken a bath together—how could Luo Ke just disown her like that? She was so heartbroken she almost choked on the milk.

Before she could react, a shadow loomed over her. She looked up to see Luo Ke standing beside her with a cold expression.

Lin Sifei’s fur bristled immediately, turning her into a fluffy ball.

Luo Ke frowned and picked her up by the scruff of her neck. Lin Sifei let out a painful “meow,” her legs kicking wildly.

Luo Ke was startled and quickly placed her back on the sofa.

Lin Sifei whimpered, panting and motionless. Who said grabbing a cat by the scruff didn’t hurt? She almost died from the pain.

Luo Ke crossed her arms and frowned at her.

Wu Ma chuckled. “Miss Luo, you’ve never held a cat before, have you? She’s small—just let her lie in your arms.”

Wu Ma scooped up Lin Sifei and nestled her into Luo Ke’s arm.

The sudden lift off the ground frightened Lin Sifei, and her claws instinctively extended, digging through the fabric and into Luo Ke’s arm.

“Hiss—” Luo Ke drew in a sharp breath, her brows knitting together.

Lin Sifei’s tail trembled. She had just scratched her sponsor again—even though she was about to change sponsors soon.

“You’d better bring the carrier.”

Luo Ke placed Lin Sifei into a carrier and carried it out the door.

She wasn’t gentle at all, causing Lin Sifei to be tossed around inside. If not for her claws gripping onto the mesh, she would have been knocked silly.

“Meow!” Lin Sifei let out an angry cry at Luo Ke. Since she was about to change owners, there was no need to please this villain anymore.

Luo Ke’s footsteps paused for a moment, and then the carrier steadied.

Lin Sifei curled up inside, waiting to be delivered to Bai Xingrui’s home. According to the book, Bai Xingrui loved cats and owned several. Though she later went bankrupt due to the female lead, she still moved to a small town with her cats and opened a shop.

Luo Ke carried the carrier upstairs and rang the doorbell.

Bai Xingrui, her hair tousled, appeared at the door. When she saw Luo Ke, she immediately tried to shut the door, but Luo Ke—

Luo Ke braced her arm against the door and forcefully pushed it open.

She placed the carrier directly on the table, while Bai Xingrui pretended not to see it. With an awkward smile, she poured Luo Ke a glass of water. “Why are you here so early?”

“I've delivered the cat. Goodbye.” Luo Ke turned to leave.

“Hey, wait!” Bai Xingrui stopped her. “Just wait a sec—I need to take out the trash. Can you hold the door for me when I come back?”

“Don’t you have your keys?”

“Aiya, I don’t have any pockets, and I don’t want my keys touching the trash. It’ll just be a moment—help me out.”

Luo Ke sighed in resignation and sat on the sofa, pulling out her phone to check some documents. “Hurry up, I have to get to work.”

“Right, right, just a second.”

Lin Sifei crouched inside the carrier, watching her new owner dash out like the wind.

Not long after, Luo Ke’s phone vibrated with a notification. She opened it to see a voice message from Bai Xingrui.

As soon as she played it, Bai Xingrui’s gleeful laughter burst through. “Hahaha! Sorry, Luo Ke, I made a last-minute decision to go on a world tour, so I can’t take the cat. My bad~”

Luo Ke listened to the message with a cold expression and immediately called her back. “If you’re not coming back, what about all the cats you have?”

“Oh, I sent them to my parents ages ago. I told you—I’m going on a world tour.”

Luo Ke pursed her lips. No wonder she hadn’t heard any cat noises. “You don’t want this cat? Do you believe that I’ll leave it here to starve to death right now?”

“Go ahead, it’s not my cat anyway.”

Inside the carrier, Lin Sifei’s eyes widened in shock. Wasn’t this person a cat lover? How could she be so heartless?!

“My flight’s about to take off. You figure out what to do with the cat.”

Luo Ke took a deep breath as she stared at the ended call. Then, she turned to look at Lin Sifei in the carrier.

Lin Sifei’s fur stood on end. She immediately pressed her legs together, tilted her head slightly, and put on her cutest cat smile, desperately trying to win over her owner.

After a long stare, Luo Ke stood up and walked out the door.

No way—was she really going to leave her here to starve?!

Lin Sifei threw herself against the carrier door, meowing frantically. Don’t abandon her—she didn’t want to die!

As the security door slowly closed, Lin Sifei let out a desperate, wailing cry. She stared at the carrier lock and stretched out her paw, struggling to pry it open. The lock finally popped loose. She didn’t care about the height of the table and jumped down in a panic.

She crashed onto the floor, tumbled over, then quickly scrambled up and dashed toward the door.

With a loud thud, Lin Sifei felt like she had nearly broken her neck.

Lying on the ground, she looked up to see Luo Ke standing in the doorway, having just pulled the door open. Pain, grievance, and fear surged all at once, and her eyes instantly reddened. Tears began streaming down her face.

Luo Ke sighed, crouched down, and picked her up. She took out a handkerchief and gently dabbed at the corners of her eyes.

Lin Sifei was still trembling. After experiencing the brink of abandonment, she finally understood—she had to be extremely careful. A single decision from a human could mean the end of her life.

She sniffled and held back her tears, striking a cute pose for Luo Ke. She even thought about rubbing against her for affection but remembered that Luo Ke didn’t like it, so she stopped.

Luo Ke carried her back to the table, looked at the opened carrier door, and fiddled with it twice before latching it shut again. Then, holding the empty carrier in one hand and the cat in the other, she walked downstairs.

Re-entering the car, Luo Ke glanced at her watch. There was no time to take the cat home, so she had no choice but to drive straight to the company.

At the airport, Bai Xingrui watched a live feed on her phone. Seeing Luo Ke take the cat with her, she let out a sigh of relief and tapped on the figure on the screen. “So stubborn—clearly softhearted.”

As the airport announcement played, she smiled, put away her phone, and dragged her suitcase inside.

Lin Sifei was no longer in the carrier but sitting in the front passenger seat. Luo Ke’s driving skills were impeccable—the ride was smooth and steady.

After a while, boredom set in. Lin Sifei leaned against the window, pawing at the glass while watching the world outside.

Everything looked the same as her original world, except for the unfamiliar celebrities on the billboards.

She stared at the advertisements, then down at her cat paws. Was she really going to live the rest of her life as a cat? She had loved acting so much. Her manager must be devastated, and her fans—how heartbroken they must be.

With a sigh, she curled up in the seat. Right now, she was just a pet, dependent on others, living at their mercy.

While she was lost in her melancholy, Luo Ke had already parked the car.

She picked up Lin Sifei and carried her into the elevator. The employees inside smiled and nodded. “President Luo.”

Luo Ke gave a slight nod, pressed the floor button, and glanced at her watch.

Lin Sifei lay in the crook of her arm, curiously turning her head to look around. She noticed that people had formed a large empty space around Luo Ke, their expressions frozen in a mix of awkwardness and unease, as if they wished they could escape the elevator.

Lin Sifei sighed again—this must be the power of a villain’s presence.

She clung to Luo Ke’s arm and looked up at her cold, expressionless face. Another sigh. With that attitude, it was way too easy to offend people.

Just as she furrowed her little cat brows, her vision suddenly went black. A hand had covered her eyes and pressed her head back into Luo Ke’s shoulder.

Lin Sifei gave a small kick to Luo Ke’s arm but obediently stopped moving.

The elevator arrived at their floor, and Lin Sifei felt the subtle rise and fall of Luo Ke’s steps as they walked. Something was poking her back uncomfortably. She shifted her position and reached out with a paw to push against it.

The rough, textured surface under her paw startled her. Realizing what she had just touched, she yanked her paw back instantly, her face heating up.

Lin Sifei covered her face with her paws. Then, recalling what she had just touched, she quickly moved them away, her whole body practically steaming with embarrassment.

Luo Ke’s office was at the right end of the hallway, just past the secretary’s desk.

Seeing her approach, Assistant Zhao stood up and handed over a document. “President Luo, Chen Corporation just called. Their president has an urgent matter, so this morning’s meeting needs to be rescheduled. There are also adjustments to these other appointments…”

Luo Ke nodded and gave a few instructions. “Move the department meeting to this morning, especially the business discussion—have the department head focus on that report.”

“Understood, President Luo.”

Taking the documents, Luo Ke entered her office and set Lin Sifei down on the carpet before sitting at her desk to work.

Lin Sifei wandered around the office. Bored out of her mind, she yawned and curled up beside the sofa to nap.

By the time she woke up, it was already noon. She rubbed her eyes and looked around—there was no one in the office. Feeling a bit anxious, she circled the room before running to the door.

Luo Ke’s office had a heavy wooden door, and Lin Sifei…

Lin Sifei couldn't open the door with her own strength.

She raised her front paws and scratched at the door while meowing loudly.

Suddenly, the door swung open. Looking up, she saw Secretary Zhao standing outside. Lin Sifei immediately meowed even more enthusiastically.

“Oh? You’re awake.” Secretary Zhao bent down and picked her up. “President Luo is in a meeting.”

As she spoke, she placed a small piece of sliced apple into a bowl for her. Lin Sifei smacked her lips and sat obediently on the secretary’s desk, nibbling on the apple.

Seeing her behave so well, Secretary Zhao felt reassured and went back to her work.

Ring, ring, ring— The phone rang. It was a call from the meeting room requesting two additional sets of documents.

Secretary Zhao responded, “Understood, I’ll print them out and bring them over.”

Once the documents were ready, she picked them up and glanced at the cat sitting alone on the desk. “Oh no,” she muttered, “President Luo told me to take care of you—I can’t leave you here alone.”

Looking around, she saw that the other secretaries were busy. With no other choice, she scooped up the cat with one arm and grabbed the folder with the other before heading toward the office.

As she passed the elevator, the doors slid open, and a woman with a high ponytail stepped out. Her eyes lit up when she saw Secretary Zhao.

“Secretary Zhao, hello.”

Secretary Zhao gave a slight nod and continued walking.

The high ponytailed woman quickly caught up and glanced at the cat in her arms. “Are you heading to the meeting room too? Looks like we’re going the same way. Here, let me carry the documents for you.”

She reached out, but Secretary Zhao sidestepped slightly. “These are for President Luo—it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to take them.”

The woman’s smile stiffened for a moment, and she scratched her head. “I didn’t think about that. Then how about I carry the cat for you?”

“No need. You’re carrying documents too, and the cat isn’t heavy. We’ll just walk faster.”

Lin Sifei lifted her head, glancing at Secretary Zhao’s polite yet distant smile, then looked over at the high ponytailed woman. Did Secretary Zhao not like her?

She soon got her answer. After handing over the documents, Secretary Zhao rolled her eyes at the high ponytailed woman’s departing figure.

A man happened to catch this and gave her a knowing look.

Secretary Zhao scoffed and turned away. The man quickly caught up with her. “Zhao Min, don’t let your personal feelings show too much at work.”

“I just don’t like her. If it weren’t for the board members protecting her, do you think she’d have gotten into the company? Total nepotism.” She snorted, stroking Lin Sifei’s head.

“You know Yan Yafei has connections, yet you still provoke her? Just making trouble for yourself.” The man sighed. “Anyway, if this deal goes well, President Luo will definitely hand out bonuses. That should make you happy, right?”

“Assistant Lin, really? Is this deal that important?”

“Of course. Haven’t you noticed that President Luo is personally overseeing it?”

The two huddled together, excitedly discussing the size of the potential bonus—meanwhile, Lin Sifei was completely frozen in shock.

That high ponytailed woman… was the female lead?!

BMQTVC Chapter 3

Lin Sifei regretted it so much that she wished she could swallow her paws. She should have taken a closer look earlier—she didn’t even remember the face.

