Cui Xisheng was not that foolish. He clearly saw the murderous hatred in Liu Anna's eyes.
When she suddenly put on a smile in 0.01 seconds, Cui Xisheng shivered in fear. This woman was too terrifying.
Seeing Liu Anna approaching, Cui Xisheng hurriedly stopped her. “Don’t come over.”
He quickly pulled out the box full of food beside him and threw it at Liu Anna. Pointing to the other side of the crowd, he said, “All of it is yours. Go over there and eat.”
Liu Anna’s smile froze on her face. Cui Xisheng always rejected her so directly, with no tact at all. She wasn’t sure whether to smile or not.
The box that Cui Xisheng threw landed on the ground, spilling food everywhere. Various kinds of food scattered across the floor, a sharp contrast to the lonely cream bread and carton of milk in Liu Anna’s hands.
Meng Jiangtian’s preferential treatment was the last straw, and Liu Anna’s smile finally collapsed.
Twitching her lips, Liu Anna, full of pride, didn’t pick up the food on the ground. Instead, she turned and walked away.
Before she could take a step, though, she felt a chilling sensation run up her spine as the hungry eyes of about a hundred people fixed on the bread and milk in her hands. It felt as if icy fingers were crawling up her skin.
Her pride melted instantly, and she turned back around, smiling at Cui Xisheng. “I’ll eat and then go over.”
Fearing that Cui Xisheng might not agree, Liu Anna voluntarily sat down at a distance, ripped open the packaging, and began eating with large bites.
Cui Xisheng watched her eat and drink, and when she moved to the other side of the crowd, obscured by people, he sighed in relief.
The setting sun was now only a sliver in the sky, casting weak light over the rooftop, while the agonized cries of the three men still echoed in the air. There was a palpable sense of danger, as if everyone’s lives hung in the balance.
Zhao Jiake tidied up the food that Cui Xisheng had thrown out and repacked it into boxes, bringing it over to Cui Xisheng.
All of the boxes of food Meng Jiangtian had brought were now piled beside Cui Xisheng, but no one dared ask for any.
Meng Jiangtian had been gone for a while, and as the sun set, the rooftop slowly fell into darkness.
The three men whose legs had been severed slowly stopped screaming. In the dark, no one could see whether they had died, and no one dared to check.
In the distance, a light approached, causing the zombies below to start howling wildly. The light was thrown onto the street next to the building, and the zombies surged towards it, running in frenzy.
Meng Jiangtian returned with an ability user, opening a flashlight at his waist. The student president, holding large and small bags of food, followed behind him, with the wind carrying additional food.
“What happened here?” As soon as the student president landed, he saw the three men lying motionless on the ground with severed legs.
He quickly approached to check their breathing and pulse, but there was only silence. These three had already lost their lives.
“I did it. Are they dead?” Meng Jiangtian asked indifferently, his tone flat.
The student president turned to glare at him, his lips trembling as he wanted to say something, but when he looked into Meng Jiangtian’s cold eyes, he immediately felt a chill all over his body.
It was Meng Jiangtian who had saved him earlier, and now he had brought back two ability users and more food. The student president swallowed the words he had almost said, trying his best to remain calm. “Why did you kill them?”
“Because you didn’t come back. They were trying to steal my friends’ food,” Meng Jiangtian replied lightly, shifting the blame to the student president.
The student president’s face flushed with anger. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to come back—it was the zombies that had blocked them. If he could fly, he would have returned by now.