After a moment of beating her chest and stomping her feet, Lin Sifei realized that the big project Assistant Lin mentioned must be the one the female lead participated in according to the original novel. Later, the female lead lost the department's overnight-prepared proposal and presentation USB drive, completely ruining the project.

This failure caused the female lead’s position in the company to plummet. In the end, the first brother had to step in and take over the collaboration project to prevent the company from suffering major losses. However, the department’s employees harbored resentment against the female lead and continued to look down on her afterward.

Lin Sifei narrowed her eyes—she hadn’t expected the plot to unfold so quickly. With such a major mistake, firing the female lead would be justified. She had to seize this opportunity.

Rubbing her paws together, Lin Sifei could already imagine her life after kicking out the female lead—winning over the antagonist and living a life of luxury, where she only needed to stretch out her paw for anything she wanted.

“Assistant Lin, what’s wrong with President Luo’s cat? Could it be epilepsy?”

Lin Sifei froze mid-laugh and turned to glare at Xiao Zhao. You’re the one who’s sick! Can’t a cat be happy?

“She’s even glaring at me! It’s like she understands what we’re saying.” Xiao Zhao pointed excitedly at her.

Lin Sifei huffed, turned her back to them, and plopped down indignantly.

After lying down for a while, she couldn’t suppress the itch in her heart—she wanted to sneak another look at the female lead. According to the novel, the female lead was a kind-hearted girl. If she could get adopted by her, she’d have a life of comfort and wouldn’t even need to worry about her owner going bankrupt.

She glanced at Zhao Min, who was leaning over Assistant Lin’s desk, pointing at the screen and discussing something.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Sifei leaped off her spot and dashed toward the meeting room door, carefully hiding behind a potted plant.

Before long, the meeting room door opened, and Lin Sifei was surprised to see the female lead leaving already.

She narrowed her eyes and smiled. Heaven is on my side.

In the meeting room, Yan Yafei had just finished a simple report, but that Luo President kept throwing questions at her. The team hadn’t even prepared answers for those yet—how was she supposed to know?

“Meow~ Meow~”

A soft cat’s meow came from behind a potted plant. She looked over and saw a small cat raising its head, calling out to her with a fluffy and adorable expression.

“Isn’t this Zhao Min’s cat?” Yan Yafei walked over. The cat stretched out its paw toward her, but suddenly—she lifted her foot and kicked the cat over.

The cat’s meow was abruptly cut off as it rolled across the ground, looking up at her in stunned confusion.

"Pfft!" Yan Yafei snorted with laughter. "It’s just a secretary—who do they think they are?"

She lifted her foot, intending to kick the cat again, but it quickly darted into the gap between the potted plants. Clicking her tongue, Yan Yafei reached in to grab it.

Lin Sifei was utterly horrified. Why is the female lead so ruthless? How can you take out your frustrations on a cat?!

Unfortunately, the gaps between the plants weren’t big enough for her to squeeze through. Yan Yafei grabbed her hind leg, yanking her out and lifting her up.

“Meow!” Lin Sifei curled up her body and snapped her teeth toward Yan Yafei’s hand.

Yan Yafei quickly let go, but just as Lin Sifei tried to run, she was scooped up from behind.

"Trying to run?" Yan Yafei smiled sweetly—so sweet it was unsettling.

Bone-Chilling.

"Yan Yafei."

A cool voice rang out from behind.

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Lin Sifei nearly burst into tears on the spot. She kicked her legs and struggled hard to break free.

Luo Ke handed the folder in her hand to the secretary beside her and reached out a hand. "This is my cat. Can I have her back?"

Yan Yafei froze for a moment before puffing up her cheeks. "So this is President Luo's cat. She's really beautiful. I thought she was a stray and wanted to take her home."

"Then I must not be taking good enough care of her if she was mistaken for a stray."

"No, no, that's not what I meant."

"I know." Luo Ke took Lin Sifei back into her arms and stroked her fur, only to find her hand covered in dirt. She frowned.

Yan Yafei hurried to explain, "She ran behind the potted plant earlier, so she must have gotten dirty there."

Luo Ke gave a slight nod and left with the cat.

Lin Sifei clung to Luo Ke's arm in grievance, meowing loudly, cursing the female lead for her shamelessness. Her hind leg was still aching—wasn't the novel supposed to describe her as a kind girl? What part of this was kind?!

She meowed furiously, but to everyone else, it just sounded adorably cute.

Luo Ke scratched under her chin and walked over to the secretary's desk, tapping on the surface.

Zhao Min and Assistant Lin immediately stood up. "President Luo."

They both immediately noticed the cat in Luo Ke's arms. Zhao Min's face changed, and she pressed her lips together.

Luo Ke: "Have you decided on the punishment?"

Zhao Min looked utterly heartbroken. "I'll deduct this month's bonus."

"Be more careful next time," Luo Ke said before turning toward her office.

Lying on Luo Ke’s arm, Lin Sifei peeked at Zhao Min, who had her head lowered. She felt a little guilty—she just made someone lose their bonus.

As Luo Ke pulled open the office door, she turned her head back. "I'll give you a chance to make up for it. Come in."

Zhao Min’s eyes immediately lit up, and she quickly grabbed her tablet before following inside.

Lin Sifei looked up at Luo Ke’s expressionless face and curled her lips into a smile. Sticking with the villain is the best choice—so gentle.

With that thought, she buried her head into Luo Ke’s embrace.

Inside the office, Zhao Min stood nervously. "President Luo, what do you need me to do?"

Sitting in her chair, Luo Ke pointed at Lin Sifei, who was shaking out her fur. "How do I make her look less like a stray cat?"

Zhao Min shook her head vigorously. "President Luo's cat is so cute! How could she look like a stray?" Her survival instincts were strong.

After a second, she suddenly realized something. "Why don’t you give the cat a tag? You could engrave your name and phone number on it. That way, if she ever gets lost, people can return her to you."

Luo Ke nodded. "Good idea."

"I’ll get one made right away." She happily turned to leave but suddenly stopped and turned back. "President Luo, what’s the cat’s name?"

Luo Ke frowned. "She doesn't have one."

Zhao Min's mouth twitched slightly, and she stiffly nodded. "Alright, then I'll just engrave your surname."

She worked quickly, and by the afternoon, the cat tag was ready—a red collar with a gold-plated tag, featuring a huge "Luo" character on the front and a phone number on the back.

Lin Sifei looked at the tacky cat tag, and her expression cracked. There’s no way I’m wearing something this ugly! Absolutely not!

Then she was promptly pressed onto the desk and forcefully fitted with the collar.

Kicking her legs and hurling silent profanities, Lin Sifei felt Luo Ke pinch the back of her neck, a hand pressing against her nose. "Are you cursing me?"

Lin Sifei instantly shut her mouth, nervously sticking out her tongue to lick her lips.

Luo Ke released her hand, and Lin Sifei immediately ran off to the side, shaking her head and neck so hard that she practically performed a lion dance.

After struggling for a while, the collar didn’t loosen one bit. Completely defeated, she flopped onto the desk in exhaustion.

Luo Ke, satisfied, withdrew her gaze and resumed typing on her keyboard.

Feeling bored, Lin Sifei started meowing incessantly, dedicated to disrupting her work. Luo Ke glanced up at her before rummaging in a drawer and handing her a pen to play with.

Lin Sifei toyed with the pen for a bit, then climbed onto the keyboard and placed a paw on it.

No reaction.

She crawled forward a little—still no reaction.

She went even further, covering most of the keyboard. Finally, Luo Ke moved and lifted her to the side.

Lin Sifei narrowed her eyes and stretched out her paws, wrapping them around Luo Ke’s hand and rubbing her head against it.

Luo Ke instantly withdrew her hand.

Lin Sifei chuckled. Her tolerance level is pretty high. Aside from refusing to let her rub against her, she wasn’t actually getting mad, even with that cold face.

Having figured out Luo Ke’s true nature, Lin Sifei became even more fearless, happily prancing around on the desk.

Looks like winning over Luo Ke is only a matter of time. Soon, I’ll be a rich cat.

BMQTVC Chapter 4

Lin Sifei took another nap in the office, and by the time she woke up again, the sun had already set.

She yawned, raised her paw to rub her eyes, and turned her head to see Luo Ke packing up. She meowed at her.

Luo Ke took her home and was startled the moment she opened the door—there were piles of delivery boxes stacked in the living room.

Hearing the noise, Aunt Wu came out of the kitchen. "Miss Luo, you're back early today."

"What are these packages?"

"Miss Bai sent them over. She said they're for the cat."

Luo Ke frowned, grabbed a utility knife, and started opening the packages one by one.

A cat bed, cat litter, scratching board, catnip, a cat tree... everything a cat could possibly need, an endless array.

Luo Ke shook out her sore hands and tossed the utility knife back into the drawer. She picked up Lin Sifei and placed her into the cat bed.

Lin Sifei’s head thudded against the sides of the bed. She stretched out her paw and patted Luo Ke’s hand.

Luo Ke leaned on the cat bed, poking at her.

Lin Sifei was used to sleeping on her big bed—how could she possibly be satisfied with this tiny cat bed? She immediately tried to climb out.

Luo Ke put her back in twice, then finally gave up and stood up. "Looks like she doesn't like it."

Lin Sifei let out a few disgruntled noises and started climbing onto the sofa instead—it was just the right size for her.

Luo Ke shook her head helplessly. "Aunt Wu, take the cat bed away tomorrow."

"Alright."

Among all the gifts, Lin Sifei liked the cat tree the most. It was perfect for training her climbing and jumping skills—so that next time she encountered someone like the female lead, she’d have a way to escape.

Thinking about the female lead, she angrily extended her claws. She had felt a bit guilty about firing her before, but not anymore. If she had made an enemy of her, then she wouldn’t hold back either.

She let out a cold chuckle, revealing her tiny sharp teeth—only to have a pacifier suddenly stuffed into her mouth. She blinked in confusion.

Luo Ke, looking satisfied, held the pacifier. "This is more convenient. It won’t dirty your fur."

Lin Sifei furrowed her brows and spat out the pacifier—successfully dirtying both her fur and the sofa.

Luo Ke’s face darkened as she set down the bottle. "Aunt Wu, clean up the sofa."

Lin Sifei huffed smugly. She refused to drink from a bottle.

That night, Lin Sifei curled up on the sofa, rolling over and over, but she still couldn’t sleep.

She had slept too much during the day and was now completely awake.

She sighed, jumped down from the sofa, wandered around the living room, glanced upstairs, and then started climbing the stairs.

After a long and arduous journey, Lin Sifei finally made it to the top.

There were many rooms on the second floor, all with closed doors. She had no idea which one was Luo Ke’s bedroom.

She paced around once before returning to the top of the staircase. Looking at the steep stairs, she swallowed nervously. She had the courage to go up, but not to go down—so she might as well stay upstairs.

She remembered seeing videos where other cats could jump up and grab door handles.

She took a few steps back, then leaped forward, aiming for the door handle—

Bang!

Her forehead smacked right into the door.

She tumbled to the ground, dazed, lying on her back without moving.

Inside the room, Luo Ke was reviewing information about Bayerlo Corporation on her laptop. This cooperation was a crucial stepping stone for the company’s growth—she had to take it seriously.

Suddenly, a dull thud broke the silence in the room.

She frowned, put down her laptop, and lifted her pillow, revealing a dagger underneath. Carefully, she walked to the door, pressed her ear against it to listen, then yanked it open.

"Meow~"

A soft cat’s meow sounded, and a tiny cat head peeked inside.

Luo Ke looked at her.

“Oh, it’s you.” She put away the dagger and reached out to pick her up.

Lin Sifei was stiff as she was placed on the table, her eyes still locked on the dagger.

Following her gaze, Luo Ke looked at the dagger, then tucked it back under the pillow.

Lin Sifei frowned. She didn’t remember any particularly dangerous plotlines in the original book, so why was Luo Ke sleeping with a weapon prepared?

She nervously shuffled her paws, feeling like she had suddenly switched genres—from a romantic Mary Sue drama straight into a crime thriller.

Lin Sifei shook out her feet and jumped onto the table. She curled up at the head of the bed, her round eyes watching Luo Ke. “Meow~”

Luo Ke sighed, rubbing her temples helplessly. She lifted the blanket and lay down, while Lin Sifei nestled beside her pillow.

Closing her eyes, Luo Ke surprisingly didn’t suffer from insomnia for once—she quickly drifted into deep sleep.

Lin Sifei watched as her face gradually relaxed, her furrowed brows smoothing out. She reached out her paw and gently placed it on Luo Ke’s forehead. So she was always tense while awake—she must be exhausted.

As the youngest winner of the three major acting awards, Lin Sifei held a high status in the entertainment industry. Even though she had a strained relationship with her family, she was still a rich second-generation heir, and no one dared to cross her. She had always been outspoken, never holding back, and had verbally sparred with almost everyone in showbiz.

Lin Sifei sighed. Was this why fate had reincarnated her as a cat? To keep the villain company?

She remembered that in the original story, Luo Ke’s cat was quite aloof. Owning a cat but not being able to pet it—how miserable was that?

“Meow meow meow meow—” Don’t worry, I’ll let you pet me.

Lin Sifei curled up, hugging her tail, and fell asleep as well.

·

Luo Ke sank into a dream. It felt like she was floating on the water, surrounded by icy waves. She stared up at the gray sky, waiting for herself to wake up.

Suddenly, something warm pressed against her forehead. Her eyes widened in surprise, and the cold water receded, leaving behind a hazy white expanse.

“I’ll give you—”

“—”

“What?” She couldn’t hear what the person was saying and instinctively tilted her head toward the voice.

“Luo Ke is crazy!”

“Luo Ke, you idiot!”

“Cold-blooded and heartless! Your father—”

“Just you wait!”

The furious shouts rattled her eardrums painfully. She clutched her ears, sucking in a sharp breath.

Who was cursing her? She didn’t recognize that voice.

Rubbing her ears, she sat still for a while, calming herself. It could be an employee from the company, or maybe a rival business—there were plenty of people who didn’t like her.

“You big idiot who doesn’t know how to take care of a cat.”

Luo Ke pressed her fingers against her forehead. Alright, that narrowed it down.

“But damn, what a great body~”

Luo Ke’s face darkened. A voyeur? A hidden camera?

“Sweet dreams.”

Her chest heaved in anger. Who the hell could insult her, spy on her, and then wish her sweet dreams?!

Fuming, she abruptly opened her eyes. Morning sunlight peeked through the curtains. Luo Ke looked down, searching for the cause of the pressure on her chest. The cat was sprawled across it, sleeping soundly.

Carefully, Luo Ke lifted the blanket and gently moved Lin Sifei to the side. She stepped barefoot onto the floor, walked to the window, and pulled open the curtains, staring blankly at the blinding sunlight outside.

It had been a long time since she had slept through the night. She was always waking up in the early hours, her nightmares clinging to her like a curse.

Her phone vibrated on the bedside table. She answered—it was Assistant Lin.

“President Luo, is everything alright? You didn’t come to work today.”

Luo Ke was taken aback. She glanced at her phone screen and saw—

Sifei felt sluggish, stretching her limbs lazily. She lay on the couch, staring blankly at the ceiling. Without a phone, what joy was left in life?

Rolling onto her back, she gazed into the air, letting her thoughts drift. As they wandered, she recalled the inconsistencies with the female lead and Luo Ke’s dagger from last night.

Resting her chin on her paws, she pondered. It seemed that the events and characters in this world didn’t entirely follow the original book’s plot. That meant this world wasn’t strictly bound by its original storyline. If that was the case, then keeping Luo Ke away from the female lead should be possible.

In the novel, the female lead wasn’t qualified to participate in this project proposal, but she was added at the insistence of a higher-up. Based on what Xiao Zhao mentioned about a certain board member, it was likely the same person. This board member was a problem—how much influence did they have? If they spoke up, the female lead might still be able to stay.

Letting out a loud "meow," Sifei kicked her legs in frustration. Being a cat was so limiting—she had no information and had to rely entirely on guesswork.

With a sigh, she hopped off the couch, and her eyes landed on the pile of unpacked delivery boxes nearby. A sudden urge to dive in surged through her.

Glancing left and right, she saw that Wu Ma was in the dining area, absorbed in her phone. Quietly, Sifei tiptoed into one of the cardboard boxes. She wiggled her paws and rolled around inside, feeling an indescribable joy.

After tumbling around for a while, she climbed the cat tower, chased a ball of yarn, and practiced her agility—determined to train herself into a swift and nimble feline.

Alternating between exercise and rest, Sifei drew on the discipline she had developed from martial arts training during her acting career, sticking to a strict schedule.

By noon, the housekeeper had prepared another bowl of goat’s milk for her, along with some fruit.

Sifei smacked her lips, feeling full and satisfied.

Suddenly, her ears twitched at the sound of the garage door opening. She leaped off the couch and wagged her tail as she ran to the door, waiting eagerly.

As soon as the door opened, she tilted her head and raised a paw. “Meow~”

Luo Ke changed her shoes and glanced at her. “Don’t cats not wag their tails?”

Sifei’s tail stiffened instantly, standing up straight like a rigid telephone pole.

Luo Ke frowned and bent down to look at her closely. “Why do I feel like you can understand me?”

Sifei’s heart pounded in fear. She quickly licked her lips and hopped around Luo Ke’s high heels, acting playful. No, no, she couldn’t understand a thing—she was just a little cat.

Finally, she heard Luo Ke sigh. “What’s going on in that little head of yours? You must be crazy.”

Luo Ke gave a slight nod to Wu Ma. The housekeeper untied her apron and said, “The food is all prepared, and I already fed the cat. I’ll be heading out now.”

“Alright.”

Sifei watched as Luo Ke sat alone at the dining table, the only sound in the room being the occasional clinking of dishes.

Her ears twitched—it was too quiet, a little suffocating even. She meowed softly and pushed a ball of yarn over, circling around Luo Ke’s feet.

Luo Ke continued eating, occasionally glancing at Sifei as she pounced and bit at the yarn ball.

Sifei peeked at her and caught a faint smile at the corner of Luo Ke’s lips. She froze mid-play, momentarily stunned. In that instant, the yarn ball rolled away, and she pounced forward but missed, landing face-first on the floor.

“Pfft, stupid cat.”

Sifei rubbed her chin and meowed back at her: You’re the idiot!

After finishing her meal and tidying up the dishes, Luo Ke’s phone chimed with a notification.

She dried her hands and picked up her phone—it was a message from Bai Xingrui.

[Bai Xingrui: So? Is the kitty cute?]

[Luo Ke: Annoying as hell. Come take it back.]

[Bai Xingrui: No way! Have you given it a name yet?]

Luo Ke glanced at the cat sitting on the chair. A name? She hadn’t thought about that at all.

[Luo Ke: Annoying.]

[Bai Xingrui: Come on, pick a proper name!]

Luo Ke turned her head to see the cat rolling around with the yarn ball, recalling that Xiao Zhao had asked the same question before. A name, huh—

After a while, she picked up her phone and typed two characters.

[Xiao Xiao.]

Bai Xingrui responded instantly, complaining, [That name is so lazy!]

Ignoring her, Luo Ke slipped her phone into her pocket and bent down, scooping up the cat with both hands.

Sifei stared at her in confusion.

“Xiao Xiao.” Luo Ke smiled, holding her close and stroking her fur. “That’ll be your name.”

Sifei’s eyes widened as she looked up at her smiling face, her little cheeks heating up. Who’s Xiao Xiao?! I hate it!

BMQTVC Chapter 5

In the afternoon, Lin Sifei was once again carried out by Luo Ke and driven to a golf course in the suburbs.

Upon arrival, Lin Sifei walked gracefully, sticking closely to Luo Ke’s leg. The place was quite large, and it would be troublesome if she got lost.

"President Chen."

"President Luo, you're here."

Lin Sifei looked up and saw a refined man wearing glasses, smiling as he shook hands with Luo Ke. Beside him stood a young girl.

"This is my daughter, Chen Mingsi. Come on, Sisi, say hello to Sister Luo Ke."

The little girl wore a pink dress and smiled sweetly, revealing her teeth. "Hello, Sister Luo Ke."

"Hello." Luo Ke nodded slightly. "President Chen, our recent collaboration went quite well. It’s definitely worth continuing."

"Ah—" President Chen waved his hand. "Let’s not jump straight into business. Play a round of golf with me and relax."

"Alright."

Lin Sifei meowed twice, but Luo Ke had already forgotten about her.

President Chen heard the sound and finally noticed her, smiling. "Is this your cat? So cute."

"Do you have a cat too, President Chen?"

"Yes, my wife and daughter love them. We have both a dog and a cat at home." He pointed at his daughter. "My daughter will keep your cat company while we play a round."

Luo Ke looked at Lin Sifei with concern, not entirely trusting a child.

Chen Mingsi noticed her doubtful gaze and puffed up with indignation. "Don’t worry! I take care of our cat at home all the time. I probably know more about cats than you do."

President Chen shot his daughter a look. "Mind your manners."

"It’s fine. President Chen’s daughter looks like she has a bright future ahead."

Lin Sifei watched as the two exchanged business pleasantries before putting on sun hats and heading to play golf. She jumped onto a chair and yawned. Having missed her nap that morning, she was feeling sleepy now.

Just as she closed her eyes, she felt a shift in the wind and instinctively opened them. She saw Chen Mingsi standing in front of her. Yawning again, Lin Sifei turned her back on her, using body language to refuse any interaction.

"Kitty, kitty, don’t sleep! I’m so bored by myself."

Lin Sifei was annoyed by the noise and hissed at her.

Chen Mingsi wasn’t scared at all. She just laughed and pulled out a small cookie from her bag. "Do you want this? Cats can eat it too!"

Lin Sifei twitched her nose. Ever since she arrived in this world, she had mostly been drinking goat milk and eating fruit. Seeing the cookie, she was a little tempted.

Noticing that Lin Sifei hadn’t closed her eyes again, Chen Mingsi cleverly broke off a piece and lightly touched it to her mouth. "You’ve been touched by it, so you have to eat it now!"

Lin Sifei opened her mouth, bit the cookie, and jumped onto the table, crunching away happily.

Chen Mingsi shared the bag of cookies with her and then pulled out a handheld game console to play.

As Lin Sifei munched on her snack, she watched Chen Mingsi play. Her terrible skills were unbearable to watch, and Lin Sifei meowed in frustration, trying to give her instructions, but Chen Mingsi couldn’t understand.

On the screen, the opposing team had already started mocking them. Some words had been censored, but their meaning was clear.

Lin Sifei couldn’t tolerate it anymore. She jumped onto Chen Mingsi’s shoulder and swiped at the screen with her paw. Surprised, Chen Mingsi looked at her. Lin Sifei shoved her head aside and started rapidly tapping the screen with her paw, quickly eliminating two enemies.

Chen Mingsi cheered with excitement and immediately started maneuvering her character.

Their teamwork was flawless. Before long, they had the enemy team running for their lives, and their own teammates' morale soared.

This game turned into a comeback victory.

Chen Mingsi happily rubbed Lin Sifei’s head. “You’re amazing!”

Lin Sifei lifted her chin proudly. Of course she was. Back in the day, she had been a pro at gaming, even carrying her fans to victory—though she got scolded by her manager the next day and was told to keep her distance from them.

Thinking about the past, she felt a little melancholic and jumped back onto the table to continue eating cookies.

After resting for a while, Chen Mingsi started another match, and Lin Sifei continued to help her. The two went on a rampage, dominating the game with ease.

“Wait, let me change my name.” After a match ended, Lin Sifei watched as the little girl typed a long, cringeworthy username into the ID field.

The sheer embarrassment made Lin Sifei’s claws extend, and her entire body puffed up like a furball.

Chen Mingsi, however, was very pleased and happily re-entered the game. “Sigh, if only I could change my real name this easily. My name is so old-fashioned! I’ve told my dad several times that I want to change it, but he refuses. My mom was okay with it at first, but when she found out what name I wanted, she changed her mind too.”

“Meow?” Kid, what kind of horrifying name are you trying to use?

“I want to be called Yue Binglian.”

Lin Sifei... Your parents are absolutely right!

Cringing at the overly dramatic name, Lin Sifei suddenly froze. That name sounded familiar.

She tilted her head in thought. Wait a minute—wasn’t the female lead’s adopted sister later in the novel called Su Binglian? And wasn’t she a rich second-generation heiress? When the female lead got attacked in the entertainment industry, this wealthy lady strongly supported her, helping defuse several public controversies.

Lin Sifei’s expression became complicated as she looked at the fair-skinned, extremely dramatic child beside her. She nodded silently—yes, this was definitely the target audience for a Mary Sue novel.

“Ah, I died,” Chen Mingsi pouted. “Kitty, why didn’t you help me?”

Right now, Lin Sifei was more interested in finding out whether Chen Mingsi’s mother’s surname was Su. She once again cursed her cat body—she couldn’t even ask.

Chen Mingsi started another game, and Lin Sifei absentmindedly assisted her. Fortunately, there were no skilled opponents in this round, making it an easy win.

“Sisi, what are you doing?”

“I’m playing games with the kitty,” Chen Mingsi blurted out.

Lin Sifei’s paw stiffened, and she turned to see Luo Ke frowning slightly at her. She smacked Chen Mingsi’s mouth with her paw. That’s what you get for talking too much!

Cat paws are soft and don’t hurt, so Chen Mingsi didn’t even notice. Instead, she proudly boasted, “Sister Luo Ke, your cat is amazing! I won several matches thanks to her.”

President Chen looked at Lin Sifei in surprise. “A cat can play games?”

Luo Ke uncrossed her arms, walked over, and picked up Lin Sifei. “She was probably just randomly tapping. But cats have much better eyesight than humans, so it might make them seem more skilled.”

Chen Mingsi nodded repeatedly, extremely excited. “I’ll get my cat to play with me when I get home!”

Lin Sifei’s fur slowly smoothed down. Phew, that was close.

Because of their shared gaming experience, Chen Mingsi’s fondness for Lin Sifei skyrocketed, and even her attitude toward Luo Ke improved.

“Sister Luo Ke, what’s your cat’s name?”

“Xiaoxiao.”

“As in ‘small’?” She giggled. “That’s so cute!”

She then pulled out her phone. “Sister Luo Ke, do you have a Weibo account or Feixin? Add me! That way, I can see pictures of Xiaoxiao when you post them.”

“I don’t take photos.”

Chen Mingsi, disappointed, put her phone away, but she quickly cheered up again. “There’s no cat owner who doesn’t take photos! Just add me first—you’ll start taking pictures eventually.”

“You’re being rude,” President Chen scolded her, giving her a light tap on the back of the head. Chen Mingsi stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

Not wanting to create family conflict, Luo Ke gave her Feixin account. “I don’t have Weibo, and my Moments are mostly business-related. You can check them out and maybe learn something.”

“Okay, okay!” Chen Mingsi spun around excitedly.

“Well, I’ll be going now. Goodbye, President Chen.”

“Goodbye, goodbye.”

Luo Ke carried Lin Sifei to the car and drove home in silence.

Sensing that something was off, Lin Sifei curled up anxiously. Oh no, this expression on Luo Ke’s face… Is she starting to suspect me?

Gaming has ruined me!

BMQTVC Chapter 6

Lin Sifei kept glancing at Luo Ke along the way, comforting herself that no normal person would suspect a cat wasn't actually a cat. They'd just think it was a coincidence.

That confidence completely vanished when she was thrown onto the sofa.

Luo Ke stared at her intently. "You're not a cat, are you? A demon? Change into a human and show yourself. You were the one talking in my dream, right? If you're going to insult me, do it face to face instead of sneaking around."

Lin Sifei looked at her with big, innocent eyes and tilted her head cutely. What are you saying? I don't understand.

Luo Ke pressed her hand against her lips and took a deep breath. "Stop pretending."

"Uh... um... Miss Luo."

Luo Ke turned around abruptly and saw Aunt Wu looking at her in shock. "Miss Luo, are you okay?"

Luo Ke clenched her fist tightly, closed her eyes for a moment, and turned away. "I'm fine."

Aunt Wu responded with an "Oh," took off her apron, and said, "Dinner is ready, so I'll be heading home now."

At the door, she looked back and added, "You young people are under a lot of pressure these days. Money is important, but your health is even more important."

"I understand." Luo Ke rubbed her forehead.

After Aunt Wu left, Luo Ke calmed down a little. She leaned closer to Lin Sifei. "Are you really a cat?"

Lin Sifei played dumb to the end. "Meow~"

Luo Ke sighed helplessly, lowered her head, and walked to the dining table. She took a bottle of goat milk and handed it to Lin Sifei before sitting down to eat alone.

Lin Sifei peeked at her and let out a breath of relief, retreating to drink her milk. She had considered confessing to Luo Ke, but in her current state, there was no way she would accept it.

She licked the corner of her lips. Why did Luo Ke even suspect her? Normal people wouldn't think like that.

Could she really be sick? Lin Sifei frowned, secretly glancing at her. In the original book, the villainess was quite cynical.

She sighed. Right now, she needed to dispel Luo Ke’s doubts first.

After finishing the milk, Lin Sifei continued playing with the yarn ball, running to Luo Ke's feet and meowing at her.

Luo Ke nudged the yarn ball with the tip of her foot, and Lin Sifei immediately bounced after it. She chased it for a while before pouncing at the air and rolling under the chair.

Watching her movements, Luo Ke saw nothing unusual—just an ordinary cat. Maybe she had overthought it?

She massaged her temples and went upstairs.

Lin Sifei, knowing the importance of clinging to a powerful ally, struggled to climb the stairs and followed her to the study, determined to be a well-behaved, gentle, and quietly supportive "white lotus" cat.

Luo Ke sat at her desk, fingers tapping on the keyboard.

Lin Sifei clung to the chair leg, trying to climb up. But for every step she managed, she slid down three times. After struggling for a long while, her back legs hadn’t even left the ground.

A sigh echoed through the room. Luo Ke grabbed her by the belly and lifted her onto the chair.

Lin Sifei curled up obediently, resting her head on her hind legs while watching Luo Ke work.

Luo Ke never glanced at her again, completely focused on her tasks.

Lin Sifei licked her lips. A serious woman is really beautiful.

Kittens sleep a lot, and since Lin Sifei hadn’t napped all day, she was exhausted. Her head started nodding after a short while.

Her eyelids drooped lower and lower until sleepiness completely took over, and she slumped over on the chair.

After finishing her last email, Luo Ke stretched her neck and glanced at the little cat beside her, silently watching for a moment.

Son.

Suspecting a cat of being a demon was truly absurd. She thought so too. But for some reason, every little movement of the kitten made her feel like it really understood human speech. Especially the voice in her dream—she had checked her room and found no hidden cameras, and there were no suspicious people around the house.

She pressed the bridge of her nose and stood up. Maybe she was just too tired lately, thinking about things during the day and dreaming about them at night.

She stood up, bent over, and picked up the sleeping kitten from the chair.

The little one rolled over in her palm and stretched lazily.

Lin Sifei opened her eyes to see a bouncing chest and a face with makeup. Still groggy from sleep, she forgot she was supposed to be a cat. Seeing the giant human so close, she let out a startled "meow," her fur standing on end. Her body twisted, and with a loud "plop," she fell to the ground.

A sharp pain shot through her front leg, and she yowled, "Aowww!"

Luo Ke was shocked. She knelt on the floor, hesitating to touch her.

Lin Sifei held one paw with the other. It hurt so much!

Luo Ke immediately called the hospital, and in the middle of the night, they took a pet stretcher to get her treated.

Lin Sifei looked at the cast on her leg and waved it angrily.

"Meow-aow~" She pounced on Luo Ke. This was all her fault! If she hadn’t scared her, she wouldn’t have broken her leg.

Luo Ke, exhausted from the day, endured the little one's paw thumping against her. She picked her up and placed her beside the pillow. "Go to sleep."

"Meow!" Lin Sifei kept grumbling.

After a long, tiring day, Luo Ke was too exhausted to care. Ignoring the complaints, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Seeing her unresponsive, Lin Sifei pounced forward and gently bit the tip of her nose before curling up beside the pillow to sleep.

In her dreams, Luo Ke once again fell into the strange dreamscape. Lying in a misty void, she heard the same voice that had cursed at her before—still here to scold her.

"You can't even hold a cat properly? Pay more attention!"

"Do you know how painful a fracture is? Believe it or not, I’ll break your hand too!"

"You're not gentle at all! Being your cat is pure suffering."

Luo Ke's temple twitched with irritation. "How was I supposed to know she’d fall? And what are the odds she’d break a bone from such a short drop? I was bending over—she wasn’t even that high off the ground."

"You’re still making excuses? I have a broken leg!"

Luo Ke's pupils shrank. She turned around, and as the white mist cleared slightly, she saw a high nightstand. On top of it, the little one sat with her cast-wrapped paw waving in protest.

"You don’t feel bad for me at all? I'm your cat!"

Luo Ke’s heart skipped two beats—her cat...

She strode toward her. Somehow, the fact that the cat was talking didn’t seem like a big deal anymore.

Lin Sifei panicked, backing away on her injured leg. "What are you doing?! What are you doing?! Don’t hit—wait, no, don’t hit the face!"

Luo Ke raised her hand, and Lin Sifei panicked even more, her eyes brimming with tears. "Can’t you just not hit me? It’s not like I wanted to be a cat!"

Luo Ke lifted her paw gently. "Does it hurt a lot?"

Lin Sifei’s eyes welled up as she stretched out the word, "Yes—"

Luo Ke lowered her head and softly blew on her paw. "A little blow, and it won’t hurt anymore."

She leaned in close, her eyelashes casting delicate shadows on Lin Sifei’s face. Lin Sifei stared at her, her nose tingling. She couldn't hold back her tears, and they started to fall.

"Can’t you just take good care of me? I’ve been trying so hard to act cute, trying so hard to be a cat," she sobbed, her face—

Luo Ke hurriedly wiped away her tears. “I’m trying my best to take care of you too.”

“Then why did you scare me?”

“I didn’t scare you.”

Lin Sifei pouted. “You pointed at me and called me a demon. Are you planning to burn me at the stake or dissect me for research?”

Luo Ke shook her head helplessly. “What are you thinking? I just thought you seemed like a person.”

Lin Sifei’s eyes darted around nervously. “I-I’m really not human.”

“Then how can you speak human language?” Luo Ke scratched under her chin.

“Actually, I’m a Flerken!”

“What’s that?” Luo Ke frowned in confusion.

Lin Sifei stared at her in surprise. Did this world not have that concept? She grinned, baring her tiny teeth. “An alien creature.”

Luo Ke could tell she was making things up, but looking at her soft, fluffy fur, she just sighed and ruffled her head. “Alright, alien cat.”

The white mist slowly engulfed them again. When Luo Ke opened her eyes, the sky outside was still dim. She turned to the little one beside her. Lin Sifei was fast asleep, her tiny mouth opening and closing, letting out soft, murmuring sounds.

Luo Ke chuckled. Still scolding her even in her sleep.

She soon drifted off again.

The next morning, Lin Sifei woke up with last night’s strange dream still lingering in her mind. Hahaha, Luo Ke actually believed she was a Flerken!

She was still laughing to herself when Luo Ke walked out of the bathroom, her freshly washed hair dripping over her shoulders, soaking the sheer white nightgown clinging to her body, revealing a hint of soft pink underneath.

Lin Sifei blinked, then quickly turned her head like a proper lady, smacking her lips.

Luo Ke grabbed a dry towel and walked over, drying her hair. “Our little alien cat is awake?”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened in shock, her little heart trembling. Wait, what?! Wasn’t that just a dream? How did Luo Ke know what she said in the dream?

Seeing her frozen, Luo Ke reached out and poked her forehead. “Why aren’t you talking?”

Lin Sifei swallowed nervously. “Meow~”

Luo Ke frowned. “Why are you pretending to be a cat again? Weren’t you talking just fine last night?”

“Meow!” She was really just a normal cat! Otherwise, why would she be meowing?

“…Are you cursing at me again?!” Luo Ke narrowed her eyes and pinched her little head between two fingers.

Lin Sifei, used to grumbling under her breath, licked her lips and let out a soft, pitiful “meow.”

Luo Ke frowned at her reaction, mumbling to herself, “She really doesn’t talk… Was it really just a dream last night?”

She furrowed her brows in doubt and turned on the hairdryer to dry her hair.

Lin Sifei let out a long sigh of relief upon hearing that. Looks like she needed to be careful even in her dreams—Luo Ke was somehow connected to them. How strange.

Then she proudly swayed her head. Last night, Luo Ke had practically confessed her feelings. She was clearly falling for her adorable charm. From now on, she was the real mastermind behind the scenes.

She didn’t notice that as she sighed in relief, Luo Ke—standing in front of the dresser—lifted her eyes. The television screen reflected the little cat behind her.

Sighing in relief?

So it wasn’t a dream after all.

Flerken?

Interesting.

BMQTVC Chapter 7

Luo Ke had a simple breakfast and took Lin Sifei to work.

Upon arriving at the company, the employees looked terrified when they saw the cast on Lin Sifei's hand.

Luo Ke greeted everyone as usual and walked into her office. Zhao Min came in to report the day's schedule and handed over a batch of documents.

Lin Sifei watched her work, while a cat idly pawed at a fortune plant in front of it.

Luo Ke glanced at the nearly bald potted plant and nudged the cat’s paw away.

Lin Sifei, already aware of Luo Ke’s kindness, was no longer afraid of her. She immediately opened her mouth and let out a fierce "meow," trying to sound as fierce as possible.

Luo Ke helplessly flicked her forehead. "Don’t go overboard."

Lin Sifei hugged Luo Ke’s hand and bit down. That’s what you get for flicking me!

After playing around for a while, Lin Sifei collapsed onto the desk in exhaustion. Seeing this, Luo Ke continued handling her documents. Lin Sifei, bored, moved closer to the computer screen and looked at the files.

Luo Ke pushed her head away, but Lin Sifei dodged and kept moving forward.

Luo Ke sighed helplessly, took out a tablet from the drawer, and said, "Watch this."

She searched for "Tom and Jerry," propped up the tablet on a stand, and placed it in front of Lin Sifei.

Lin Sifei rolled her eyes, carefully adjusted the tablet to an angle where Luo Ke couldn’t see, exited "Tom and Jerry," and opened a browser to search for the female lead’s Weibo account.

She remembered that in the novel, when the female lead debuted, this account was frequently mentioned. It contained a lot of positive content and daily life updates, attracting a decent following. The entertainment company even used it for marketing, which proved to be effective in gaining fans.

Lin Sifei typed in the account name, and sure enough, it appeared in the search results. She immediately entered the homepage and saw that the latest post was a melancholic complaint about making too many mistakes at work. The comments were filled with comforting words.

Lin Sifei browsed through the posts and found a selfie from when the female lead had just joined the company.

Resting her cast-covered paw, Lin Sifei mused that the female lead was already being alienated at work. The upcoming major blunder must be a tipping point.

Looking at the account’s posts, if she hadn’t met the female lead in person, Lin Sifei might have naively thought she was just a clumsy but lovable woman. However, after being kicked last time, she had seen through the female lead’s true nature. This woman was probably a "white lotus" in disguise.

Lin Sifei clicked her tongue. Judging by the female lead’s tactics, her own "white lotus cat" skills were clearly not at the same level.

After closing the webpage, Lin Sifei didn’t forget to erase the browsing history. She needed to know how much time was left before the contract negotiation with the collaborating company.

She glanced at Luo Ke, who was busy working. Carefully, she lowered her body, raised her tail, and pounced onto the desk, staring at the screen. A bunch of emails. However, companies that hadn’t collaborated yet wouldn’t be sending emails.

Luo Ke picked her up. "Don’t be naughty, behave yourself."

Lin Sifei glared at her. "Meow!" I’m saving you, hmph!

She was placed back to the side but continued peering at the emails, trying to recall the collaborating company's name from the novel. It was a foreign company… Bai? Bai something?

"President Luo, Bayerlo Company is calling." Zhao pushed open the door.

Lin Sifei slapped the desk with a paw—yes, it was Bayerlo!

Zhao stared in shock at the desk, where a paw had suddenly—

A cat slamming the table with its teeth bared—"P-President Luo?"

Luo Ke sighed helplessly and patted Lin Sifei’s head. "Be good."

"Put the call through," she said, looking up at Zhao Min.

Zhao Min nodded, exited the room, and closed the door.

Luo Ke picked up the phone, glancing at the pair of expectant eyes staring at her from beside the desk. She sighed again and pressed the speakerphone button.

Fluent English flowed from her lips. Lin Sifei pricked up her ears, listening closely. She couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief—thankfully, back in the day, her manager had hired plenty of tutors to help her learn English in order to break into the international market. She had managed to pick it up after some intense cramming.

She roughly understood Bayerlo’s message. In summary, they were exchanging pleasantries and expressing their eagerness to finalize a collaboration as soon as possible.

Luo Ke naturally agreed and immediately instructed Zhao Min to contact the relevant departments for a meeting after the call ended.

Lin Sifei hurriedly stretched out her uninjured right paw and hooked onto Luo Ke’s watch. "Meow meow meow!"

Seeing how insistent she was on following along, Luo Ke had no choice but to carry her. "No making noise."

Lin Sifei rolled her eyes. Talking to a cat—what a fool.

In fact, Zhao Min and Assistant Lin, who were following behind, had the same thought. What should they do? It seemed their boss had completely fallen into the cat-lover abyss.

When they arrived at the meeting room, Luo Ke placed the cat on a chair and waited for the others to arrive.

"President Luo, the department staff would like to bring the key project team members as well."

"That’s fine. We can hear their opinions directly."

Lin Sifei lay on the chair, narrowing her eyes as she watched the incoming attendees. Sure enough, she spotted the female lead, her high ponytail making her look energetic and sharp.

The female lead walked over and took a seat. However, from Lin Sifei’s low vantage point, she could no longer see her. Anxious, she quickly raised her front paws, grabbing the table’s edge to peek over.

A cute cat head suddenly popped up, scanning the room.

Everyone in the meeting room was instantly drawn in, their eyes widening in surprise.

Lin Sifei proudly lifted her chin. Knowing the storyline, she understood exactly what they were shocked about. Luo Ke had always been known for her ruthless, intimidating persona. Suddenly bringing in an adorable little cat was simply too jarring a contrast.

Luo Ke, however, remained expressionless. She sat down, picked up Lin Sifei, and placed her on her lap. "Let’s begin."

The meeting attendees finally snapped out of their daze and started their reports.

Lin Sifei perked up her ears, listening intently. This was invaluable information—it meant knowing the female lead’s upcoming moves.

Soon, it was time for the female lead’s team to present their progress and future plans. Luo Ke listened as she made notes and sketches on the paper beside her. Once their presentation concluded, she spoke up, correcting a few details and offering suggestions.

"There’s one issue," she said. "Bayerlo wants to finalize the deal as soon as possible, which means your timeline has been significantly shortened. How quickly can you compress the schedule?"

"As long as the money’s there, speed isn’t a problem," a man joked.

The suited man beside him nudged him in the chest with his elbow, glaring at him before turning to Luo Ke with a polite smile. "President Luo, he didn’t mean it that way..."

"No problem." Luo Ke closed the folder. "This project will require overtime. Overtime pay will be doubled. If we secure this contract, everyone involved will receive an additional bonus. Naturally, all team members contributing to the collaboration will receive a share."

At the mention of money, the team members immediately—

Ma was much more enthusiastic.

"Of course, I want both speed and quality." Luo Ke interrupted their excitement. "In three days, I want to see a complete proposal on my desk. If it doesn’t pass, you’ll be working overtime until it does."

"Three days should be enough for us to finish it," said the man in the suit, who seemed to be the team leader. He was the one making decisions.

Luo Ke nodded in satisfaction and was about to dismiss the meeting when someone suddenly raised their hand.

Lin Sifei's ears immediately perked up. Here it comes—this was the moment for the female lead to showcase her charm.

"President Luo, everyone has been working hard on this proposal, but our team still has some talent gaps. Some people are overloaded with work while others have relatively lighter tasks. This imbalance makes it difficult to improve efficiency. Also, there’s a lack of communication among the designers, which has caused many issues."

Luo Ke looked at her righteous expression and nodded slightly. She was obviously a newcomer to the workplace.

"You should report these issues to your team leader. What I want to see is your speed and quality. How you adjust your process and plan specifically is the team leader's responsibility."

She then turned to the man in the suit. "As planners, I assume you wouldn't want me, the president, to interfere too much."

The man nodded. "Thank you for your understanding, President Luo. I’ll do a better job in balancing workloads and coordinating teamwork."

"I trust you. Meeting dismissed."

Lin Sifei jumped down from Luo Ke’s lap and dashed toward Yan Yafei. With a swift leap, she landed squarely on Yan Yafei’s foot before bolting away.

"Ah!" Yan Yafei yelped in surprise, instinctively lifting her foot. A dull pain spread across the top of her foot.

After venting her anger with that stomp, Lin Sifei quickly scurried back to Luo Ke, reaching out her paw to scratch at her pant leg.

Luo Ke bent down, picked her up, and stroked her gently. Then she lifted her gaze toward Yan Yafei, her brows slightly furrowed.

Yan Yafei’s smile stiffened. She nodded and hurriedly left the conference room.

Luo Ke tapped Lin Sifei on the head. "Did she offend you? You deliberately ran over just to step on her."

Lin Sifei continued to play dumb, tilting her head innocently.

Luo Ke narrowed her eyes and applied a little more pressure as she rubbed Lin Sifei's head. "Oh, so you’re going to keep pretending?"

She carried Lin Sifei back to the office but didn’t get back to work. Instead, she openly picked up her phone and started scrolling, occasionally glancing at Lin Sifei.

Lin Sifei felt uneasy under her gaze. She reached out to grab Luo Ke’s hand, trying to see what she was looking at.

Luo Ke raised her hand. "Not for you."

"Meow!" Lin Sifei swung her little paw—still wrapped in a cast—trying to guilt-trip her.

Luo Ke pinched her tiny paw. "Want to switch to a colorful cast? I can find an artist to paint it for you. How about little fish bones?"

Lin Sifei's mind immediately conjured up the image of a tattooed fishbone sleeve. She shuddered. No way. That was way too embarrassing.

She yawned awkwardly, retracted her paw, and flipped over onto her back on the desk.

Luo Ke chuckled and continued scrolling on her phone.

Lin Sifei lay on the desk, frowning as she stared at Luo Ke, trying to figure out what she was thinking.

Luo Ke moved her phone aside and looked at her.

Lin Sifei instantly perked up her paws, looking as cute as possible.

Luo Ke reached out and pressed her down, running her hand over her belly.

Lin Sifei shuddered and tucked her tail between her legs. Wait—what was she doing? Where was she touching?

Luo Ke's palm continued to stroke her fur, making Lin Sifei squirm and let out a meow, struggling to escape.

Luo Ke kept going, trailing her fingers from beneath her chin downward. Lin Sifei swallowed nervously.

Her fingertips slid further, gliding across her soft belly, making Lin Sifei’s legs tremble involuntarily. She was a cat! She had two rows of—you know! How shameless!

Luo Ke only stopped when she reached the tip of her tail, finally releasing her. Lin Sifei collapsed into a puddle of fluff.

As soon as she was free, the cold touch of the desk sobered her up.

She immediately turned over, crouched on the desk for a moment, then kicked off and leaped onto the sofa, sitting upright.

She needed to stay away from this pervert Luo Ke. Too dangerous.

BMQTVC Chapter 8

Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Every day, Lin Sifei went to and from work with Luo Ke.

At first, the employees were shocked, but soon, they got used to it—watching a limping cat wander around the office every day.

As usual, Lin Sifei was making her rounds. At first, Luo Ke was worried whenever she dashed out of the office, but later, Lin Sifei managed to sneak away once, only to return with a pile of snacks given by the employees.

Luo Ke, with a cold expression, confiscated all her snacks. Lin Sifei was so angry that she reached out her paw to scratch her. Those were gifts from others! Give them back!

Luo Ke pulled open a drawer, locked the snacks inside, and said, "If you eat too many snacks, will you still eat your proper meals?"

Lin Sifei huffed and turned her head away. She wasn’t a child—how could she skip meals just for snacks? Frustrated, she flopped onto the desk, covering her eyes with her paws in protest.

Luo Ke poked her on the butt. "Are you mad? Are you crying?"

Lin Sifei kicked her hand away. Pervert! Where do you think you're touching?

Luo Ke sighed and took out a few packs of snacks. "You can only eat this much. No more."

Lin Sifei instantly perked up, staring at her expectantly, waiting for her to open the packaging.

Luo Ke poured the snacks into the cat bowl, watching her reaction with amusement. "The moment food is mentioned, you jump up like you totally understand human language."

After finishing the snacks, Lin Sifei licked her lips and looked up at Luo Ke.

Luo Ke pinched her ear. "Don't even think about it."

Lin Sifei’s eyes darted around as she pretended to be mad again, lying back down on the desk. But this time, Luo Ke saw through her act immediately. She ruffled Lin Sifei's head before picking up a file and heading to a meeting.

"Meow!" Lin Sifei called out. You dare pet me without giving me food?!

She jumped to the floor, propped herself up against the drawer, and discovered that it was locked with a password. Seriously? Just for some snacks, did she really have to treat it like classified documents?

After pawing at it fruitlessly, Lin Sifei sighed and decisively ran out of the office. She slipped into the employee area and collected another batch of snacks, this time eating them on the spot to prevent confiscation.

At noon, Luo Ke prepared a fish meal for her. The food looked delicious and smelled amazing, but when Lin Sifei opened her mouth to eat, she realized she was too full from all the snacks.

She carefully glanced at Luo Ke's expression and pretended to nibble at the fish.

Luo Ke seemed oblivious and turned away. Lin Sifei immediately tried to escape, but before she could take a few steps, Luo Ke scooped her up from behind.

Luo Ke rubbed her belly a couple of times, making Lin Sifei kick her legs in embarrassment.

"Your stomach is so full. You must’ve eaten quite a lot."

Lin Sifei's body stiffened. She looked up at Luo Ke, then hiccupped.

Luo Ke’s face instantly darkened. That very day, she issued a new company-wide notice: employees were strictly forbidden from feeding Xiaoxiao.

Thinking back on it now, Lin Sifei sighed. After that, employees truly stopped giving her food. Sometimes, an outsider visiting the company would try to offer her something, but before they could, an employee would stop them.

Like now. Lin Sifei watched as Zhao Min pulled aside a woman and whispered to her, "Don't feed President Luo's cat. Our boss is super possessive—Xiaoxiao isn't allowed to take food from anyone else."

Hearing Luo Ke’s reputation become pettier and pettier, Lin Sifei finally felt a bit better. Swaying her tail, she walked away.

She rounded a hallway, slowed her steps, glanced around carefully, and, confirming no one was around, tiptoed into...

At the corner of the hallway, a pair of feline eyes locked onto a door in the distance.

"The documents have been confirmed without any issues. We can submit them to President Luo now. If it's approved, then tomorrow, we officially go to battle. Is everyone ready?"

"Ready!" A chorus of voices echoed from the office.

Lin Sifei watched as the team leader took the documents to find Luo Ke. Seizing the opportunity, she quickly squeezed through the door gap and slipped inside.

Recently, this group of people had been working overtime every day, completely holed up in the office with the door shut, leaving her no chance to sneak in and investigate the layout.

"Huh? Isn't this President Luo's cat?"

As soon as she entered, someone recognized her. Lin Sifei remained unfazed, relying on her powerful backer—Luo Ke. She boldly leaped onto a desk and started strolling around.

She scanned the office. It was a pretty standard setup—each person had their own workstation, with a glass-enclosed office at the back belonging to the team leader. Between the employees and the team leader's office was a long communal table.

Narrowing her eyes, Lin Sifei circled the office once.

The novel never explicitly described where the protagonist lost the project plan, nor did it mention it again afterward. The business negotiation took place at a vacation villa where the Bayero employees were staying. The team brought a USB drive and the project plan with them, but somehow, both were lost—only some supplementary materials remained.

It was unlikely that they lost it on the way there, as they were traveling in a group. The most probable location… was this very office.

Lin Sifei's gaze swept across the room, searching for possible hiding spots.

"This is a workplace. It’s probably not appropriate to have a cat running around in here, right?" Yan Yafei frowned at the feline intruder. Remembering how she had been bitten and stepped on before, she felt a surge of irritation.

A woman beside her hesitantly reached out to pet Lin Sifei's head. "Petting cats can relieve stress. We've been working so hard—this is the perfect chance to relax."

The people around them gathered closer, eager to reach out and touch her.

Lin Sifei shuddered, staring at the approaching hands in horror.

Yan Yafei pouted, crossing her arms. "President Luo is so possessive. If she finds out you guys touched her cat, she'll probably get mad."

Bringing up Luo Ke’s name worked instantly—everyone hesitated. President Luo didn’t even allow people to feed her cat, so petting was likely out of the question.

One by one, they awkwardly withdrew their hands.

Yan Yafei smirked. "Let's just send the cat out. We just submitted the project plan, and we really don’t want to upset President Luo, or she might make us redo everything."

Lin Sifei frowned. What did this woman mean by that? Was she implying that Luo Ke would let her personal feelings interfere with work?

Her face scrunched up in anger. Luo Ke was one of the most professional people she knew—she would never let emotions affect her decisions. This woman was clearly throwing shade at her.

"Meow!" Lin Sifei arched her back and hissed at Yan Yafei before leaping onto her shoulder. With a swift swipe, she messed up her hair.

"Ahhh!" Yan Yafei shrieked, clutching her head.

Lin Sifei smirked, then jumped onto her desk and kicked over her water cup. Water quickly seeped into the stack of documents on her desk.

The office erupted into chaos.

With a satisfied "Meow," Lin Sifei leisurely hopped down from the desk and strolled out.

She trotted quickly back to Luo Ke's office.

Zhao Min watched as she slipped inside and sighed, shaking her head. "What kind of trouble has she stirred up this time?"

The project plan was successfully approved. Luo Ke began contacting Bayero, and they arranged for a representative to come the next day. After a day of rest, the negotiations would begin.

The key plot point was approaching—Lin Sifei felt a surge of nervous anticipation.

She couldn’t sleep. In the middle of the night, she kept tossing and turning beside Luo Ke.

Luo Ke took a deep breath and sat up, switching on the bedside lamp.

Lin Sifei let out a small “meow” and covered her eyes with a paw.

Luo Ke tapped her on the head. “Why aren’t you sleeping in the middle of the night?”

Lin Sifei glared at her, then turned over, showing her back.

Luo Ke picked her up and tucked her into the blanket. “Alright, I’ll give you extra treats tomorrow. Now go to sleep.”

Lin Sifei sighed and closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep.

She spent the whole night in a state of half-sleep, half-wakefulness, leaving her feeling groggy. Shaking her head to clear it, she forced herself to wake up.

As soon as they arrived at the office, Lin Sifei refused to go inside and instead clung to the hallway, wanting to play.

Luo Ke sighed helplessly and scratched her chin. “I have to go discuss the collaboration soon. I can’t take you with me. Zhao Min will be here—if you come back, look for her.”

“Meow,” Lin Sifei responded, signaling her understanding.

Luo Ke ruffled her head, letting her go play. Everyone in the company knew her anyway, so there was no worry about anything happening.

As soon as Lin Sifei was out of her sight, she took off, dashing toward the corner where she had spied the day before.

She watched as the team members carried a stack of materials out of the office, tidying their clothes as they went.

The team leader adjusted his tie and called out, “Yafei, double-check the documents, especially the project plan and the USB drive.”

“Got it.”

The team leader and a few others carried some of the documents downstairs first. Lin Sifei quickly moved to the office door, peering through the gap to observe the female lead.

Yan Yafei was reapplying her lipstick, checking her reflection with satisfaction before smiling. She picked up her bag and folder, then strutted out in her high heels.

Lin Sifei had already snuck under the desk, watching as she left.

Once the door shut, Lin Sifei climbed out and leaped onto the desk, pawing through the folders with great difficulty.

Not this one. Not this one either. None of these.

She hooked a claw into the drawer and pulled it open. Inside was a mess of miscellaneous items, but her eyes lit up when she spotted a USB drive.

Grabbing it in her mouth, she plugged it into the computer and checked the files—confirming that it was the one they needed. She let out a small “tsk, tsk.” This girl was so careless—she had completely forgotten to bring the USB drive.

After pulling it out, she forcefully shut down the computer. Circling the desk again, she couldn’t find any sign of the project plan.

Frowning, she wondered—was the project plan not here?

She jumped down, biting the USB drive, and leaped onto the doorknob, hanging from it to push the door open.

Just then, some employees returning from the farewell gathering saw her and laughed. “President Luo’s cat knows how to open doors now!”

Afraid they’d see the USB drive, Lin Sifei bolted, sprinting toward Luo Ke’s office. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a familiar figure.

She skidded to a halt, then tiptoed toward the hallway corner.

Peeking out, she saw Yan Yafei holding a stack of documents while talking on the phone.

“I told you it’s not necessary. Our company is already handling the collaboration. If you really want in, just negotiate with our company. At most, you can say you know me, right? I can’t take on projects directly. If the company finds out, people will gossip.”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened. That playful, coquettish tone, and the way she so casually talked about sealing a deal—was she speaking to that mysterious Brother No. 1?

“Oh, come on, I already said—ah!”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened further as she watched Yan Yafei twist her ankle and fall to the ground. The documents flew into the air, scattering like petals.

“Xiaofei! What happened?!” A man’s anxious voice came from the phone.

“I—I fell. It hurts…” Yan Yafei whimpered, her voice trembling with tears.

“Don’t worry, I’m coming over right now.”

The call ended. Yan Yafei sniffled and lifted her head. “Ugh, my eye makeup is going to smudge. Good thing I didn’t actually cry.”

She sat on the ground, gathering the scattered papers. After finishing, she smoothed down her skirt and walked away.

Lin Sifei hid behind a potted plant. Once Yan Yafei was gone, she rushed back to the scene of the fall, circling carefully.

Then, her eyes caught something—there was a sliver of white paper peeking out from under a nearby door.

She lay down, extending her claws. Using the tips of her sharp nails, she carefully hooked the edge and dragged it out. Several sheets of paper slid out with it.

A grin spread across her face. She knew it! A project plan this big wouldn’t just disappear—only a portion had gone missing.

Now everything was in place.

Yan Yafei, if you’re going to blame someone… blame yourself for being such a terrible protagonist—or rather, for being such a terrible villain.

BMQTVC Chapter 9

Lin Sifei, afraid of missing anything, carefully searched again and dragged out another sheet from behind a flower pot. Now everything should be complete.

She clenched the documents in her mouth and darted into the elevator, jumping up to press the lower button meant for disabled users.

The elevator slowly ascended, and Lin Sifei anxiously stomped her paws.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, she sprinted to Zhao Min’s secretary desk, dropped the items on the floor, and started meowing.

Zhao Min was on a call, but when she saw her, she raised her hand slightly. “President Luo’s cat is here. I’ll hang up now. Safe travels.”

She bent down, pulled out a tissue, and picked up what Lin Sifei had brought in her mouth. "A USB drive? Where did you get this from? This is an important work document."

She sighed helplessly. This little troublemaker was always causing her problems. But as she reached for the papers and glanced at them, she suddenly froze. Wait—wasn’t this the proposal for the current project?

“Oh no! President Luo and the team have already left.” She immediately stood up, ready to run after them.

Lin Sifei clung to her leg, then leaped onto the desk and patted the printer. Come on, just print another copy! This one has my saliva on it and even has bite marks!

“Oh, right, right! I need to make copies.” Seeing the bite marks on the document, Zhao Min rushed into the copy room and printed three new copies.

Lin Sifei jumped onto her shoulder and gently patted her forehead to comfort her. “Meow!” No need to panic. They’ve just left. Driving over won’t cause any delays.

Zhao Min took a deep breath, soothed by the soft paw pads, and carried her into the elevator while dialing Lin Assistant’s number.

“Hello, Assistant Lin? The proposal sent by the team is incomplete. Quickly have them check the documents. I’ll be bringing over the missing pages immediately.”

Assistant Lin was first shocked, then puzzled. “How do you know it’s incomplete? And do you even know what’s missing?”

“I’ll explain later. The missing part was just brought over by President Luo’s cat, along with a USB drive.”

“Got it. I’ll take care of it.”

Assistant Lin turned to inform Luo Ke, who frowned slightly and nodded. “Contact the team right away. That USB drive might contain their presentation materials.”

Assistant Lin hurriedly reached out to the team. Sure enough, it was theirs. He scolded them angrily, “Secretary Zhao will be delivering it soon. Open up the documents and be ready to add the missing pages.”

After reprimanding them, his tone softened. “Don’t worry too much. Your top priority is still securing this contract. Stay focused and don’t let a small hiccup affect your performance…”

He went on and on, sounding just like a homeroom teacher giving a pep talk before a big exam.

Luo Ke stood by the window with her arms crossed. So, the little one was the one who found it? Has she been eating and sleeping poorly because she was worried about the collaboration?

Thinking of this, the corners of her lips curved slightly, and her throat moved as if swallowing an emotion. It had been too long—too long since someone had genuinely cared about her. Her grandmother and uncle showed concern, but maybe because she always shared the good news and not the bad, they all believed she was strong and capable.

Recalling how the little one had tossed and turned on the pillow last night, she couldn’t help but smile. Catching a glimpse of Assistant Lin’s ‘seen a ghost’ expression, she cleared her throat, raised a fist, and covered her mouth.

Assistant Lin quickly turned away and sent a message to the anxious team members.

[President Luo looks happy. I don’t think it’s a big problem.]

Happy??? Now it was their turn to be dumbfounded.

The team members were all bewildered.

Regardless, the contract negotiations had to proceed. As the group got out of the car, the representatives from Baierluo were already there to welcome them.

Luo Ke stepped forward to shake hands with them, and they all walked inside together.

The suited man left the deputy team leader outside to wait for Zhao Min.

"Miss Luo, shall we begin now?"

The team members instantly felt a chill run down their spines. How could they start now when the materials hadn't arrived yet? Especially since the most important USB drive was still missing!

Luo Ke sat in the chair and extended her hand toward Assistant Lin behind her. Smiling, Assistant Lin distributed gifts to each of the Baierluo representatives.

"Miss Luo, what is the meaning of this?"

"Don't worry, I don’t have any hidden agenda. It's just that you've traveled a long way and may not be very familiar with our country's culture. The box contains carefully selected gifts, and I hope that before we begin the presentation, we can take a moment to understand each other and exchange ideas. This might make the session more effective."

The Baierluo representatives exchanged glances before opening their boxes. Each person received something different—some got Luban locks, others sandalwood fans, and some had traditional opera masks.

Using the items in their hands, Luo Ke began explaining the diverse customs and cultural values accumulated throughout the long history of the country.

"Interesting, this is completely different from our own traditions," one of the Baierluo representatives said with a nod and a smile.

Luo Ke raised an eyebrow. "This is precisely the biggest challenge and greatest opportunity in our collaboration. The cultural clashes between us could either propel us to the top or sink us entirely."

"In that case, working with your company seems quite risky."

"Risk and reward go hand in hand. Besides, isn’t our goal to ensure that the scale of success tips in our favor?"

Outside the villa, the deputy team leader anxiously paced back and forth, occasionally glancing into the living room.

President Luo had to hold the fort—otherwise, it would be a complete disaster.

Just as he was about to lose all patience, a red compact car finally appeared in his line of sight. Zhao Min was holding a file folder in one hand while cradling a cat in her arms as she ran toward him.

Overjoyed, the deputy team leader rushed to her, grabbed the folder, and dashed inside without hesitation.

"Hey! Wait for me!" Zhao Min almost twisted her ankle in her high heels.

The deputy team leader ran straight to the team leader and shoved the folder into his hands.

The team was already seated at the table, surrounded by Baierluo representatives. He had no choice but to discreetly slide the folder under the table and carefully insert the missing pages.

Yan Yafei eagerly helped flip through the folder, but the team leader hesitated, glanced at her, and whispered, "Step aside for now."

Yan Yafei stiffened. "But… but what about distributing the documents and the presentation?"

"He’ll do it." The team leader patted the deputy team leader’s arm.

Yan Yafei bit her lip, reluctant to give up, but a colleague tugged at her sleeve. "Hurry up, don’t let them see."

She turned and stood up abruptly, the sharp sound of her high heels echoing in the room.

Luo Ke cast a calm glance in her direction, her peripheral vision catching sight of Zhao Min standing not far away, with a cat perched on her head.

The corners of her lips lifted slightly. "It seems my employees are getting impatient. Let's take a look at the proposal our company has prepared."

The suited team leader stepped forward and began the presentation as planned.

Zhao Min let out a breath of relief.

The deputy team leader leaned in and whispered, "Good thing you arrived in time. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have known what to do."

"You should be thanking her. It’s all thanks to her for finding the missing documents."

Lin Sifei listened to the praise while keeping her eyes fixed on Luo Ke. Just now, she had seen Luo Ke smile—so beautiful. It made her whole trip worth it.

Zhao Min, however, found it odd. "President Luo never smiles. But today, she actually did. Could it be that she’s finally come around and decided to use her looks to win over the clients?"

Lin Sifei glanced at her and slapped her chin with a paw.

Narrow-minded! Superficial! Luo Ke might be stunning, but she was even more capable. She was such a proud person—there was no way she would use her beauty to persuade others.

The presentation concluded successfully, and Luo Ke secured the partnership. As they exited the villa, she extended both hands toward Zhao Min, who immediately understood and handed Lin Sifei over to her.

The moment Lin Sifei landed in her arms, she happily rubbed against her and let out a soft "meow."

"You really did a great job this time," Luo Ke said as she scratched her chin before bending down to get into the car.

Unlike her cheerful mood, the team members’ car was filled with a heavy silence.

The proposal had been well-prepared, yet because of this blunder, any hopes of a bonus were likely gone. Now, they could only hope there wouldn’t be any penalties.

The air inside the vehicle was stifling until one colleague finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. "We checked the documents a thousand times before leaving, yet we still managed to lose something. Unbelievable."

Yan Yafei pouted and clenched the hem of her skirt tightly. "I didn’t mean to… It’s not like I did it on purpose."

"Yeah, we know you didn’t do it on purpose. But stop acting so pitiful, like we’re bullying you."

"I never said that."

"We're all seasoned players here, so why are you putting on this innocent act?" a colleague sneered, rolling their eyes at her.

"You! You’re slandering me!" Yan Yafei was so furious that she bit her lip, her face turning pale as she looked utterly fragile and helpless.

Unfortunately for her, this mistake was simply too amateurish and had caused a significant issue.

The suited team leader raised a hand. "Alright, that’s enough. We should still be happy that we secured the contract."

The deputy team leader rolled his eyes. "Happy? I might not even get my bonus anymore. What’s there to be happy about?"

"Enough talking!" The team leader’s voice was sharp as he cut them off. "We’ll wait and see how President Luo decides to handle this."

Silence once again filled the car.

Back at the office, Lin Sifei sat expectantly on the desk, waiting for Luo Ke to fire the female lead.

Luo Ke looked at her big, round eyes, patted her head, then bent down to pull out a snack from the drawer. "Just this once—I’ll allow you to have a treat today."

Lin Sifei stared blankly at the snack in front of her, then at Luo Ke, then back at the snack, then back at her again. With one swipe of her paw, she sent the snack flying. "Meow!"

Luo Ke frowned. "You don’t like this snack? Then what do you want? Do you want something else?"

Lin Sifei, frustrated, stood up and paced back and forth on the desk. How was she supposed to express, in a pure and unpretentious cat-like manner, that Luo Ke needed to fire the female lead? The mistake was so basic—how could she not be dismissed for it?

After circling twice, she suddenly jumped into the bag placed beside Luo Ke and rummaged around until she found her wallet. She bit down on a cash bill and pulled it out.

Money! Money! Bonuses!

But Luo Ke completely misinterpreted her intention. "You want money to buy something?"

Lin Sifei gave up, collapsing onto the desk in defeat.

Luo Ke rested her chin on her hand, tapping her fingers on the desk as she pondered what exactly her cat wanted.

"President Luo, do we still need to hold a celebration party for this contract?"

Luo Ke nodded. "Yes, they’ve all worked hard for a long time."

Lin Sifei tilted her head up at her, realizing that was all she had to say. She was a bit dumbfounded. Not only her—Zhao Min also remained frozen in place.

"Is there anything else?" Luo Ke asked.

Zhao Min bit her lip. "Uh… shouldn’t something be done about Yan Yafei?"

"What do you suggest?" Luo Ke asked absentmindedly, her attention still on playing with the cat.

"I think the impact of Yan Yafei’s mistake is too serious. Plus, this isn’t the first time she’s made such errors. She should be fired as a warning to others," Zhao Min said, subconsciously pressing her lips together after speaking.

Luo Ke glanced at her. "You seem to have quite an issue with Yan Yafei."

Zhao Min straightened her back even more, afraid that Luo Ke’s next words might be to fire her instead.

"If that’s what you think, then let’s do it. Overseeing the team is part of your responsibilities, and I trust that you have good enough reasons to make this decision," Luo Ke said.

Zhao Min gave a slight nod and went downstairs to the HR department to handle the matter.

Lin Sifei happily clapped her paws together. Great! Finally, they got rid of the female lead, that walking disaster.

Seeing the cat’s pleased expression, Luo Ke rubbed her head. "You’re a hero too."

Lin Sifei turned her head away with a little huff, refusing to acknowledge her. How slow! Even Zhao Min figured it out faster.

Luo Ke, sensing the sudden disdain, chuckled helplessly. Then, she suddenly furrowed her brows—earlier, Zhao Min had said that the lost item was found by Xiaoxiao.

She stood up, took out a few packs of snacks, tore them open for Lin Sifei, and rubbed her head. "I have to step out for a bit. Stay here."

Lin Sifei tilted her head in confusion but quickly became absorbed in the pile of snacks.

Luo Ke made her way straight to the security room.

When she entered, two security guards were leaning back in their chairs, chatting about inappropriate jokes. The one facing the door spotted her first and quickly patted the other guard. That man turned his head, immediately shot up from his seat, and straightened his cap. "President Luo!"

Luo Ke glanced at them. "I’m here to check the surveillance footage. You two can go outside and patrol for now."

"Do you need us to help you look for anything?"

"No need. It involves internal company matters, and I’ll be taking that section of the footage with me."

At that, the guards knew better than to ask further. They exchanged a quick glance, pulled each other up, and walked out together, even thoughtfully closing the door behind them.

Luo Ke bent down and pulled up the footage from earlier that day, starting from the moment she arrived at the company. She quickly locked onto Xiaoxiao’s small figure.

Soon, she saw Xiaoxiao darting into the project team’s office, rummaging around before grabbing the USB drive and running off. Then, Yan Yafei appeared in the footage.

After watching how the documents went missing, Luo Ke’s expression turned cold. This wasn’t just a simple case of forgetfulness.

But as she continued watching Xiaoxiao’s clumsy efforts to gather the files, her heart warmed. What a foolish cat—she hadn’t even considered the existence of security cameras. If someone else had seen this, she might’ve been caught and dissected for research.

With a helpless sigh, Luo Ke copied the relevant footage and deleted the rest.

"You really don’t know how to be careful," she murmured.

BMQTVC Chapter 10

Back in the office, Luo Ke had just sat down when Zhao Min came in to report.

"President Luo, Director Luo wants to see you."

Luo Ke's eyebrows furrowed slightly. She nodded, "Let him in."

Lin Sifei looked at Luo Ke curiously, wondering why she was showing such a troubled expression. It was rare to see such a look on her face. Was this director difficult to deal with?

In her mind, Lin Sifei had already played out a thrilling corporate battle scene. But then, she saw a middle-aged man with a silly grin and a beer belly walk in.

Lin Sifei: … Based on her years of experience navigating the entertainment industry, she could guarantee that this man was no formidable figure.

"Second Uncle, you're here."

Lin Sifei suddenly stood up from the table. Second Uncle!!!

Her eyes widened in shock. If she remembered correctly, in the original novel, the villain would be completely ruined, and these relatives had played no small part in that—actually, it was entirely their doing.

"Second Uncle, have a seat. What brings you here?" Luo Ke poured him a cup of tea.

Director Luo let out a dramatic sigh. "Xiao Ke, what kind of question is that? Can’t your second uncle visit you without a reason?"

"Of course you can." Luo Ke folded her hands on the desk. "But since it's working hours, it's better to talk business."

She looked serious, making Director Luo shift uncomfortably in his chair. "Well, since you put it that way, let’s talk business. I heard you're planning to fire Yan Yafei."

Lin Sifei rolled her eyes from the side. Oh please, you clearly came here just to talk about this.

"What are your thoughts, Second Uncle?"

Hearing this, Director Luo sensed a chance to negotiate. Smiling, he scooted forward in his chair. "She’s a newcomer, mistakes are bound to happen. Give her another chance. Besides, she has a good relationship with Yuan Mo, and we should be trying to win over the Yuan Group."

Luo Ke traced her fingers along the table, her gaze darkening slightly. "This Yan Yafei… seems to have quite the network—she even knows someone from the Yuan family."

"She’s kind-hearted and innocent. Naturally, such people attract outstanding individuals." Director Luo observed Luo Ke’s expression. "This is just a small matter. Surely you wouldn’t refuse your second uncle’s request?"

"You’re joking, Second Uncle. It’s just an employee—if you want her to stay, she can stay." Luo Ke took a sip of tea. "However, letting her off completely without consequences doesn’t seem right. How about docking her salary for a month? And for the next month, she’ll have to train with the interns."

"A month?" Director Luo frowned. "Isn’t that a bit too long?"

"Then let’s make it a week. Since you personally came to ask, I’ll compromise." Luo Ke placed her teacup down in front of him.

Director Luo glanced at her hand, realizing that the decision was final. He let out a hearty laugh. "Alright, we’ll do that then."

Standing up, he adjusted his suit before walking out.

As soon as he left, Lin Sifei rushed over and stared at Luo Ke with an accusatory expression. How could you not fire her? Your second uncle isn’t a good person either!

Luo Ke smiled and pulled her onto her lap.

Lin Sifei struggled to escape, but Luo Ke refused to let go. Sensing the little cat was quite angry, she gently rubbed her back.

"Alright, don’t be upset. My second uncle has done me a great favor before. Since he personally came to ask, I couldn't refuse over something so small."

Fei was exasperated, hating that she couldn’t knock some sense into her. Your second uncle has ulterior motives! He’s relying on you only because he’s incompetent. The moment he gets the chance, he’ll be the first to betray you.

She was frustrated that she wasn’t human—otherwise, she could just claim to foresee the future and tell Luo Ke everything. But even then, Luo Ke might not believe her. After all, one was an uncle who had been by her side since childhood, and the other was someone with an unclear background.

Lin Sifei felt deflated, as if an insurmountable wall stood before her.

Luo Ke stroked her fur, leaning back in her chair and narrowing her eyes slightly. “This Yan Yafei is quite interesting—not only does she know the president of Yuan Group, but she can also get my second uncle to speak on her behalf.”

Lin Sifei anxiously patted her hand. Yes, exactly! Your second uncle and Yuan Group are in cahoots! Though… not yet.

Luo Ke closed her eyes, lost in thought.

“President Luo, HR is asking whether they should proceed with the termination paperwork.”

Luo Ke’s eyes snapped open. “It hasn’t been processed yet?”

Zhao Min shrank under her gaze. “I-I’ll push them to hurry.”

“No need.” Luo Ke averted her eyes. “Deduct a month’s salary from Yan Yafei and transfer her to intern status for a week—no termination.”

Zhao Min acknowledged the order and carefully closed the door behind her.

Luo Ke looked down at Lin Sifei. “Xiao Xiao, I originally thought Yan Yafei had gone to plead with my second uncle herself. But now, that doesn’t seem to be the case. HR hasn’t even issued a notice yet—so how did my second uncle find out?”

Lin Sifei tilted her head up at her, her eyes gleaming. Meow! You finally figured it out?

Luo Ke took a deep breath and pressed the button on her desk phone. “Zhao Min, tell Yan Yafei to come to my office.”

“Understood, President Luo.”

Soon, the office door was pushed open. Yan Yafei entered and immediately bowed. “I sincerely apologize, President Luo.”

Lin Sifei let out a meow, flicked her tail, and curled up to the side, refusing to look at her.

Luo Ke noticed her reaction and smiled slightly.

Yan Yafei was momentarily stunned by that tiny smile.

Then, Luo Ke’s expression turned cold again, reverting to her usual frosty demeanor. “Did HR inform you of their decision?”

“I just received the notice,” Yan Yafei replied with her head lowered.

“Do you know Director Luo Shengping?”

“…Yes.”

“How did you meet?”

Yan Yafei cautiously glanced up at Luo Ke. But the moment their eyes met, she quickly lowered her head again. “When I first applied for this job, I thought he was just an ordinary employee, so I helped him carry some things.”

Luo Ke nodded slightly. “No wonder my second uncle calls you kind.”

Yan Yafei smiled sheepishly.

“You can go now. Work hard.”

“Yes, President Luo.”

As she watched Yan Yafei leave, Luo Ke took a sip of tea. “Looks like my second uncle has told her quite a bit. Someone like this, being closely connected to Yuan Group…”

Her fingers tapped rhythmically against the table, producing a dull thud-thud sound.

Lin Sifei let out a soft meow, looking up at her.

“Are you worried?” Luo Ke bent down, picked her up, and tapped her nose. “This is nothing.”

Meow~ Arrogant fool.

Seeing her roll her eyes, Luo Ke suddenly buried her face in Lin Sifei’s fluffy belly and rubbed against her fur vigorously.

Lin Sifei’s fur bristled as she let out a sharp meow! Her claws furiously tangled in Luo Ke’s hair. Where do you think you’re rubbing?! Shameless!

Luo Ke’s hair was completely messed up from the attack. Defeated, she had no choice but to ask Zhao Min for a comb and mirror to fix it.

Lin Sifei let out a cold snort, raised her paw, and waved it as a warning—next time, no more unsolicited rubbing!

Luo Ke helplessly tapped her on the forehead with the comb. "Did you forget who's the one taking care of you?"

Lin Sifei lifted her chin. So what? Are you going to throw me out? You wouldn’t dare.

This was the definition of being spoiled and acting recklessly.

Satisfied with her dominance, Lin Sifei happily turned her back to Luo Ke, hopping onto the desk across from her.

She tapped open her tablet and started playing a silent game of tile-matching.

Buzzzzz—

Lin Sifei’s ears twitched at the sound. She couldn't help but turn toward the source.

A giant bee, its tail trailing behind it, hovered right in front of her face, buzzing incessantly.

Lin Sifei froze for three full seconds before letting out a shrill meow and bolting away.

Startled by her sudden movement, the bee followed, buzzing after her persistently.

Lin Sifei’s cat eyes locked onto Luo Ke, who was sitting calmly at her desk. Without hesitation, she grabbed onto Luo Ke’s pant leg and scrambled up, perching herself atop Luo Ke’s head.

Luo Ke’s neatly tied-up hair was instantly wrecked again. Meanwhile, Lin Sifei had completely forgotten her previous arrogance and was now meowing desperately for help.

Luo Ke watched the bee circling the room and listened to the frantic meowing by her ear, unable to hold back a laugh.

Lin Sifei was nearly in tears. Stop laughing! Get rid of it already!

“Do you admit you were wrong now? Do you remember who takes care of you?”

“Meow~ Meow~” Yes, yes! It’s you, it’s you, it’s all you!

Lin Sifei lowered her head, pitifully meowing in her ear, her cool little nose pressing against Luo Ke’s cheek.

Finally, Luo Ke stood up, still smiling, and gently guided the bee out of the window with a folder.

The tension in Lin Sifei’s body melted away, and she went completely limp in Luo Ke’s arms.

Luo Ke chuckled, scratching her under the chin. “Little troublemaker.”
